git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/perf/perf-tools-next
Pull perf tool updates from Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo:
- Support instruction tracking on arm64 for data type profiling,
resolving stack, global, per-CPU and 'current' variable accesses, so
that 'perf annotate --data-type' resolves types on arm64 the way it
does on x86.
- Port the Python scripts to the perf module and standalone execution,
and improve the module: lazy sample callchains and event copies, GIL
handling, better session/thread lookup, new treport, flamegraph and
sqlite/postgres exporters.
- Reenable and fix the attribute expectation test suite: per-PMU bit
masks, other core PMUs' events, dummy tracking events, group checks
and spelled out skip reasons.
- perf trace: filter the target's tasks in BPF, open the BPF output
event on every CPU, add an option to disable syscall augmentation and
raise TRACE_AUG_MAX_BUF.
- perf jitdump: harden record parsing, validating unwinding sizes and
symbol names, byte-swapping debug entries via safe accessors and
fixing frees on error paths.
- perf annotate-data fixes: bound the member nesting recursion, resolve
type DIEs in the debug file they came from, adjust the offset for
flex-arrays and show the sample count in the data-type browser.
- perf symbol and debug info: try linked debug files for DSOs, avoid
repeated failing searches, set binary/symtab types for split
kallsyms, JIT maps and the build-id cache, fix libbfd symbol loading.
- perf config: serialize config file access with a mutex, add the
DEFINE_MUTEX() and DO_ONCE() primitives and a robust process shared
mutex, add the core.hybrid-merge option.
- perf report: add --progress and --no-progress options.
- perf mem: add a false sharing workload to 'perf test', request
PERF_SAMPLE_CPU by default, use the IBS swfilt filter when available
and decode L0 in the memory level.
- perf test: take turns using the perf mlock budget in the mmaping
tests, add the 'needs_mlock' suite flag, scope the probe based tests
to their PID and make more tests non-exclusive.
- perf vendor events intel: update events and metrics to TMA 5.2,
refresh the event tables and fix umask encodings.
- perf build: run shellcheck, mypy and pylint in parallel, make pylint
opt-out with NO_PYLINT=1, fix clean and install dependencies.
- Add a script and a 'make sync-headers' target to sync the tools/
copies of kernel headers with the kernel sources, plus the resulting
syncs of the cpufeatures, KVM, fs, mount, fcntl, socket, rtnetlink,
if_addr and sound headers.
- Fix cs-etm HW_ID mapping synthesis for raw trace, queue teardown
leaks and duplicate v0 global mappings.
- Add a 'perf bench atomic' benchmark for atomic operations.
- Filter events before creating lock_stat in 'perf lock contention'.
- Add a 'perf test' case for events re-armed with
PERF_EVENT_IOC_REFRESH.
- Fix memory leaks on 'perf c2c' output fields and add function view
stdio coverage to its test.
- Fix a NULL dereference resolving callchains in 'perf machine'.
- Optimize the libdw fallback when DWARF is missing and try the symbol
file first when checking for debuginfo.
- Don't call eprintf() in pr_debugN() when not verbose.
- Don't delete cumulative caller entries before the stat_acc decays in
'perf report'.
- Fix ring buffer cursor handling: keep the consumed cursor in forward
mode and use the head selected by read_init.
- Fix 'perf test mmap-basic' user rdpmc detection and only test
userspace reading on supported platforms.
- Build fixes: include sys/types.h for ssize_t, errno.h before kernel
headers and fix jevents.py type annotations for mypy 2.x.

Pull VFIO updates from Alex Williamson:
- Fix missing selftest <libgen.h> include for basename() to support
non-glibc builds (Hisam Mehboob)
- Add vfio selftest documentation covering the libvfio helper library
and guidance for developers to aid in adding and understanding the
framework (David Matlack)
- Fix vfio cdev open path to prevent a second open from clobbering the
vf_token or clearing the KVM reference. Add a selftest to avoid
future recurrences (Alex Williamson)
- Extend vfio selftest mix_and_match timeouts, in particular to account
for systems where generated faults can induce heavy SMM load,
delaying internal timeouts. Also extend timeout for execution via
runner to account for various tests exceeding default 45s timeout
(Alex Williamson)
- Add tracking for non-reserved mappings into a vfio_dma object in
order to optimize the tear-down paths where per-page tests can be
entirely skipped. This resolves a soft lockup for large memory GPUs
(Samuel Crossley)
- Add vfio selftest driver for mlx5, providing another target for
exercising DMA and interrupts against a physical device (Jason
Gunthorpe)
- Hardening against read-only region promotion, preserving vm_pgoff for
unmap_mapping_range(), and reject non-shared MMIO mmaps as necessary
through vfio-platform, vfio-fsl-mc, and vfio-cdx. These prevent
future issues, though none are currently reachable (Abdifatah Suruur)
- Fix 8-byte ioeventfd support, removing a static error test that was
erroneously left in place when generalizing 8-byte io accesses (Li
RongQing)
- Fix missed RCU drain on module exit (Jiale Yao)
- Fix off-by-one boundary check in migration support within the mlx5
vfio-pci variant driver (Seongjun Hong)
- Remove drvdata usage convention across vfio-pci-core, allowing
variant drivers to freely create their own conventions and enabling a
future Rust-based variant driver. A DRM topic branch is also merged
in support of this effort, modifying the vga arbiter API to more
cleanly remove the drvdata dependency (Simon Song)
- Fix hisi_acc vfio-pci variant driver to avoid NULL pointer accesses
when bound to unsupported devices and also disabling migration
support when running on 64K host page size due to BAR mapping
constraints (Longfang Liu)
- Add device IDs for Crescent Island and Nova Lake devices to the Xe
vfio-pci variant driver (Satyanarayana K V P)
- Fix fallback mode in nvgrace-gpu variant driver to use symmetric open
and close handlers to avoid reported use-after-free issue. Remove the
resulting unnecessary test in the now single-purpose open function

Pull KVM updates from Paolo Bonzini:
"ARM:
- pKVM state isolation: years after pKVM started being enabled
upstream, we finally get the basics in the form of state isolation.
The vcpu state is now off-limit for the host for protected VMs
- pKVM also grows a hypervisor-private memory allocator, allowing it
to deal with sub-page allocation, much like everywhere else
- pKVM also lands a trace_printk() equivalent, which hopefully will
make debugging a bit easier
- First shot at annotating portions of the KVM/arm64 code to be
extracted and built on s390. The real fun is yet to come
- Allow pre-faulting of stage-2 canonical mappings from userspace,
joining x86 and s390 in implementing this feature
- Add a reverse mapping infrastructure for shadow stage-2,
significantly improving performance when MMU notifiers kick in, and
avoiding full unmap of all shadow tables for this VM
- Next step of GICv5 enablement, adding support for the IRS block,
and providing both SPI and LPI support. This is the first point
where KVM/arm64 can support an SMP GICv5 guest
- As a preliminary to eventually enabling CCA, add a bunch of
infrastructure to KVM/arm64, splitting some of the basic operations
into individual backends (normal VM, normal pKVM VM, protected pKVM
VM). This allows CCA to later slot in without polluting the rest of
KVM with its firmware-driven nonsense
- Make ID registers immutable from the point where a vcpu is able to
run, even if it fails to run. This prevents KVM from sampling
untrusted values
- Restore some type checking to the EL2 object. KVM/arm64 originally
had some strong type checking between the kernel and the EL2
object, but lost it along the way when the private hypercall
interface was (somewhat pointlessly) converted to SMCCC. Type
checking is back, syscall style, and with added sparse goodies
- Expand the FFA support to FFA_NOTIFICATION_*, and add some
sanitisation of the protocol that pKVM relays to the "trusted"
runtime
- Make GICv3 RD assignment more robust to userspace nonsense
- Convert the remaining MMU fault handler backends to
kvm_s2_fault_vma_info and co., fixing a number of bugs in the
process
- Fix the SError/SEA selftests to be both more robust and less
braindead
- Fix a smattering of documentation bugs, some of them as a result of
our AI friends spitting out credible assertions based on
non-existing symbols
- The usual collection of low impact bug fixes (SMCCC, timers, PMU)
Loongarch:
- Add separate vmid support
- Simplify MSI interrupt injection
- Add crash hypercall support
- Allow to set pv_feature until vCPU run
- Enable HW page table walk automatically in selftests
s390:
- rework page allocation for secure guest variable storage
- Selftests and documentation improvements
- Replace get_zeroed_page with kzalloc
- Fix corner cases of floating interrupt injection
- Initial arm64 on s390 support
x86:
- Clean up the handling of vcpu->arch.xen.long_mode to be consistent
and correctly handle 32-bit/64-bit alignment, and various other bug
fixes have accumulated over the months since v1
- Grab KVM's SRCU "lock" in kvm_zap_gfn_range() to fix a recurring
bug where callers fail to do so
- Fix a variety of issues in the pre-fault code that are mostly
benign in the current code base, but will show up in big ways
if/when the pre-faulting logic is used to implementing
prefetch-on-fault for the TDP MMU
- For PREEMPT_RT=y kernels, drop the rmaps' individual bit-spinlock
and just walk the rmaps' with mmu_lock taken. On the write side
(which always uses mmu_lock), the bit-spinlock was assuming that
preemption was disabled, but that is *not* true when rwlocks become
sleepable
- Prepare a memory_fault exit (paired with -EFAULT) when KVM hits an
error PFN, e.g. so that userspace can resolve transient issues
instead of killing the guest. Convert a variety of WARN()+EFAULT
paths into KVM_BUG_ON()+EIO so that KVM can hard commit to filling
memory_fault on -EFAULTs that occur in the page fault path
- Fix a NX hugepage un-accounting bug where KVM would always uncharge
the shadow MMU, even when handling TDP MMU pages
- Mask off the address space ID when checking for illegal usage of
kvm_set_internal_memslot() to prevent false negatives on the sanity
check
- Explicitly zero reserved flags when delivering a SynIC message to
avoid leaking a byte of stack information to the guest
- Rework TDX's handling of the canonical MMU root level to not rely
on userspace to fill CPUID correctly, as doing so lets userspace
trivially trigger a KVM_BUG_ON()
- Reject KVM_SET_NESTED_STATE if userspace "restores" L1 with
EFER.LMA=1 && EFER.LME=0, which confuses KVM into trying to
configure an 64-bit MMU without PAE
- Ignore EFER.LMA (clear it from KVM's cached save state) if
EFER.LME=0 when preparing L2 state, to fix another way to confuse
KVM's MMU (and because real hardware also ignores EFER.LMA)
- Improve KVM's sanity checks for a misconfigured MMU to (hopefully)
detect all of the ways KVM can botch EFER.LMA vs. CR4.PAE
- Remove the "full" out-param from kvm_x86_ops.flush_tlb_gva() as the
param is only used to avoid what effectively amounts to a single
memory write
- Fix a mostly-benign bug where KVM can write through a guest's
read-only mapping due to not checking the error code when
expediting emulated MMIO page faults
- Honor the guest's view of the "EFER.LMSLE must be zero" defeature
so that userspace can provide migration compatibility between Rome
and Milan+
- Pend a KVM_REQ_EVENT request when an exception is morphed into a
nested VM-Exit, otherwise KVM can fail to actually deliver the
nested VM-Exit, e.g. when injecting a page fault
- Add support for PML on SVM
- Add support for virtualizing Bus Lock Detect on SVM, and fix a
number of DR6 bugs and warts along the way
- Fix a variety of warts in KVM's handling of guest TSC, kvmclock,
and timekeeping in general, as a (big) first step towards
addressing several longstanding problems with the kvmclock
implementation. Most notably, fix a precision issue where
get_kvmclock_ns() computed the clock from the *host* TSC without
applying guest TSC scaling, causing systemic drift from the values
the guest computes from its own TSC
- Rip out KVM's shadow timekeeping structures, now that ktime
snapshots are powerful enough to replace it
- Misc fixes and cleanups
x86 (AMD):
- Fix a benign-in-practice bug where KVM unintentionally sets a
non-zero error code when delivering exceptions to SEV-ES+ guests
- Force a new ASID in both VMCBs on pCPU migration to fix a bug where
KVM can run a VMCB with a stale ASID due to the tracking being
per-CPU, not per-VMCB
- Return INVALID_INPUT to the guest instead of exiting to userspace
with -EIO if KVM can't access "guest request" buffer, i.e. try to
keep the guest alive if the guest or userspace goofs
x86 (Intel):
- Enable Notify VM-Exits (now called Instruction Timeout in the SDM)
and Bus Lock VM-Exits for TDX guests when they're enabled by
userspace (KVM forgot to wire up the TDX Module knobs)
- Move all common (between VMX and TDX) APIs/helpers to
common.h/main.c, and change all namespace prefixes from "vmx" to
"vt"
- Fix a thankfully benign bug (due to other areas of KVM being
hardened) where userspace can bypass INIT_MEM_REGION's address wrap
check by providing a nr_pages that will overflow a u64 when
converted to bytes, and fix an also- benign off-by-one bug in the
check (inclusive vs. exclusive)
- Set the vmcs.GUEST_ACTIVITY_STATE back to ACTIVE when userspace
sets KVM's mp_state to anything other than HALTED, e.g. so that a
vCPU doesn't get stuck in HLT if userspace emulates RESET
guest_memfd:
- Take the invalidate lock when unbinding a dying file to fix a race
with kvm_gmem_invalidate_end() that results in KVM leaving the MMU
invalidation count elevated. Not taking the lock in the first place
was pure misguided paranoid
- When binding a memslot, purge the bindings if storing the new
memslot fails, as Xarray's "store range" API can subtly fail
partway through
- Establish memslot<=>guest_memfd bindings *after* the memslot is
ready, as the memslot becomes reachable the instant the binding is
installed
- Don't grab a page refcount when reloading an SNP VMSA and stop
returning a "struct page" from guest_memfd's PFN lookup altogether,
to ensure that KVM doesn't hold any unnecessary refcounts (the
lifetime of the page is ensured by MMU notifiers and similar
hooks). Preventing unnecessary refcounts greatly simplifies
supporting in-place SHARED=>PRIVATE conversions
- Add support for in-place PRIVATE<=>SHARED conversion, i.e. allow a
single guest_memfd instance to be used for both PRIVATE and SHARED
variations of CoCo guests' memory (though not at the same time).
This eliminates the need to double allocate guest memory for TDX
and SNP, and is basically a hard requirement for pKVM, which relies
on being able to preserve memory contents on conversions
- Hack-a-fix a deadlock bug in ->error_remove_folio() by returning
-EBUSY if the filemap invalidate lock is contended. Punt on a
proper fix for the moment, as a proper fix likely involves
reworking truncate_error_folio()
- Add a pile of selftests for in-place conversions
- Misc guest_memfd cleanups
Generic:
- Move some configuration items to preprocessor symbols, to help with
arm-on-s390's need to compile the same code twice with different
values
- Allow KVM implementations to choose alternative device names, also
for s390's support of ARM virtualmachines
- Switch the KVM-VFIO interface and external consumers over to
standard file-based reference counting, eliminating all external
KVM symbol exports
Selftests:
- Rework KVM selftest's handling of memory regions all so that PPC
can force its page table allocations to be naturally aligned
- PPC support
- Fix emulation of VMPTRST and VMPTRLD when eVMCS is in-use to match
real Hyper-V's behavior
- Saturate L2's TSC frequency if stacking L1 and L2 scaling
multipliers exceeds what hardware supports, as attempting to run L2
with an illegal multiplier will either cause VM-Entry to fail (VMX)
or trigger a #GP when writing MSR_AMD64_TSC_RATIO (SVM). The #GP is
thankfully benign in the grand scheme as even "unsafe" WRMSRs have
exception fixup
- Rework KVM selftest's handling of memory regions so that PPC can
force its page table allocations to be naturally aligned
- Clean up selftest's VMX instruction helpers, and drop an absurd
number of completely useless return values, e.g. functions that
unconditionally return %true and then have every caller assert
success
- Add selftests support for Zhaoxin CPUs
- Overhaul the TSC scaling test to add a regression test for the
saturation behavior, and to increase its coverage in general
- Fix selftests usage various NUMA syscalls to account for an
undocumented, but known since 2007, off-by-one kernel bug. Add
helpers to try and avoid re-introducing the same flaws in the
future
- Automatically run xAPIC IPI migration test (between NUMA nodes)
when possible, as the entire point of the test is verify KVM's
handling of page migration of the APIC backing page
- Misc cleanups"

Commit 45e1dccc0653 ("x86/insn: Simplify for_each_insn_prefix()") made
for_each_insn_prefix() declare its own loop counter named idx.
get_seg_reg_override_idx() keeps its result in a local of the same name,
so the assignments in the loop body now write the loop counter:
- the function always returns INAT_SEG_REG_DEFAULT, so FS and GS
overrides are ignored;
- a CS override sets the counter to INAT_SEG_REG_CS (2), the increment
makes it 3, and prefixes.bytes[3] holds the last prefix, 0x2e again,
so the loop never terminates.
The UMIP emulation reaches this from the #GP handler for user space: an
SGDT, SIDT or SMSW with a memory operand and a CS prefix leaves the task
spinning in the kernel, never returning to user space, with a SIGKILL
that is never delivered. Any user can thus tie up CPUs until reboot.
With an FS or GS prefix, the emulated result is written to the wrong
address.

These are needed by the VFIO mlx5 selftest in the following patches,
which includes some headers from mlx5 and also needs a few more
MMIO-related features.
- DECLARE_FLEX_ARRAY in new tools/include/linux/stddef.h (wraps
existing __DECLARE_FLEX_ARRAY from uapi/linux/stddef.h)
- dma_wmb/dma_rmb barriers: x86 uses compiler barrier
(DMA-coherent), arm64 uses dmb oshst/oshld (outer-shareable for
device visibility), generic fallback uses wmb/rmb
- ioread32be/iowrite32be in tools/include/asm-generic/io.h for
big-endian MMIO register access

Per AIA spec 1.0 Section 6.3.2, the interrupt numbers 13-63
shares same bit position between related VS shadow CSRs and
hypervisor CSRs. So there's a shift only for SSI, STI and
SEI interrupt.
Currently the KVM always does a shift for all the interrupts
(include LCOFI with number 13) when doing the conversion
between vsip and hvip. Fix this by only doing shift the SSI,
STI and SEI. Add wrappers for doing the conversion between
vsip and hvip.

Introduce KVM_DEV_ARM_VGIC_GRP_IST as the VGICv5 device attribute
group used to transfer SPI and LPI IST state between KVM and userspace
during migration.
The group uses struct kvm_vgic_v5_ist as a descriptor for the
userspace-owned SPI and LPI IST buffers. Each buffer contains the
architected 32-bit ISTE state for the corresponding interrupt number
space, while the host IST layout remains private to KVM.
The descriptor is architecture-specific, as it is only the payload of
an ARM VGIC device attribute.

As part of saving and restoring the state of a GICv5-based system,
userspace must save and restore the IRS MMIO registers. These include
important information such as the guest IST configuration, and KVM
must present consistent state to the guest after migration.
Introduce KVM_DEV_ARM_VGIC_GRP_IRS_REGS and provide accessors to read
and write the virtual IRS register state. This is modelled on the
GICv3 ITS register interface, as the migration requirements are
broadly the same.
Reuse the guest MMIO handlers where userspace and guest accesses have
the same semantics. Add userspace-specific handling where restoring a
register image must not trigger the operation associated with a guest
MMIO write.
Validate restored ID register fields against the capabilities KVM and
the host can support. Restore the emulated IST configuration without
allocating or freeing a host IST, and report operation status
registers as idle. Accept writes to IRS_SPI_CFGR, IRS_IIDR, and
IRS_AIDR without changing their state, allowing userspace to replay
the values it previously read.
Restoring IRS_IST_BASER.Valid recreates the guest-visible
configuration, but the host LPI IST cannot be allocated until
userspace supplies its contents. Track this as a pending LPI IST
restore and reject guest entry until userspace restores the IST
through KVM_DEV_ARM_VGIC_GRP_IST.

Define the UAPI address type used by userspace to describe the
location of the emulated IRS in guest physical address space, together
with the size reserved for that region.
As per the GICv5 specification, the IRS has one CONFIG_FRAME and
optionally one SETLPI_FRAME per interrupt domain. Within a KVM VM we
are only concerned with one interrupt domain. Each of these frames is
64kB in size, so reserve 2x64kB of contiguous memory in the GPA space
for a GICv5 IRS.

queued_spin_lock_slowpath() and queued_spin_unlock() are dispatched
through pv_ops_lock via the paravirt-ops ALTERNATIVE machinery, which
picks the target (native inline store / hypervisor call) once at boot
and cannot change at runtime.
Convert both to static_call(). The site becomes a direct call patched in
place (one byte smaller), and on native the unlock still collapses to
the inline "movb $0, (%rdi)" store, so the fast path is unchanged.
Unlike the ALTERNATIVE mechanism, a static_call() target can also be
updated at runtime via static_call_update(). This is a prerequisite for
the contended_release tracepoint, which has to swap in a traced unlock
while the system is running.
[ ilvokhin: commit message; fix PARAVIRT_SPINLOCKS=n build; teach
__static_call_validate() about the inline unlock insn; make the

This was there to be able to patch out locking instructions when running
a SMP kernel build on a UP CPU. The times are long gone when single-CPU
x86 machines were relevant so drop that machinery and simplify the code
considerably.
LOCK_PREFIX needs to stay for when one wants to do a UP build for
whatever reason. That'll go away when CONFIG_SMP becomes unconditional.
Kill a bunch of leftover, unused prototypes while at it.

Pull openat2 updates from Christian Brauner:
"Features:
- Add O_EMPTYPATH to openat(2)/openat2(2). To get an operable file
descriptor from an O_PATH file descriptor it is possible to use
openat(fd, ".", O_DIRECTORY) for directories, but other file types
require going through open("/proc/<pid>/fd/<nr>") and thus depend
on a functioning procfs.
With O_EMPTYPATH an empty path string is accepted and LOOKUP_EMPTY
is set at path resolution time, allowing to reopen the file behind
the file descriptor directly. Selftests are included.
- Add an OPENAT2_REGULAR flag for openat2(2) which refuses to open
anything but regular files with the new EFTYPE error code.
This implements the "ability to only open regular files" feature
requested by userspace via uapi-group.org and protects services
from being redirected to fifos, device nodes, and friends.
All atomic_open implementations were audited for OPENAT2_REGULAR
handling. Explicit checks were added to ceph, gfs2, nfs (v4), and
cifs/smb - these are the filesystems whose atomic_open can
encounter an existing non-regular file and would otherwise call
finish_open() on it or return a misleading error code.
The remaining implementations (9p, fuse, vboxsf, nfs v2/v3) only
call finish_open() on freshly created files and use
finish_no_open() for lookup hits, letting the VFS catch non-regular
files via the do_open() safety net.
Cleanups:
- Migrate the openat2 selftests to the kselftest harness and move
them under selftests/filesystems/. The tests were written in the
early days of selftests' TAP support and the modern kselftest
harness is much easier to follow and maintain. The contents of the
tests are unchanged and the new emptypath tests are ported on top.
- Make the LAST_XXX last-type constants private to fs/namei.c. The
only user outside of fs/namei.c was ksmbd which only needs to know
whether the last component is a regular one, so
vfs_path_parent_lookup() now performs the LAST_NORM check
internally. The ints are replaced with a dedicated enum last_type"

Introduce a new error code EFTYPE for wrong file type operations.
EFTYPE is already used in BSD systems like FreeBSD and macOS.
This will be used by the upcoming OPENAT2_REGULAR flag support to
return a specific error when a path doesn't refer to a regular file.

Pull kvm updates from Paolo Bonzini:
"Arm:
- Add support for tracing in the standalone EL2 hypervisor code,
which should help both debugging and performance analysis. This
uses the new infrastructure for 'remote' trace buffers that can be
exposed by non-kernel entities such as firmware, and which came
through the tracing tree
- Add support for GICv5 Per Processor Interrupts (PPIs), as the
starting point for supporting the new GIC architecture in KVM
- Finally add support for pKVM protected guests, where pages are
unmapped from the host as they are faulted into the guest and can
be shared back from the guest using pKVM hypercalls. Protected
guests are created using a new machine type identifier. As the
elusive guestmem has not yet delivered on its promises, anonymous
memory is also supported
This is only a first step towards full isolation from the host; for
example, the CPU register state and DMA accesses are not yet
isolated. Because this does not really yet bring fully what it
promises, it is hidden behind CONFIG_ARM_PKVM_GUEST +
'kvm-arm.mode=protected', and also triggers TAINT_USER when a VM is
created. Caveat emptor
- Rework the dreaded user_mem_abort() function to make it more
maintainable, reducing the amount of state being exposed to the
various helpers and rendering a substantial amount of state
immutable
- Expand the Stage-2 page table dumper to support NV shadow page
tables on a per-VM basis
- Tidy up the pKVM PSCI proxy code to be slightly less hard to
follow
- Fix both SPE and TRBE in non-VHE configurations so that they do not
generate spurious, out of context table walks that ultimately lead
to very bad HW lockups
- A small set of patches fixing the Stage-2 MMU freeing in error
cases
- Tighten-up accepted SMC immediate value to be only #0 for host
SMCCC calls
- The usual cleanups and other selftest churn
LoongArch:
- Use CSR_CRMD_PLV for kvm_arch_vcpu_in_kernel()
- Add DMSINTC irqchip in kernel support
RISC-V:
- Fix steal time shared memory alignment checks
- Fix vector context allocation leak
- Fix array out-of-bounds in pmu_ctr_read() and pmu_fw_ctr_read_hi()
- Fix double-free of sdata in kvm_pmu_clear_snapshot_area()
- Fix integer overflow in kvm_pmu_validate_counter_mask()
- Fix shift-out-of-bounds in make_xfence_request()
- Fix lost write protection on huge pages during dirty logging
- Split huge pages during fault handling for dirty logging
- Skip CSR restore if VCPU is reloaded on the same core
- Implement kvm_arch_has_default_irqchip() for KVM selftests
- Factored-out ISA checks into separate sources
- Added hideleg to struct kvm_vcpu_config
- Factored-out VCPU config into separate sources
- Support configuration of per-VM HGATP mode from KVM user space
s390:
- Support for ESA (31-bit) guests inside nested hypervisors
- Remove restriction on memslot alignment, which is not needed
anymore with the new gmap code
- Fix LPSW/E to update the bear (which of course is the breaking
event address register)
x86:
- Shut up various UBSAN warnings on reading module parameter before
they were initialized
- Don't zero-allocate page tables that are used for splitting
hugepages in the TDP MMU, as KVM is guaranteed to set all SPTEs in
the page table and thus write all bytes
- As an optimization, bail early when trying to unsync 4KiB mappings
if the target gfn can just be mapped with a 2MiB hugepage
x86 generic:
- Copy single-chunk MMIO write values into struct kvm_vcpu (more
precisely struct kvm_mmio_fragment) to fix use-after-free stack
bugs where KVM would dereference stack pointer after an exit to
userspace
- Clean up and comment the emulated MMIO code to try to make it
easier to maintain (not necessarily "easy", but "easier")
- Move VMXON+VMXOFF and EFER.SVME toggling out of KVM (not *all* of
VMX and SVM enabling) as it is needed for trusted I/O
- Advertise support for AVX512 Bit Matrix Multiply (BMM) instructions
- Immediately fail the build if a required #define is missing in one
of KVM's headers that is included multiple times
- Reject SET_GUEST_DEBUG with -EBUSY if there's an already injected
exception, mostly to prevent syzkaller from abusing the uAPI to
trigger WARNs, but also because it can help prevent userspace from
unintentionally crashing the VM
- Exempt SMM from CPUID faulting on Intel, as per the spec
- Misc hardening and cleanup changes
x86 (AMD):
- Fix and optimize IRQ window inhibit handling for AVIC; make it
per-vCPU so that KVM doesn't prematurely re-enable AVIC if multiple
vCPUs have to-be-injected IRQs
- Clean up and optimize the OSVW handling, avoiding a bug in which
KVM would overwrite state when enabling virtualization on multiple
CPUs in parallel. This should not be a problem because OSVW should
usually be the same for all CPUs
- Drop a WARN in KVM_MEMORY_ENCRYPT_REG_REGION where KVM complains
about a "too large" size based purely on user input
- Clean up and harden the pinning code for KVM_MEMORY_ENCRYPT_REG_REGION
- Disallow synchronizing a VMSA of an already-launched/encrypted
vCPU, as doing so for an SNP guest will crash the host due to an
RMP violation page fault
- Overhaul KVM's APIs for detecting SEV+ guests so that VM-scoped
queries are required to hold kvm->lock, and enforce it by lockdep.
Fix various bugs where sev_guest() was not ensured to be stable for
the whole duration of a function or ioctl
- Convert a pile of kvm->lock SEV code to guard()
- Play nicer with userspace that does not enable
KVM_CAP_EXCEPTION_PAYLOAD, for which KVM needs to set CR2 and DR6
as a response to ioctls such as KVM_GET_VCPU_EVENTS (even if the
payload would end up in EXITINFO2 rather than CR2, for example).
Only set CR2 and DR6 when consumption of the payload is imminent,
but on the other hand force delivery of the payload in all paths
where userspace retrieves CR2 or DR6
- Use vcpu->arch.cr2 when updating vmcb12's CR2 on nested #VMEXIT
instead of vmcb02->save.cr2. The value is out of sync after a
save/restore or after a #PF is injected into L2
- Fix a class of nSVM bugs where some fields written by the CPU are
not synchronized from vmcb02 to cached vmcb12 after VMRUN, and so
are not up-to-date when saved by KVM_GET_NESTED_STATE
- Fix a class of bugs where the ordering between KVM_SET_NESTED_STATE
and KVM_SET_{S}REGS could cause vmcb02 to be incorrectly
initialized after save+restore
- Add a variety of missing nSVM consistency checks
- Fix several bugs where KVM failed to correctly update VMCB fields
on nested #VMEXIT
- Fix several bugs where KVM failed to correctly synthesize #UD or
#GP for SVM-related instructions
- Add support for save+restore of virtualized LBRs (on SVM)
- Refactor various helpers and macros to improve clarity and
(hopefully) make the code easier to maintain
- Aggressively sanitize fields when copying from vmcb12, to guard
against unintentionally allowing L1 to utilize yet-to-be-defined
features
- Fix several bugs where KVM botched rAX legality checks when
emulating SVM instructions. There are remaining issues in that KVM
doesn't handle size prefix overrides for 64-bit guests
- Fail emulation of VMRUN/VMLOAD/VMSAVE if mapping vmcb12 fails
instead of somewhat arbitrarily synthesizing #GP (i.e. don't double
down on AMD's architectural but sketchy behavior of generating #GP
for "unsupported" addresses)
- Cache all used vmcb12 fields to further harden against TOCTOU bugs
x86 (Intel):
- Drop obsolete branch hint prefixes from the VMX instruction macros
- Use ASM_INPUT_RM() in __vmcs_writel() to coerce clang into using a
register input when appropriate
- Code cleanups
guest_memfd:
- Don't mark guest_memfd folios as accessed, as guest_memfd doesn't
support reclaim, the memory is unevictable, and there is no storage
to write back to
LoongArch selftests:
- Add KVM PMU test cases
s390 selftests:
- Enable more memory selftests
x86 selftests:
- Add support for Hygon CPUs in KVM selftests
- Fix a bug in the MSR test where it would get false failures on
AMD/Hygon CPUs with exactly one of RDPID or RDTSCP
- Add an MADV_COLLAPSE testcase for guest_memfd as a regression test
for a bug where the kernel would attempt to collapse guest_memfd
folios against KVM's will"

Some future AMD processors have feature named "CPPC Performance
Priority" which lets userspace specify different floor performance
levels for different CPUs. The platform firmware takes these different
floor performance levels into consideration while throttling the CPUs
under power/thermal constraints. The presence of this feature is
indicated by bit 16 of the EDX register for CPUID leaf
0x80000007. More details can be found in AMD Publication titled "AMD64
Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC) Performance
Priority" Revision 1.10.
Define a new feature bit named X86_FEATURE_CPPC_PERF_PRIO to map to

GICv5 systems will likely not support the full set of PPIs. The
presence of any virtual PPI is tied to the presence of the physical
PPI. Therefore, the available PPIs will be limited by the physical
host. Userspace cannot drive any PPIs that are not implemented.
Moreover, it is not desirable to expose all PPIs to the guest in the
first place, even if they are supported in hardware. Some devices,
such as the arch timer, are implemented in KVM, and hence those PPIs
shouldn't be driven by userspace, either.
Provided a new UAPI:
KVM_DEV_ARM_VGIC_GRP_CTRL => KVM_DEV_ARM_VGIC_USERPSPACE_PPIs
This allows userspace to query which PPIs it is able to drive via
KVM_IRQ_LINE.
Additionally, introduce a check in kvm_vm_ioctl_irq_line() to reject
any PPIs not in the userspace mask.
