Replace the #include of <linux/mod_devicetable.h> by the more specific
<linux/device-id/*.h> where applicable. For most cases the include
can be dropped completely, only a few drivers need one or two headers
added.

Replace the local gyro_3d_adjust_channel_bit_mask() function with a
compound literal for scan_type initialization to improve code
readability. Additionaly, clean up the channel initialization
loop by iterating directly over the channel scan indices.

While being less compact, using named initializers allows to more easily
see which members of the structs are assigned which value without having
to lookup the declaration of the struct. And it's also more robust
against changes to the struct definition.
The mentioned robustness is relevant for a planned change to struct
i2c_device_id that replaces .driver_data by an anonymous union.
This patch doesn't modify the compiled arrays, only their representation
in source form benefits. The former was confirmed with x86 and arm64
builds.

Remove the SSP_CHAN_TIMESTAMP() macro and replace users with the
IIO_CHAN_SOFT_TIMESTAMP() macro. The SSP_CHAN_TIMESTAMP() macro is
identical to the IIO_CHAN_SOFT_TIMESTAMP() macro, so we don't need
a separate macro for it.

bmg160_chip_init() calls bmg160_set_mode(BMG160_MODE_NORMAL) and
then waits only 500-1000 us. Per the BMG160 datasheet
(BST-BMG160-DS000-07 Rev. 1.0, May 2013), the start-up and wake-up
times (tsu, twusm) are 30 ms.
The same file already waits BMG160_MAX_STARTUP_TIME_MS (80 ms)
in bmg160_runtime_resume() after the same set_mode(NORMAL)
operation. The 500 us value at probe was likely a unit mix-up;
the old comment said "500 ms" while the code used microseconds.
Reuse the same constant via msleep() and add a code comment
explaining the datasheet basis for the wait. Without this,
register writes that follow the mode change can hit the chip
before it is ready.

bmg160_get_filter() walks bmg160_samp_freq_table[] looking for the entry
matching the bw_bits value read from the chip:

Return -EINVAL when no entry matches.
The set_filter() path is reachable from userspace via the sysfs
in_anglvel_filter_low_pass_3db_frequency interface, so userspace can
trivially trigger the out-of-bounds read with a value that is not in
bmg160_samp_freq_table[].filter.

itg3200_read_all_channels() takes `__be16 *buf' as a parameter and
fills the i2c_msg destination as `(char *)&buf'. Since `buf' is the
parameter (a pointer), `&buf' is the address of the local pointer
slot on the stack of itg3200_read_all_channels(), not the address
of the caller's scan buffer. The (char *) cast hides the type
mismatch.
i2c_transfer() therefore writes ITG3200_SCAN_ELEMENTS * sizeof(s16)
= 8 bytes into the parameter's stack slot, which is discarded when
the function returns. The caller's scan buffer in
itg3200_trigger_handler() is never written to, so
iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp() pushes uninitialised stack
contents to userspace via /dev/iio:deviceX every scan -- both a
functional bug (no actual gyroscope or temperature data is
delivered through the triggered buffer) and an information leak.
The non-buffered read_raw() path is unaffected: it goes through
itg3200_read_reg_s16() which uses `&out' on a local s16 value,
where that is correct.
Drop the spurious `&' so the i2c read writes into the caller's
buffer.

Add a validation check for the sampling frequency value before using it
as a divisor. A user writing zero to the sampling_frequency sysfs

The triggered buffer is initialized before the IRQ is requested. The
removal path currently calls iio_triggered_buffer_cleanup() before
free_irq(). This violates the expected LIFO.
Place free_irq() in the correct location relative to
iio_triggered_buffer_cleanup().

The interrupt handler is setup but only a few lines down if
iio_trigger_register() fails the function returns without properly
releasing the handler.

The return value of pm_runtime_get_sync() is not checked, allowing
the driver to access hardware that may fail to resume. The device
usage count is also unconditionally incremented. Use
pm_runtime_resume_and_get() which propagates errors and avoids
incrementing the usage count on failure.
In preenable, add pm_runtime_put_autosuspend() on set_8khz_samplerate()
failure since postdisable does not run when preenable fails.

The return value of pm_runtime_get_sync() is not checked, and the
function always returns success. This allows I2C mux operations to
proceed even when the device fails to resume.
Use pm_runtime_resume_and_get() and propagate its return value to
properly handle resume failures.

The return value from itg3200_read_reg_s16() is stored in ret but
never checked. The function unconditionally returns IIO_VAL_INT,
ignoring potential I2C read failures. This causes garbage data to
be returned to userspace when the read fails, with no error reported.
Add proper error checking to propagate the failure to callers.

Passing IRQF_ONESHOT ensures that the interrupt source is masked until
the secondary (threaded) handler is done. If only a primary handler is
used then the flag makes no sense because the interrupt can not fire
(again) while its handler is running.
The flag also disallows force-threading of the primary handler and the
irq-core will warn about this.
The intention here was probably not allowing forced-threading for
handlers such as iio_trigger_generic_data_rdy_poll() will intends to
invoke hard-interrupt handlers.
Replace IRQF_ONESHOT with IRQF_NO_THREAD.

Regulator requesting may result in deferred probing error which will
abort driver probing. To avoid this just use dev_err_probe which handles

There is really no reason for having the IRQ name as a macro definition
if it is only used once (often in functions requesting the IRQ). It
is also more readable this way. Remove these macro definitions and
instead use the string literal directly.

Use `\t(\{ ?\},|\{\}|\{\s*/\*.*\*/\s*\},?)$` regex to find and replace
the array sentinel in all IIO drivers to the same style.
For some time, we've been trying to consistently use `{ }` (no trailing
comma, no comment, one space between braces) for array sentinels in the
IIO subsystem. Still nearly 50% of existing code uses a different style.
To save reviewers from having to request this trivial change as
frequently, let's normalize the style in all existing IIO drivers.
At least when code is copy/pasted to new drivers, the style will be
consistent.

The fxas21002c_trigger_handler() may fail to acquire sample data because
the runtime PM enters the autosuspend state and sensor can not return
sample data in standby mode..
Resume the sensor before reading the sample data into the buffer within the
trigger handler. After the data is read, place the sensor back into the
autosuspend state.

write_event_config callback use an int for state, but it is actually a
boolean. iio_ev_state_store is actually using kstrtobool to check user
input, then gives the converted boolean value to write_event_config.
Fix signature and update all iio drivers to use the new signature.
This patch has been partially written using coccinelle with the
following script:

Unfortunately, this script didn't match all files:
* all write_event_config callbacks using iio_device_claim_direct_scoped
were not detected and not patched.
* all files that do not assign and declare the write_event_config
callback in the same file.
iio.h was also manually updated.
The patch was build tested using allmodconfig config.

The commits in question do not proove that ACPI IDs exist.
Quite likely it was a cargo cult addition while doing that
for DT-based enumeration. Drop most likely fake ACPI IDs.
The to be removed IDs has been checked against the following resources:
1) DuckDuckGo
2) Google
3) MS catalog: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx
This gives no useful results in regard to DSDT, moreover, the official
vendor IDs in the registry for Bosh are BSG and BOSC.

After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove()
return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for
platform drivers.
Convert all platform drivers below drivers/iio/ to use .remove(), with
the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As
.remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done
by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer.
While touching these files, make indention of the struct initializer
consistent in several files.

might as well move that thing to linux/unaligned.h and include
that - there's nothing arch-specific in that header.

Use the new auto cleanup based locks so error paths are simpler.
While at it, reduce a bit the scope of the lock as we did not needed it
protecting all the data in the switch() branch.
