When cookie authentication is disabled, COOKIE-ECHO peer_addr is
attacker-controlled. An invalid sa_family made sctp_get_af_specific()
return NULL and crash in sctp_transport_init() on
af_specific->sockaddr_len. Validate it with af->addr_valid() in
sctp_unpack_cookie(), which also rejects a mismatched family, e.g.
an AF_INET6 peer_addr on an IPv4 socket that would later crash in
sctp_v6_get_dst() on inet6_sk(sk)->opt. Validate a copy of peer_addr,
since addr_valid() rewrites a v4-mapped v6 address in place and the
cookie still lives in the received skb, which is not guaranteed to
be unshared. Store the validated copy in the new association and
pass it to sctp_process_init() instead of the raw cookie, so a
v4-mapped v6 address is normalised to AF_INET before the association
and its primary transport are built from it.
For that, sctp_v6_addr_valid() has to return 0 for a non-v4-mapped
address when it is called with a socket that is not PF_INET6, so that
IPv6 addresses are never used on IPv4 sockets. The check is done after
the v4-mapped handling, so v4-mapped addresses passed to an IPv4
socket through the socket API keep being accepted. As addr_valid()
now also checks sk_family and ipv6_only_sock, simplify the address
handling in sctp_process_param() with it, as it additionally filters
out non-unicast addresses. As a side effect, a v4-mapped address in
an IPv6 address parameter is now normalised to AF_INET before the
transport is created, matching what the socket API paths already do.
Also add the missing !af check in sctp_process_init(), as
sctp_get_af_specific(AF_INET6) returns NULL on CONFIG_IPV6=n builds.

skb_unshare() only copies cloned skbs. A shared skb that is not a clone
comes back unchanged, which the name doesn't suggest. The loopback
selftest hooks got caught by this and hit BUG_ON(skb_shared()).
Rename it to skb_unclone_full(). Like skb_unclone() it only acts on
clones, but it copies the whole skb, not just the head.

sctp_sendmsg_to_asoc() selects a transport before waiting for a new
interleaved association to become established. sctp_wait_for_connect()
drops the socket lock while sleeping.
While the lock is dropped, backlog processing can handle a COOKIE ACK and
an ASCONF DEL-IP that removes the selected transport. sctp_assoc_rm_peer()
then marks the transport dead and drops its association-owned reference.
The transport can be freed through RCU before the send path resumes.
After the wait, the stale pointer is assigned to newly created DATA or
I-DATA chunks and later dereferenced by sctp_outq_select_transport().
Hold a reference to the selected transport across
sctp_wait_for_connect(). After the socket lock is reacquired, abort the
send if the transport was marked dead. Callers without a selected
transport pass NULL and retain their existing behavior.

sctp_sock_migrate() transfers DATA chunk ownership but leaves retained
control chunks pointing at the old socket. A later retransmission can
therefore access the socket after it has been freed.
Extend the migration walk to cover retained control chunks and use
sctp_control_set_owner_w() to assign their new owner. Reuse the DATA
ownership check so each chunk is processed once per pass, even when it
is reachable through multiple lists or retained pointers.
Preserve a control chunk's existing authentication key across migration
so its final release can still generate SCTP_AUTH_FREE_KEY when needed.

sctp_sock_migrate() transfers queued DATA skbs from the old socket to the
new one. skb_orphan() invokes sctp_wfree() during that transfer and drops
the skb-owned shared-key reference.
If userspace has removed that key from the association, this can be the
final reference. The following sctp_set_owner_w() then dereferences the
freed chunk->shkey while trying to take the new owner reference.
Take a temporary shared-key reference before orphaning the skb and release
it after the new owner has taken its reference. This preserves the selected
authentication key throughout the ownership transfer.

When message interleaving is enabled, the first send waits for association
establishment before building its data chunks. The wait drops the socket
lock, and handshake processing can reduce the output stream count to the
peer-advertised inbound stream count. sctp_stream_init() then frees the
extension of every removed stream.
The sender resumes with the stream that it checked before the wait. If the
peer removed that stream, sctp_outq_tail() later dereferences its NULL
extension. Fatal-oops policies then panic the host.

A range check alone is insufficient. Stream reconfiguration can grow the
output count again while the lock is released without recreating extensions
freed by the earlier shrink. The stream can then be in range while its
extension remains NULL. The send-buffer wait has the same issue.
Factor the range and extension checks into a helper and repeat both after
each send-path wait that drops the socket lock. Once the lock is
reacquired, the validation remains stable through data creation and
queueing.
If validation fails after the connect wait, the auto-created association is
already established. Return ESRCH so the existing caller path keeps it
under state-machine ownership instead of freeing it directly, which would
leave protocol, counter and socket state inconsistent.

!streamoute
When an SCTP stream output extension structure (streamoute) has not yet
been allocated, sctp_getsockopt_pr_streamstatus() sets the local stack
variables params.sprstat_abandoned_unsent = 0 and
params.sprstat_abandoned_sent = 0, but then immediately jumps to 'out:',
bypassing copy_to_user(). As a result, when an uninitialized user buffer
is passed to getsockopt(SCTP_PR_STREAM_STATUS), the kernel returns
success (0) without copying the zeroed stats back to user space, leaving
uninitialized data in the user buffer.
Refactor the !streamoute check into an if-else chain so that when
streamoute is NULL, params is zeroed and falls through to copy_to_user(),
copying the zeroed stats to user space and setting retval = 0 once before
returning.
Tested in QEMU against Linux 7.3.0-rc3 using an uninitialized
sctp_prstatus user struct passed to getsockopt(SCTP_PR_STREAM_STATUS) on a
freshly created stream: on the unfixed kernel the user struct contains
uninitialized stack garbage; whereas with this fix applied, getsockopt()
copies zeroed stats into user space and returns 0.

sctp_wait_for_connect() drops the socket lock while it sleeps. An
out-of-the-blue ABORT can then be processed from the socket backlog and
unlink the association. If a concurrent shutdown(fd, SHUT_RD) sets
RCV_SHUTDOWN, the waiter breaks with err == 0 before checking
asoc->base.dead. Its final sctp_association_put() can then free the
association, leaving sctp_sendmsg_to_asoc() to continue with a dangling
pointer.
Check RCV_SHUTDOWN along with the wait error in sctp_sendmsg_to_asoc()
before using the association again. The check only accesses the socket,
so it needs no additional association reference. Return the existing
-ESRCH so that sctp_sendmsg() skips freeing a new association that may
already have been destroyed.
Keep sctp_wait_for_connect() unchanged to preserve its behavior for the
connect() caller.

Take the association or transport reference before rearming a timer in the
timer handlers.
The existing code calls mod_timer() before taking the reference needed by
the rearmed timer without holding the sock lock. This creates a race with
timer cleanup: if the timer is deleted after mod_timer() returns but before
the reference is taken, the cleanup path can drop the timer's reference and
destroy the transport or association. The timer handler then takes a
reference on the already freed object and eventually drops it, causing a
refcount underflow.
Hold the object before mod_timer() and drop the reference if mod_timer()
reports that the timer was already pending in timer handlers. Apply the
same ordering to the proto-unreachable path, which can rearm a transport
timer outside the timer handlers without holding the sock lock.

When an association is in COOKIE-ECHOED state and the peer sends a
bundled [ERROR(Stale Cookie)][DATA] packet from one of its non-primary
addresses, processing the ERROR chunk takes the non-fatal stale-cookie
retry path sctp_sf_do_5_2_6_stale(), which queues
SCTP_CMD_DEL_NON_PRIMARY while keeping the association alive.
sctp_cmd_del_non_primary() removes every non-primary transport -
including the very transport this packet arrived on, which is still
referenced by the receive lookup and shared by all chunks of the
packet via chunk->transport.
sctp_assoc_rm_peer() does redirect asoc->peer.last_data_from away from
the removed transport, but right afterwards the bundled DATA chunk
makes sctp_assoc_bh_rcv() re-register
asoc->peer.last_data_from = chunk->transport unconditionally, undoing
the redirection with the just-removed transport.
Once the packet is done, the receive reference is dropped and the
transport is RCU-freed, while the surviving association keeps the
dangling last_data_from. A later FWD-TSN (or the delayed SACK timer)
makes sctp_gen_sack() dereference it (->param_flags and friends), and
sctp_make_sack()/sctp_outq_select_transport() may write to the freed
object and link it into the live transport list. This is a
use-after-free triggerable by any malicious SCTP peer (or a local
unprivileged user acting as one) with no capabilities required:

Note that commit 03a9d10ecf71 ("sctp: drop a chunk if its transport
was removed") only covers the window between the receive lookup and
the chunk processing (e.g. an ASCONF DEL-IP racing the socket backlog);
here the transport is removed *while* the packet is being processed,
by an earlier chunk of the same packet, so the drop in sctp_inq_push()
does not reach this path. Verified with the bundled [ERROR(Stale
Cookie)][DATA] + FWD-TSN reproducer: the KASAN report above still
fires with that commit applied, and is gone with this patch on top.
Fix it by discarding the rest of the packet on this path, as suggested
by Xin. After the stale-cookie ERROR has sent the association back to
COOKIE-WAIT and removed the non-primary transports, the remaining
chunks of the packet can only run against the restarted handshake
while referencing the removed arrival transport through
chunk->transport: besides the last_data_from registration above,
sctp_cmd_setup_t2() and the sctp_make_*() reply builders would also
copy that pointer into association-lifetime state that
sctp_assoc_rm_peer() has already sanitized. Let the peer retransmit
them, in line with what sctp_inq_push() does for chunks whose
transport was removed before processing.

sctp_assoc_update_retran_path() can loop forever when every remaining
transport, including retran_path, is SCTP_UNCONFIRMED: the state check
runs before the wraparound test, so the loop cannot observe that it has
completed a full pass.
Fix this by considering a transport only when it is not UNCONFIRMED,
then checking whether the walk has returned to retran_path. This makes
the full-pass termination independent of the transport state while
preserving the existing fallback selection semantics.
Also restore the NULL guard around the retran_path assignment. In the
all-UNCONFIRMED case there is no eligible replacement transport, and
installing NULL would leave later retransmit-path users and the debug
print with a NULL path.

Commit 71338aa7d050c ("net: convert %p usage to %pK") which is from
2011 and changed the %p annotation for pointer to %pK. Back then the
default behaviour for %p was to print the pointer. The %pK modifier was
introduced to able to control the behaviour of specific pointer values
without changing the behaviour of %p for everyone. It was dedicated to
avoid leaking pointers via /proc.
There was also the idea to remove the check from formatting the string
and move to the open callback with some helpers but this did not happen.
Things changed over time. The default behaviour for %p is now to print a
hash pointer which does not leak the address but allows to correlate if
two pointers are equal.
The policy on %p is to not introduce new ones. This is somehow in
between since it already exists. The pointer are usually socket pointers
and I don't see any value in exposing them. Therefore I am following the
recommendation of removing them. Since their usage in /proc/ can be
considered ABI I replace the pointer with a 0.
Replace the %pK annotation with 0 value. Correct the spacing for the
cases where pointer is at the beginning.

SCTP chunks always include a four-byte generic header, but
sctp_inq_pop() currently accepts shorter declared lengths. A zero-length
chunk leaves chunk_end at the current header.
When ASCONF is covered by the association's SCTP-AUTH policy,
sctp_assoc_bh_rcv() can continue before the state machine performs its
normal chunk-length check. sctp_inq_pop() then returns the same malformed
chunk repeatedly and the receive softirq can lock up.
A remote SCTP peer can trigger this after establishing an association on
a kernel built with CONFIG_IP_SCTP and configured with
net.sctp.addip_enable=1 and net.sctp.auth_enable=1. The reproducer did
not require application credentials, a shared SCTP AUTH key, or
net.sctp.addip_noauth_enable=1.
On commit f967455fb2a5 ("seg6: reset IP6CB after IPv6 decapsulation"),
one zero-length ASCONF caused repeated
watchdog soft-lockup reports in a two-vCPU KVM guest. All 3 pre-trigger
health probes succeeded, while 36 of 37 post-trigger probes failed. With
this change, all 37 post-trigger probes succeeded and no equivalent
soft-lockup signature appeared.
Reject chunks shorter than the generic SCTP header at the shared inqueue
parser boundary. Mark the packet for discard before either caller can
continue processing it, while preserving the four-byte generic minimum.
Declared-length 1 through 4 controls and kernel-generated ASCONF traffic
remained healthy. The patched sctp_hello selftest passed for IPv4 and
IPv6.
The complete private reproducer and validation evidence are available
directly to maintainers on request.

sctp_verify_asconf() walks ASCONF-ACK parameters with
sctp_walk_params(), which advances by SCTP_PAD4(length), while the
consumer sctp_get_asconf_response() iterates the same parameters
advancing by the raw length, without padding. A single odd-length

interpret attacker-controlled bytes at a misaligned offset.
When those bytes yield a length of zero, the while loop over
asconf_ack_len makes no progress, spinning forever in softirq
context, and the watchdog reports a soft lockup. All reads stay
within the received skb, so the lockup is a pure remote denial of
service. A remote peer can trigger it with a crafted ASCONF-ACK on
an ADD-IP enabled association with an outstanding ASCONF (RFC 5061
section 4.1.2 requires the chunk to be authenticated, but the
predefined empty key id 0 allows the peer to compute the same
association HMAC from publicly exchanged parameters, so the gate
does not help).
The SCTP_PARAM_ERR_CAUSE case of sctp_verify_asconf() also performs
no length check, letting a parameter without a complete error
header reach the consumer, which reads errhdr.cause past the end of
the parameter, an out-of-bounds read.
Reject SCTP_PARAM_ERR_CAUSE parameters shorter than
sizeof(struct sctp_addip_param) + sizeof(struct sctp_errhdr) at the
verifier, and advance the consumer iterator with the same padding
rule as the verifier to keep the two walks in lockstep. The verifier
change guarantees a complete error header in every ERR_CAUSE
parameter the consumer can see, so the consumer's asconf_ack_len
check is dropped and it returns err_param->cause directly. The
consumer padding fix is still required because odd lengths remain
valid for SCTP_PARAM_ERR_CAUSE per RFC 5061.

The SCTP_CMD_TIMER_START handler checks timer_pending() before calling
timer_reduce(). The timer can expire and detach between these operations,
causing timer_reduce() to rearm the timer without taking the association
reference required for the newly armed timer.
The timer callback later unconditionally drops its association reference,
which can leave the association reference count unbalanced and result in
use-after-free during association teardown.
Use the return value of timer_reduce() to determine whether the timer was
actually armed. Take the association reference only when timer_reduce()
successfully starts a new timer, closing the race between checking the
timer state and rearming it.

A cached RECONF chunk may contain more than one request parameter. A
duplicate response can therefore find and process the same ADD_OUT request
again while another parameter is still outstanding, rolling back outcnt

Track outstanding request types as bits and clear each bit after its first

sctp_process_strreset_outreq(), sctp_process_strreset_addstrm_out() and
sctp_process_strreset_resp() complete a pending stream reconfiguration
request by stopping the reconf timer on the transport it was sent on:
t = asoc->strreset_chunk->transport;
if (timer_delete(&t->reconf_timer))
sctp_transport_put(t);
chunk->transport is assigned by __sctp_packet_append_chunk() when the
chunk is appended to an outbound packet, and sctp_outq_flush_ctrl() arms
the reconf timer at that same point. A request already published in
asoc->strreset_chunk but not yet transmitted has neither, so completing
it dereferences NULL.
Two ways to get there. sctp_send_asconf_del_ip() sets
asoc->src_out_of_asoc_ok without sending anything when the address being
removed is the association's last one, and sctp_outq_flush_ctrl() then
leaves every non-ASCONF control chunk queued; as only
sctp_process_asconf_ack() clears that flag, it persists. An unprivileged
process that removes such an address and then asks for a stream reset
panics the kernel from softirq. A peer needs neither ASCONF nor local
help: sctp_cmd_interpreter() uncorks the outqueue only once the whole
packet has been processed, so a reply built while walking a RECONF chunk
stays untransmitted for the rest of that walk, and one RECONF chunk
carrying [Incoming SSN Reset Request, Outgoing SSN Reset Request,
Response] -- or two RECONF chunks in one packet -- reaches the same
dereference.

sctp_rcv() resolves the transport once per packet and leaves it in
chunk->transport. The lookup reference, or the one sctp_add_backlog() takes
if the socket is owned by userspace, keeps it around until the chunk has
been processed.
An authenticated ASCONF DEL-IP can remove it in the meantime.
sctp_assoc_rm_peer() takes the transport out of the association and calls
sctp_transport_free(), which tags it dead and drops the reference the
association held. There is a window on both paths: the packet can sit on
the socket backlog, and on the direct path the lookup completes before
bh_lock_sock().
The DATA chunk in that packet puts the removed transport back into
asoc->peer.last_data_from. Once the packet is done that reference goes
away and the transport is freed by RCU, so the next delayed SACK carries
the pointer into the SACK chunk and sctp_outq_select_transport() reads the
freed transport's state.
Drop the chunk in sctp_inq_push(), next to the existing rcvr->dead check.
Both paths reach it with the association's socket lock held. The peer
retransmits it.

sctp_endpoint_bh_rcv() looks the association up only when chunk->asoc is
NULL, and caches the result in chunk->asoc and chunk->transport without
taking a reference.
A packet that matches no association is handed to the endpoint, so a peer
can bundle COOKIE ECHO, SHUTDOWN and SHUTDOWN ACK in one packet. The
COOKIE ECHO creates the association, the SHUTDOWN chunk caches it, and
with the outqueue empty the SHUTDOWN ACK reaches sctp_sf_do_9_2_final(),
so the association and its transports are freed.
The endpoint loop has no counterpart to the asoc->base.dead check in
sctp_assoc_bh_rcv(). The next chunk writes to last_time_heard in the freed
transport and is then passed to sctp_do_sm() with the freed association.
The transport is freed through RCU, so this needs the packet to come off
the socket backlog, where the loop runs in task context.
The endpoint loop cannot do the same check: it holds no reference on the
association, so reading asoc->base.dead would itself be a use-after-free.
Mark the packet for discard in the command interpreter, just before it
deletes the association. That is also before sctp_inq_free() releases the
chunk on the association receive path.
sctp_sf_do_5_2_4_dupcook() issues SCTP_CMD_DELETE_TCB for the temporary
association, while the one the packet belongs to stays alive. A restarting
peer can bundle DATA behind its COOKIE ECHO, so compare against
chunk->asoc and leave that case alone.

addip_last_asconf caches the outstanding outbound ASCONF chunk. The normal
ASCONF-ACK completion path releases the chunk and clears the pointer.
However, sctp_asconf_queue_teardown() releases the cached chunk without
clearing addip_last_asconf. During peer restart handling,
sctp_sf_do_dupcook_a() queues SCTP_CMD_PURGE_ASCONF_QUEUE, which invokes
sctp_asconf_queue_teardown() while the association remains alive and leaves
the pointer dangling.
A delayed authenticated ASCONF-ACK can then reach sctp_sf_do_asconf_ack(),
which accesses the stale chunk and passes it to sctp_process_asconf_ack(),
causing a use-after-free and a second release.
Clearing the pointer exposes a race with T4 expiry. Peer restart handling
queues the timer stop before the purge, but SCTP_CMD_TIMER_STOP uses
timer_delete(), which does not wait for a callback already running on
another CPU. Such a callback can reach sctp_sf_t4_timer_expire() after
the purge and dereference NULL.
Clear addip_last_asconf after releasing the cached chunk, and make
sctp_sf_t4_timer_expire() consume a stale T4 expiry if no outstanding
ASCONF remains.

sctp_process_asconf_param() stores a newly added peer transport in
asoc->new_transport. After all parameters in the ASCONF chunk have been
processed, sctp_sf_do_asconf() uses this pointer to send a HEARTBEAT to the
new transport.
An authenticated ASCONF from a remote SCTP peer can add a transport and
remove it again with a wildcard DEL-IP parameter in the same chunk. The
wildcard deletion preserves the transport on which the ASCONF arrived, but
removes the newly added transport through
sctp_assoc_del_nonprimary_peers(). The removal does not clear
asoc->new_transport, leaving it pointing to the removed transport.
sctp_sf_do_asconf() then creates a HEARTBEAT whose chunk->transport points
to the removed transport without holding a transport reference. During
local address replacement, src_out_of_asoc_ok keeps this HEARTBEAT on
control_chunk_list. After the transport is freed by RCU, a successful
ASCONF_ACK for the replacement address releases the queued HEARTBEAT and
sctp_outq_select_transport() reads the freed transport's state.
The issue was found during a static audit of SCTP objects. With an

sctp_auth_calculate_hmac() can fail when building the association secret
under memory pressure, but its void return silently leaves the HMAC digest
zeroed. On the receive path, sctp_sf_authenticate() compares this zeroed
digest against the peer-supplied one using crypto_memneq(), potentially
accepting an all-zero HMAC from the peer if the allocation failed. On the
send path, sctp_packet_pack() transmits a packet with a zeroed HMAC that
the peer would reject.
Improve error handling by making sctp_auth_calculate_hmac() return int:
- sctp_sf_authenticate() returns SCTP_IERROR_NOMEM instead of accepting
a zero HMAC.
- sctp_packet_pack() drops the packet on failure instead of transmitting
a zeroed HMAC.
Update the declaration in auth.h accordingly.

When cookie authentication is disabled, COOKIE_ECHO restores fixed-size
AUTH fields directly from peer-controlled cookie bytes. A forged RANDOM
length, HMAC list, or CHUNKS list can then reach association consumers
with lengths or identifiers that were never validated against the local
backing arrays.
A forged RANDOM length can cause out-of-bounds reads during key-vector
construction. A forged HMAC identifier also caused a 32-byte write past
a zero-length AUTH chunk, providing a primitive for a local privilege
escalation chain.
Validate the cookie's RANDOM, HMACS, and CHUNKS parameters at the cookie
trust boundary before copying them into the association. Reject invalid

sctp_make_heartbeat_ack() caches the destination transport in
chunk->transport without taking a reference. When src_out_of_asoc_ok is
enabled, the HEARTBEAT ACK may remain queued on control_chunk_list instead
of being transmitted immediately.
If the peer transport is removed while the chunk is still queued,
sctp_assoc_rm_peer() drops the transport and schedules it for RCU freeing,
but only clears cached transport pointers in out_chunk_list. The queued
control chunk therefore retains a dangling transport pointer.
Once an ASCONF_ACK clears the suppression and the queued control chunk is
transmitted, SCTP dereferences the stale transport pointer, leading to a
use-after-free.
Fix this by also clearing chunk->transport for queued control chunks in
control_chunk_list when removing the transport.

In sctp_process_asconf(), when sctp_make_asconf_ack() fails to allocate
the ASCONF_ACK chunk due to memory pressure, the code jumps to the
done label where asoc->peer.addip_serial is unconditionally incremented.
This leaves the peer's ASCONF (serial N) unacknowledged while the local
endpoint now expects serial N+1. When the peer retransmits serial N, it
falls into the serial < addip_serial + 1 branch ,
which attempts to look up a cached ACK for serial N. No cached ACK
exists since the allocation failed, so the retransmission is silently
discarded. The peer eventually times out and ABORTs the association.
Move the addip_serial increment inside the if (asconf_ack) block so that
the serial number is only advanced when the ASCONF_ACK is successfully
created and cached. This way, on allocation failure, the serial number
is unchanged and the peer's retransmitted ASCONF will be correctly
re-processed.

__sctp_outq_flush_rtx() moves a gap-acked chunk onto another transport's
transmitted list without updating chunk->transport:
if (chunk->tsn_gap_acked) {
list_move_tail(&chunk->transmitted_list,
&transport->transmitted);
continue;
}
The chunk then sits on a live transport's list while chunk->transport still
names a different one. If that transport is removed - sctp_assoc_rm_peer()
from an ASCONF Delete-IP - sctp_transport_free() RCU-frees it and the chunk
is left with a dangling pointer. sctp_assoc_rm_peer() scrubs
peer->transmitted and asoc->outqueue.out_chunk_list, but the chunk is on
neither.
The pointer is not followed while tsn_gap_acked is set. A SACK that
reneges on the TSN clears the flag, and the next SACK reaches
tchunk->transport->flight_size -= sctp_data_size(tchunk);
inside the freed transport. KASAN reports a slab-use-after-free read in
sctp_check_transmitted(), freed from sctp_assoc_rm_peer(). Both the
removal and the SACKs come from the association peer.
Set chunk->transport at the move. The ordinary resend path needs nothing:
it reaches its list_move_tail() only after sctp_packet_append_chunk()
returned SCTP_XMIT_OK, and __sctp_packet_append_chunk() has rebound the
chunk by then.

The Adaptation Layer Indication parameter contains a fixed 32-bit
Adaptation Code Point after its parameter header. However,
sctp_verify_param() accepts a header-only parameter because the generic
parameter walker only requires the header to be present.
sctp_process_param() then reads adaptation_ind beyond the declared
parameter. When the malformed parameter is last in an INIT, the read
starts at the receive skb tail, and the value is copied into the state
cookie returned in the INIT ACK. This may disclose four receive-buffer
tail bytes.
Require the declared parameter length to match the fixed structure size

code still sets chunk->auth = 1 and continues, leaving the
COOKIE-ECHO to be processed without a valid auth_chunk for
deferred verification.
Discard the AUTH chunk early via pdiscard when skb_clone() fails,
so that the receive loop can continue processing remaining chunks
in the inqueue instead of stalling the entire packet.

sctp_assoc_add_peer() increments the association's 16-bit transport_count
for every new unique peer. Adding the 65,536th transport wraps the count to
zero.
SCTP sock_diag uses transport_count to reserve the INET_DIAG_PEERS payload,
then copies one sockaddr_storage for every entry in transport_addr_list.
After the wrap, a diagnostic dump reserves an empty payload and writes
8 MiB of peer addresses past the skb tail.
Reject a new unique peer when transport_count has reached U16_MAX. Perform
the check after the existing-peer lookup so a duplicate address continues
to return its existing transport at the limit.

sctp_unpack_cookie() skips cookie expiration checks whenever an
association already exists. This is broader than the exception in
RFC 9260 Section 5.2.4.
For an existing association, Section 5.2.4 permits an expired State
Cookie only when both Verification Tags in the cookie match the current
association. Otherwise, the packet SHOULD be discarded and a Stale
Cookie ERROR MUST be sent.
The broad check lets an expired Action A restart cookie reach
sctp_sf_do_dupcook_a(). In a runtime test with the default 60 second
cookie lifetime, replaying such a cookie after 65 seconds returned a
COOKIE-ACK and restarted the association.
Check cookie expiration unless both Verification Tags match. This
preserves the Action D exception for a lost COOKIE ACK while rejecting
expired cookies in all other cases.

sctp_process_asconf() caches the transport the ASCONF chunk is processed
against in asconf->transport (== chunk->transport, set once in sctp_rcv()).
For an ASCONF located through its Address Parameter by
__sctp_rcv_asconf_lookup(), that cached transport corresponds to the
Address Parameter, which need not be the packet's source address.
sctp_process_asconf_param() rejects a DEL-IP for the packet source address
(ADDIP D8, SCTP_ERROR_DEL_SRC_IP), but nothing protects asconf->transport.
A single ASCONF can therefore carry, in order:
[Address Parameter L] [DEL-IP L] [DEL-IP 0.0.0.0]
where L differs from the source. The DEL-IP for L passes the D8 check and
calls sctp_assoc_rm_peer() on the transport that asconf->transport still
points at, freeing it (RCU-deferred). The following wildcard DEL-IP then
reuses the now-dangling asconf->transport in sctp_assoc_set_primary() and
sctp_assoc_del_nonprimary_peers(): set_primary() dereferences the freed
transport (->ipaddr, ->state) and plants the dangling pointer into
asoc->peer.primary_path / active_path, and del_nonprimary_peers(), keeping
only the pointer that is no longer on the list, removes every real
transport, leaving the association with a transport_count of 0 and
primary_path/active_path pointing at freed memory.
Reject a DEL-IP that targets the transport the ASCONF is being processed
against, mirroring the existing source-address guard, so the wildcard
branch can never reuse a freed transport.

sctp_auth_chunk_verify() returns true unconditionally when
chunk->auth_chunk is NULL, silently skipping authentication.
This is incorrect when:
1. skb_clone() failed in the BH receive path, leaving auth_chunk
NULL. In sctp_endpoint_bh_rcv() asoc is NULL for new
connections, so the early sctp_auth_recv_cid() check cannot
catch this.
2. No AUTH chunk precedes COOKIE-ECHO, so skb_clone() is never
called and auth_chunk remains NULL.
Fix by checking sctp_auth_recv_cid() when auth_chunk is NULL:
if authentication is required, return false to drop the chunk;
otherwise continue normally.

proc_sctp_do_udp_port() starts per-net SCTP UDP tunneling sockets when
net.sctp.udp_port is set, and stops/restarts them when the sysctl value
changes. The netns exit path does not stop these sockets, so a namespace
can be torn down while its SCTP UDP tunnel sockets are still installed.
Close the UDP tunnel sockets from sctp_ctrlsock_exit() after unregistering
the per-net sysctl table. This prevents new sysctl writes from racing in
while the sockets are being released, and closes the sockets before the
control socket is destroyed.

proc_sctp_do_auth() updates the SCTP control socket after changing
net.sctp.auth_enable. The handler gets the per-net SCTP state from
ctl->data, so an already opened sysctl file can still target a network
namespace while that namespace is being torn down.
SCTP previously registered its per-net sysctls from sctp_defaults_init(),
while the control socket is created later from sctp_ctrlsock_init(). This
exposed a window during initialization where auth_enable was writable
before net->sctp.ctl_sock existed, and a teardown window where auth_enable
stayed writable after inet_ctl_sock_destroy() had released the control
socket.
Move the per-net SCTP sysctl registration into sctp_ctrlsock_init() after
sctp_ctl_sock_init() succeeds, and unregister the sysctl table before
destroying the control socket in sctp_ctrlsock_exit(). If sysctl
registration fails after the control socket was created, destroy the
control socket in the same init path.
Make sctp_sysctl_net_unregister() tolerate a missing header and clear the
saved pointer so init-error and exit paths can safely share the unregister
helper.

When processing a RESET_IN_REQUEST from a peer,
sctp_process_strreset_inreq() derives the stream count from the
parameter length but does not check whether the resulting
RESET_OUT_REQUEST would exceed SCTP_MAX_CHUNK_LEN.
The OUT request header (sctp_strreset_outreq, 16 bytes) is 8 bytes
larger than the IN request header (sctp_strreset_inreq, 8 bytes).
Generally, the IP payload is bounded to 65535 bytes, so the stream
list cannot be large enough to trigger the overflow. However, on
interfaces with MTU > 65535 (e.g., loopback with IPv6 jumbograms), a
stream list that fits within the incoming IN parameter can cause a
__u16 overflow in sctp_make_strreset_req() when computing the OUT
request size, leading to an undersized skb allocation and a kernel
BUG:
net/core/skbuff.c:207 skb_panic
net/core/skbuff.c:2625 skb_put
net/sctp/sm_make_chunk.c:1535 sctp_addto_chunk
net/sctp/sm_make_chunk.c:3695 sctp_make_strreset_req
net/sctp/stream.c:655 sctp_process_strreset_inreq
The local setsockopt path validates the generated reset request size.
However, for an incoming-only reset, it accounts for the smaller IN
request even though the peer must generate an OUT request with the same
stream list. Such a request cannot be completed successfully by the
peer.
Reject peer IN requests whose corresponding OUT request would exceed
SCTP_MAX_CHUNK_LEN. Also tighten the local check so it does not send an
IN request that would require an oversized OUT request from the peer.

sctp_auth_ep_add_chunkid() uses SCTP_NUM_CHUNK_TYPES (20) as the
capacity limit for ep->auth_chunk_list, allowing it to hold up to
20 chunk entries (param_hdr.length up to 24). However, the copy
destination asoc->c.auth_chunks in struct sctp_cookie is only
SCTP_AUTH_MAX_CHUNKS (16) entries (20 bytes). When more than 16
chunks are added, sctp_association_init() memcpy overflows the
destination by up to 4 bytes.
Fix by using SCTP_AUTH_MAX_CHUNKS as the capacity limit, matching
the destination capacity.

When an ERROR chunk with a STALE_COOKIE cause is received in the
COOKIE_ECHOED state, sctp_sf_do_5_2_6_stale() reads the 4-byte Measure
of Staleness that follows the cause header:
err = (struct sctp_errhdr *)(chunk->skb->data);
stale = ntohl(*(__be32 *)((u8 *)err + sizeof(*err)));
err is the first cause in the chunk, not the STALE_COOKIE cause that
caused the dispatch, and nothing guarantees the staleness field is
present. sctp_walk_errors() only requires a cause to be as long as the
4-byte header, so for a STALE_COOKIE cause of length 4 the read runs
past the cause, and for a minimal ERROR chunk past skb->tail. The value
is echoed to the peer in the Cookie Preservative of the reply INIT,
leaking uninitialized memory.
sctp_sf_cookie_echoed_err() already walks to the STALE_COOKIE cause, so
check its length there and pass it to sctp_sf_do_5_2_6_stale(), which
reads that cause instead of the first one. A STALE_COOKIE cause too
short to hold the staleness field is discarded.
The read is reachable by any peer that can drive an association into
COOKIE_ECHOED, including an unprivileged process using a raw SCTP socket
in a user and network namespace.

sctp_free_addr_wq() previously removed addr_wq_timer using timer_delete()
while holding addr_wq_lock. However, timer_delete() does not guarantee that
a currently running timer handler has completed.
This allows a race with sctp_addr_wq_timeout_handler(), where the handler
may still run after addr_waitq has been freed, acquire addr_wq_lock, and
access freed memory, leading to a use-after-free.
Fix this by calling timer_shutdown_sync() before taking addr_wq_lock. This
guarantees that any in-flight timer handler has finished and prevents the
timer from being re-armed during teardown, making subsequent cleanup safe.
