Pull PCI updates from Bjorn Helgaas:
"Enumeration:
- Set supported_speeds in set_pcie_port_type() so sparc64 and
powerpc, which call it via of_create_pci_dev() instead of the usual
pci_setup_device(), correctly set the supported PCIe link speeds
(Stian Halseth)
- When pcie_set_mps() changes MPS, update the value in the saved
state so a subsequent restore doesn't restore an invalid value
(Niklas Cassel)
- Skip Target Speed quirk on clamped ports with no link (Maciej W.
Rozycki)
Driver binding:
- Assume control of portdrv-related features only when portdrv is
enabled, since we can't use them without portdrv (Kuppuswamy
Sathyanarayanan)
- Centralize feature ownership checking so code only needs to check
'host->native_X' and doesn't need to also check 'pcie_ports_native'
(Kuppuswamy Sathyanarayanan)
Error handling:
- Fix leaks when ACPI APEI/GHES error events overflow the kfifo or
mention a device that no longer exists (Priyank Rathod)
- Fix aer_process_err_devices() leak when a device is recorded as an
error source purely by being mentioned in the Root Port Error
Source and the device is inaccessible or logged only masked errors
(Priyank Rathod)
ASPM:
- Disable ASPM when drivers request that, even if the OS doesn't own
ASPM; otherwise drivers do it on their own, which is worse (Ilpo
Järvinen)
Power management:
- Align hibernate poweroff flow with suspend flow for bridges so they
can be powered down at hibernate as they are for suspend (Mario
Limonciello)
- Restore BARs after powering up during enumeration to fix a
regression on devices that don't preserve state in D3hot (Keng-Yu
Lin)
- Avoid D3 on PLX PEX 8532/8533/8548 downstream ports, where putting
them in D3hot takes down the whole switch (Imre Kaloz)
Power control:
- Add GPIO driver for Toshiba TC9563 embedded GPIO controller (Alex
Elder)
- Add DT documentation and pwrctrl driver support for TC9563 embedded
GPIO controller (Lorenzo Bianconi)
- Switch the tc9563 per-port reset to use the GPIO descriptor API
instead of direct regmap accesses (Lorenzo Bianconi)
- Only destroy devices created by pwrctrl core, so that when removing
a PCIe controller driver that uses pwrctrl, we don't remove devices
populated by another mechanism (Shawn Lin)
- Power off child devices on power-on failure (Lorenzo Bianconi)
PCIe native device hotplug:
- Make the 'pciehp_poll_mode' parameter read-only to prevent changes
via sysfs, which can cause errors when unbinding (Runyu Xiao)
Virtualization:
- Read SR-IOV VF Revision ID and Subsystem ID from VF instead of
assuming they're the same as VF 0; they may differ (Logan Odell)
- Add ACS quirk for Pericom PI7C9X2G304 switches (Hans de Goede)
Peer-to-peer DMA:
- Add Zhaoxin KX-6000, KH-40000, KX-6000G, KX-7000, and KH-50000 host
bridges to allowlist (LeoLiu-oc)
- Add Alibaba T-HEAD Yitian 710 host bridge to allowlist (Feng Tang)
- Add Intel Haswell client host bridge to allowlist (Scott Lee)
- Intel Xeon E3/E5/E7 0x6f00 host bridge to allowlist (kai zhang)
- Fix handling of errors in pci_p2pdma_add_resource() to avoid (a)
unmapping a BAR if registering another fails and (b) use after free
of p2p_pgmap (Leon Romanovsky)
- Wait for RCU readers before freeing state to avoid use-after-free
of pdev->p2pdma (Leon Romanovsky)
- Restrict pci_p2pmem_find_many() to providers backed by a pool (Leon
Romanovsky)
- Safely terminate ACS redirect lists to avoid out-of-bounds access
to the buffer (Leon Romanovsky)
- Silence 'Host bridge not in P2PDMA whitelist' warnings unless
caller, e.g., pci_p2pmem_find_many(), requests 'verbose' (Leon
Romanovsky)
Sysfs:
- Return -ENODEV or -EIO sysfs 'label' or 'acpi_index' attributes
when Device Name _DSM fails, not -1, which is interpreted as -EPERM
(Krzysztof Wilczyński)
- Return valid sysfs 'acpi_index' attribute even if the Device Name
_DSM returned an invalid 'label' (Krzysztof Wilczyński)
- Expose sysfs 'acpi_index' and 'label' based on whether the Device
Name _DSM returns valid data, not merely whether the _DSM is
implemented (Krzysztof Wilczyński)
- Avoid out-of-bounds reads of the label returned by the Device Name
_DSM, which is in UTF-16 characters, not bytes (Krzysztof
Wilczyński)
- Reject unaligned resource I/O port accesses, which can oops on
arm64 (Deepanshu Kartikey)
Endpoint framework:
- Pass the correct physical and virtual endpoint function numbers
when setting translation of inbound memory windows (Koichiro Den)
- Make embedded doorbell IRQ non-shared, since currently only the
first EPF can allocate doorbells (Koichiro Den)
- MSI doorbells currently target the first EPF attached to an EPC;
let other EPFs try the embedded doorbell instead of failing when
they can't use the MSI doorbell (Koichiro Den)
- Serialize scan of vNTB virtual PCI bus with other PCI topology
changes (Koichiro Den)
- Manage vNTB lifetimes to avoid leaking virtual devices and buses
and allow removal (Koichiro Den)
- Track vNTB link state from both sides so both see the same
effective link state (Koichiro Den)
- Configure vNTB MSI-X when supported to avoid IOMMU faults and
failure to deliver doorbell interrupts on RC (Koichiro Den)
APM X-Gene PCIe controller driver:

and released if errors happen during probe (Yuho Choi)
ASPEED PCIe controller driver:
- Fix clk and PHY leaks in aspeed_pcie_port_init() error paths (Liu

Broadcom iProc PCIe controller driver:
- Expose devm_pci_alloc_host_bridge_release() so drivers can share a
devm release function even if they don't need the device tree
parsing done by devm_pci_alloc_host_bridge() (Bjorn Helgaas)
- Request only the memory window from BCMA Enumeration ROM and warn
if it doesn't match the one in DT, which fixes an iproc-bcma probe
failure (Semih Baskan)
Broadcom STB PCIe controller driver:
- Replace bool properties for each SoC configuration with a u32
bitvector and a BFLAG() helper (Jim Quinlan)
- Use a similar BQUIRK() helper to test various SoC quirks (Jim
Quinlan)
Cadence PCIe controller driver:
- Remove device links to PHY, which are redundant because the PHY
core itself adds them (Vladimir Oltean)
- Return error (not success) from cdns_plat_pcie_probe() if
pm_runtime_get_sync() or cdns_pcie_ep_setup() failed (Vladimir
Oltean)
- Correct the driver data pointer usage; previously .probe() stored
'struct cdns_plat_pcie *', but .shutdown() used the pointer as
'struct cdns_pcie *', resulting in accessing garbage (Linmao Li)
ESWIN PCIe controller driver:
- Publish the platform driver MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE so the driver can
be autoloaded when built as a module (Pengpeng Hou)

-EPROBE_DEFER messages (Alexander Stein)
- Avoid dereferencing NULL clock names when 'clocks' includes more
phandles than 'clock-names' has names (Rudi Heitbaum)

controllers during suspend can enter L2 so endpoints can get
PME_Turn_Off notifications before power loss (Richard Zhu)

- Enable PROBE_PREFER_ASYNCHRONOUS to reduce probe time of the four
controllers on LX2160A (Vincent Jardin)

ntb_hw_epf tries MSI-X first and falls back to MSI. It reports the
result in COMMAND_CONFIGURE_DOORBELL. pci-epf-vntb ignores MSIX_ENABLE,
configures only MSI, and always raises peer interrupts with PCI_IRQ_MSI.
When MSI-X is selected, the host does not program MSI, so raising it can
issue a write to an invalid address. This was observed as IOMMU faults
on the RC, with no doorbell interrupts delivered.
Configure MSI-X when supported and use the selected type for peer
doorbells and link events. Allocate the MSI-X Table and PBA in the config
BAR and configure db_count entries. Use this EPF-owned layout even if the
EPC has fixed, hardware-owned Table/PBA regions, as pci-epf-test and
nvmet-pci-epf already do.

The control-region link status is currently updated only by
COMMAND_LINK_UP and COMMAND_LINK_DOWN from the HOST. The virtual
NTB link callbacks are empty. Consequently, the HOST can see the link as
up before the VHOST has enabled it, and ntb_link_disable() on the VHOST
leaves LINK_STATUS_UP set without notifying either NTB client.
ntb_netdev can hide this device-level state bug because ntb_transport uses
a separate per-QP LINK_DOWN_FLAG message. Use ntb_tool to observe the
device link state directly:
After bringing both sides up, start one waiter on each side:
HOST# echo N > /sys/kernel/debug/ntb_tool/<H-device>/peer0/link_event
VHOST# echo N > /sys/kernel/debug/ntb_tool/<V-device>/peer0/link_event
While both waiters are blocked, disable the link on the VHOST:
VHOST# echo N > /sys/kernel/debug/ntb_tool/<V-device>/link
Without this patch, the link-disable command succeeds, but peer0/link
remains Y on both sides and neither waiter returns.
Track HOST and VHOST enablement separately and report the effective link
as up only when both sides have enabled it, as pci-epf-ntb does for its
two physical hosts. Both NTB clients observe this effective state, so
notify both sides only when it changes, including the side whose request
completes the transition. Serialize the two paths because HOST commands
run from delayed work while the VHOST callbacks may run concurrently.
With this patch, peer0/link changes to N on both sides and both waiters
return.

The virtual PCI driver registers an ntb_dev but has no remove callback.
Unbinding the endpoint function can therefore free BARs while the NTB
device and its client still use them. It also leaves the virtual PCI
devices and root bus allocated.
Allocate an ntb_dev for each virtual PCI probe and unregister it from the
matching remove callback. Start command processing only after registration.
Publish the device for doorbell IRQs at the same point. During remove, stop
the command work and drain IRQ handlers before unregistering the device.
Retain the root bus returned by pci_scan_bus() so it can be removed on
unbind. Unregister the virtual PCI driver before releasing endpoint
resources. Stop and remove the root bus under the PCI rescan/remove lock,
then release its host bridge.

This is another run of the Coccinelle script for converting kmalloc()
family of allocations to kmalloc_obj() via the existing rules in
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci
This catches both the set of kmalloc() uses added since the first
kmalloc_obj() conversions in v7.0 and adds a large group missed in the
first pass due to Coccinelle not interacting well with the cleanup.h
scoped_...() family of macros[1]. I worked around this with spatch's
"--macro-file" argument to a file with all the scoped_...() macros mapped
to Coccinelle's YACFE_ITERATOR[2] as that was the closest viable control
flow indicator I could find.
Build tested allmodconfig on x86, arm64, arm, loongarch, mips, powerpc,

pci_epf_alloc_doorbell() rejects every EPF that is not the first one
attached to the EPC because the MSI-backed path can populate doorbell
messages only for that EPF. This also prevents non-first EPFs from using
the embedded doorbell backend.
Keep the MSI-backed path limited to the first attached EPF. Let
non-first EPFs skip it and try the embedded doorbell directly. The
embedded IRQ is exclusive, so a second embedded user fails to request
the IRQ instead of receiving another EPF's notifications.

Embedded doorbells may use the same virq for several messages. This does
not mean the IRQ itself should be shared. Consumers only need to request
each distinct virq once, as vNTB and pci-epf-test already do.
IRQF_SHARED would let different EPFs register handlers for the same IRQ.
The embedded doorbell interface cannot tell which EPF a write targets,
so every handler would handle it.
Only the first EPF can allocate doorbells today, so this cannot happen
yet. Drop IRQF_SHARED before extending the embedded backend to non-first
EPFs. A second request for the same IRQ will then fail with -EBUSY
instead of attaching another handler.

vntb_epf_mw_set_trans() programs the memory-window BAR through
pci_epc_set_bar() with hardcoded function numbers (0, 0), so the BAR
lands on the wrong function whenever the vNTB EPF is bound to anything
but PF0. The other BAR programming sites in the vNTB driver already pass
the EPF's own numbers.
Pass the EPF's own func_no/vfunc_no here as well.

Implement .db_vector_count() and .db_vector_mask() so NTB core/clients can
map doorbell events to per-vector work and avoid the thundering-herd
behavior.
pci-epf-vntb reserves two slots in db_count: slot 0 for link events and
slot 1 which is historically unused. Therefore the number of doorbell
vectors is (db_count - 2).
Report vectors as 0..N-1 and return BIT_ULL(db_vector) for the
corresponding doorbell bit. Build db_valid_mask from a validated vector
count so out-of-range db_count values cannot create invalid shifts.

In pci-epf-vntb, db_count represents the total number of doorbell slots
exposed to the peer, including:
- slot #0 reserved for link events, and
- slot #1 historically unused (kept for compatibility).
Only the remaining slots correspond to actual doorbell bits. The current
db_valid_mask() exposes all slots as valid doorbells.
Limit db_valid_mask() to the real doorbell bits by returning
BIT_ULL(db_count - 2) - 1, and guard against db_count < 2.

db_count controls how many doorbell slots are allocated and exposed. It is
also used by the doorbell mask helpers. After an EPC has been attached,
changing it from configfs can leave runtime paths using a different count
than the one used to set up the doorbell resources.
Reject db_count writes after EPC attach, and reject values outside
MIN_DB_COUNT..MAX_DB_COUNT before attach. Now that MIN_DB_COUNT documents
the usable doorbell floor, use it in the store path too.
While at it, apply the same after-attach guard to the other vNTB configfs
knobs. BAR choices, spad_count, memory-window counts and sizes, and the
virtual PCI IDs are also consumed during bind, so changing them later at
runtime is meaningless and unsafe.
Return -EOPNOTSUPP for after-attach writes. The value itself may be valid,
but changing it in that state is not supported.

pci-epf-vntb reserves slot 0 for link events and keeps slot 1 unused for
legacy layout compatibility. A db_count smaller than MIN_DB_COUNT leaves
no usable doorbell slot after those reservations.
Reject such configurations when configuring interrupts.
While at it, move MAX_DB_COUNT next to MIN_DB_COUNT. They are used as a
pair in the range check, and keeping them together makes the valid doorbell
range easier to read.

ntb_db_event() expects the vector number to be relative to the first
doorbell vector starting at 0.
pci-epf-vntb reserves vector 0 for link events and uses higher vector
indices for doorbells. By passing the raw slot index to ntb_db_event(),
it effectively assumes that doorbell 0 maps to vector 1.
However, because the host uses a legacy slot layout and writes doorbell
0 into the third slot, doorbell 0 ultimately appears as vector 2 from
the NTB core perspective.
Adjust pci-epf-vntb to:
- skip the unused second slot, and
- report doorbells as 0-based vectors (DB#0 -> vector 0).
This change does not introduce a behavioral difference until
.db_vector_count()/.db_vector_mask() are implemented, because without
those callbacks NTB clients effectively ignore the vector number.

The NTB .peer_db_set() callback may be invoked from atomic context.
pci-epf-vntb currently calls pci_epc_raise_irq() directly, but
pci_epc_raise_irq() may sleep (it takes epc->lock).
Avoid sleeping in atomic context by coalescing doorbell bits into an
atomic64 pending mask and raising MSIs from a work item. Limit the
amount of work per run to avoid monopolizing the workqueue under a
doorbell storm.
Clear stale pending bits before enabling the work item and after disabling
it during cleanup. Also mask requested doorbells against the currently
valid doorbell mask before queueing work, and iterate the pending u64 with
__ffs64() so high doorbell bits are handled correctly.

vntb_epf_peer_db_set() raises an MSI interrupt to notify the RC side of
a doorbell event. pci_epc_raise_irq(..., PCI_IRQ_MSI, interrupt_num)
takes a 1-based MSI interrupt number.
The ntb_hw_epf driver reserves MSI #1 for link events, so doorbells
would naturally start at MSI #2 (doorbell bit 0 -> MSI #2). However,
pci-epf-vntb has historically applied an extra offset and mapped doorbell
bit 0 to MSI #3. This matches the legacy behavior of ntb_hw_epf and has
been preserved since commit e35f56bb0330 ("PCI: endpoint: Support NTB
transfer between RC and EP").
This offset has not surfaced as a functional issue because:
- ntb_hw_epf typically allocates enough MSI vectors, so the off-by-one
still hits a valid MSI vector, and
- ntb_hw_epf does not implement .db_vector_count()/.db_vector_mask(), so
client drivers such as ntb_transport effectively ignore the vector
number and schedule all QPs.
Correcting the MSI number would break interoperability with peers
running older kernels.
Document the legacy offset to avoid confusion when enabling
per-db-vector handling.

Some endpoint platforms cannot use platform MSI / GIC ITS to implement
EP-side doorbells. In those cases, EPF drivers cannot provide an
interrupt-driven doorbell and often fall back to polling.
Add an "embedded" doorbell backend that uses a controller-integrated
doorbell target (e.g. DesignWare integrated eDMA interrupt-emulation
doorbell).
The backend locates the doorbell register and a corresponding Linux IRQ
via the EPC aux-resource API. If the doorbell register is already
exposed via a fixed BAR mapping, provide BAR+offset. Otherwise provide
the DMA address returned by dma_map_resource() (which may be an IOVA
when an IOMMU is enabled) so EPF drivers can map it into BAR space.
When MSI doorbell allocation fails with -ENODEV,
pci_epf_alloc_doorbell() falls back to this embedded backend.

Endpoint controller drivers may integrate auxiliary blocks (e.g. DMA

be exposed to a remote peer. Endpoint function drivers need a generic

When the BAR subrange mapping test on DWC-based platforms fails due to
insufficient free inbound iATU regions, pci_epf_test_bar_subrange_setup()
returns an error (-ENOSPC) but does not restore the original BAR mapping.
This causes subsequent test runs to become confusing, since the failure may
leave room for the next subrange mapping test to pass.
Fix this by restoring the original BAR mapping when preparation of the
subrange mapping fails, so that no side effect remains regardless of the
test success or failure.

This BAR type will only be used to describe a BAR that the EPC driver

pci_epf_mhi_edma_read() and pci_epf_mhi_edma_write() start DMA
operations and wait for completion with a timeout.
On successful completion, they previously returned the remaining
timeout, which callers may treat as an error. In particular,
mhi_ep_ring_add_element(), which calls pci_epf_mhi_edma_write() via
mhi_cntrl->write_sync(), interprets any non-zero return value as
failure.
Return 0 on success instead of the remaining timeout to prevent
mhi_ep_ring_add_element() from treating successful completion as an
error.

'struct configfs_item_operations' and 'configfs_group_operations' are not

Constifying these structures moves some data to a read-only section, so
increases overall security, especially when the structure holds some

The doorbell test requires the EPC driver to support dynamic inbound
mapping so the host can map the doorbell target address into a BAR
aperture.
Expose epc_features->dynamic_inbound_mapping via a new
CAP_DYNAMIC_INBOUND_MAPPING bit in the pci-epf-test capability register,
so the host-side pci_endpoint_test driver can detect missing support and
return -EOPNOTSUPP instead of running the test fruitlessly.

pci_epf_alloc_doorbell() stores the allocated doorbell message array in
epf->db_msg/epf->num_db before requesting MSI vectors. If MSI allocation
fails, the array is freed but the EPF state may still point to freed
memory.
Clear epf->db_msg and epf->num_db on the MSI allocation failure path so
that later cleanup cannot double-free the array and callers can retry
allocation.
Also return -EBUSY when doorbells have already been allocated to prevent
leaking or overwriting an existing allocation.

pci_epf_test_doorbell_cleanup() unconditionally calls free_irq() for the
doorbell virq, which can trigger "Trying to free already-free IRQ"
warnings when the IRQ was never requested or when request_threaded_irq()

only after a successful request, so that free_irq() is not called for

epf_ntb_db_bar_init_msi_doorbell() requests ntb->db_count doorbell IRQs
and then performs additional MSI doorbell setup that may still fail.
The error path unwinds the requested IRQs, but it uses a loop variable
that is reused later in the function. When a later step fails, the
unwind can run with an unexpected index value and leave some IRQs
requested.
Track the number of successfully requested IRQs separately and use that
counter for the unwind so all previously requested IRQs are freed on
failure.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.
