In preparation for adding ACPI _LPI support to the intel_idle driver,
move acpi_processor_extract_lpi_info() along with some static functions
used by it to the acpi_processor.c file containing the non-modular part
of the ACPI processor driver, so it can be called by external non-modular
code like intel_idle.
However, export it to modules in the ACPI_PROCESSOR_IDLE import
namespace so that the modular part of the ACPI processor driver
can still invoke it.

Rewrite flatten_lpi_states() to make it easier to follow:
* Rename its flat_state_cnt, curr_level and prev_level parameters to
state_count, curr, and prev, respectively, so their names match the
names of analogous variables in acpi_processor_get_lpi_info().
* Eliminate a redundant local variable state_count.
* Move definitions of local variables to the code blocks in which
they are used.
* Reduce the indentation level in the inner loop.
* Use more meaningful names for local variables.
* Move two statements that belong in acpi_processor_get_lpi_info()
from flatten_lpi_states() to that function.
* Use acpi_handle_info() for printing a message when the count of
flattened states gets too large and drop the message requesting
ACPI_PROCESSOR_MAX_POWER to be adjusted which is pointless.
* Add a comment explaining what happens in that function.

a couple of things, so expand them by adding a buffer size check

When function tracing or Kprobes is enabled, entering an ACPI Low
Power Idle (LPI) state triggers the following RCU splat:
RCU not on for: acpi_idle_lpi_enter+0x4/0xd8
WARNING: CPU: 8 PID: 0 at include/linux/trace_recursion.h:162 function_trace_call+0x1e8/0x228
The acpi_idle_lpi_enter() function is invoked within the cpuidle
path after RCU has already been disabled for the current local CPU.
Consequently, ftrace's function_trace_call() expects RCU to be
actively watching before recording trace data, emitting a warning
if it is not.
Fix this by annotating acpi_idle_lpi_enter(), the generic __weak
stub, and the RISC-V implementation of acpi_processor_ffh_lpi_enter()
with __cpuidle. This moves these functions into the '.cpuidle.text'
section, implicitly disabling ftrace instrumentation (notrace) along
this sensitive path and preventing trace-induced RCU warnings during
idle entry.

acpi_processor_register_idle_driver()
Commit 7a8c994cbb2d ("ACPI: processor: idle: Optimize ACPI idle
driver registration") moved the ACPI idle driver registration to
acpi_processor_driver_init(), but it didn't check whether a cpuidle
driver was already registered.
For example, on Intel platforms, if the intel_idle driver is already
loaded, the code would still evaluate the _CST object in the ACPI
table and attempt to register the acpi_idle driver. This registration
would fail with -EBUSY due to the existing check in cpuidle_register_driver.
Add a check at the beginning of acpi_processor_register_idle_driver()
to avoid unnecessary _CST evaluate and potential registration failures.

When a power notification event occurs, existing ACPI idle states may
become obsolete. The current implementation only performs a partial
update, leaving critical cpuidle parameters, like target_residency_ns
and exit_latency_ns, stale. Furthermore, per-CPU cpuidle_device data,
including last_residency_ns, states_usage, and the disable flag, are not
properly synchronized. Using these stale values leads to incorrect power
management decisions.
To ensure all parameters are correctly synchronized, modify the
notification handling logic:
1. Unregister all cpuidle_device instances to ensure a clean slate.
2. Unregister and re-register the ACPI idle driver. This forces the
framework to re-evaluate global state parameters and ensures the
driver state matches the new hardware power profile.
3. Re-initialize power information and re-register cpuidle_device for
all possible CPUs to restore functional idle management.
This complete reset ensures that the cpuidle framework and the underlying
ACPI states are perfectly synchronized after a power state change.

The 'power_setup_done' flag is a key indicator used across the ACPI
processor driver to determine if cpuidle are properly configured and
available for a given CPU.
Currently, this flag is set during the early stages of initialization.
However, if the subsequent registration of the cpuidle driver in
acpi_processor_register_idle_driver() or the per-CPU device registration
in acpi_processor_power_init() fails, this flag remains set. This may
lead to some issues where other functions in ACPI idle driver use these
flags.
Fix this by explicitly resetting this flag to 0 in these error paths.

The function acpi_processor_cstate_first_run_checks() is currently called

The inner loop in flatten_lpi_states() that combines composite LPI
states can increment flat_state_cnt multiple times within the loop.
The condition that guards this (checks bounds against ACPI_PROCESSOR
_MAX_POWER) occurs at the top of the outer loop. flat_state_cnt might
exceed ACPI_PROCESSOR_MAX_POWER if it is incremented multiple times
within the inner loop between outer loop iterations.
Add a bounds check after the increment inside the inner loop so that
it breaks out when flat_state_cnt reaches ACPI_PROCESSOR_MAX_POWER.
The existing check in the outer loop will then handle the warning.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

"TYPE *".

Currently, the ACPI idle driver is registered from within a CPU
hotplug callback. Although this didn't cause any functional issues,
this is questionable and confusing. And it is better to register
the cpuidle driver when all of the CPUs have been brought up.
So add a new function to initialize acpi_idle_driver based on the
power management information of an available CPU and register cpuidle
driver in acpi_processor_driver_init().
This commit has four changes under the commit 7a8c994cbb2d (ACPI:

It also allows direct references to acpi_idle_driver in
acpi_processor_setup_cpuidle_cx() to be avoided.
No intentional functional impact.

Move the cpuidle driver check from __acpi_processor_start() to
acpi_processor_power_init() which allows variable acpi_idle_driver to
become static.

Notice that acpi_processor_power_init() and acpi_processor_power_exit()
don't need to return any values because their callers don't check them
anyway, so redefine those functions as void.
While at it, rearrange the code in acpi_processor_power_init() to
reduce the indentation level, get rid of a redundant local variable
in that function, and rephrase a code comment in it.
No intentional functional impact.

Instead of using static variable flat_state_cnt to pass data between
functions involved in the _LPI information processing, pass the current
number of "flattened" idle states to flatten_lpi_states() and make it
return the updated number of those states. At the same time, use a
local variable called state_count to store the number of "flattened"
idle states found so far in acpi_processor_get_lpi_info().

Add a new module import namespace called ACPI_PROCESSOR_IDLE for
functions exported from the non-modular part of the ACPI processor
driver to the modular part of it.
Export acpi_processor_claim_cst_control() and acpi_processor_evaluate_cst()
in that namespace to hide them from unrelated modules.
They are also used by the intel_idle driver, but it is non-modular,
so it can call them regardless of the way the symbols are exported.

Currently, the ACPI idle driver is registered from within a CPU
hotplug callback. Although this didn't cause any functional issues,
this is questionable and confusing. And it is better to register
the cpuidle driver when all of the CPUs have been brought up.
So add a new function to initialize acpi_idle_driver based on the
power management information of an available CPU and register cpuidle
driver in acpi_processor_driver_init().

Make acpi_processor_driver_init() call arch_cpu_rescan_dead_smt_siblings(),
via a new wrapper function called acpi_idle_rescan_dead_smt_siblings(),
after successfully initializing the driver, to allow the "dead" SMT
siblings to go into deep idle states, which is necessary for the
processor to be able to reach deep package C-states (like PC10) going
forward, so that power can be reduced sufficiently in suspend-to-idle,
among other things.
However, do it only if the ACPI idle driver is the current cpuidle
driver (otherwise it is assumed that another cpuidle driver will take
care of this) and avoid doing it on architectures other than x86.

pr->power.count stands for the number of valid processor cstates. And it
is correctly set with the return value of acpi_processor_power_verify(),
in acpi_processor_get_cstate_info().
Remove the redundant logic that unnecessarily overrides pr->power.count
value.

acpi_processor_get_power_info_default() ensures that the processor's
ACPI_STATE_C1 state is always valid. Consequently, the pr->flags.power
should be set unconditionally after this.
