qaic_perf_stats_bo_ioctl() validates each BO by checking bo->sliced and
bo->dbc before returning its perf stats. These fields are changed by the
detach paths while holding bo->lock, but the perf stats ioctl reads them
without that lock.
A concurrent detach can clear bo->dbc and mark the BO unsliced while the
perf stats ioctl is validating the BO. Take bo->lock while checking the
BO state and copying the per-BO stats into the temporary result buffer.

Sahara removal cancels fw_work and dump_work, but leaves read_data_work
pending or running. The latter accesses the firmware and the device-managed
context and transfer buffer, which are released during removal.
Cancel read_data_work after fw_work, which can schedule it, and before
releasing the firmware. The MHI core suspends and resets the channels
before invoking the driver's remove callback.
This issue was identified during our ongoing static-analysis research
while reviewing kernel code. The same omission was also reported by the
Sashiko bot while reviewing the Sahara relocation series.

create_sgt() receives the BO size as a u64 but stores the number of
pages in an int. qaic_create_bo_ioctl() page-aligns the user-supplied
size without an upper bound, so DIV_ROUND_UP(size, PAGE_SIZE) can exceed
INT_MAX and truncate when assigned to nr_pages.
When the page count wraps to a small positive value (for example a BO
larger than 16 TiB on a 4 KiB page kernel), create_sgt() succeeds after
allocating only a handful of pages while the GEM object still records
the full size, so the request never fails with -ENOMEM. The temporary
pages array and the allocation loop both use the truncated count, so the
backing SG table ends up smaller than obj->size. Later slice operations
validate against obj->size and then clone ranges from this short sgt.
Compute the page count as a u64 and reject sizes that do not fit in
nr_pages before the narrowing conversion.

Although 'commit 2feec5ae5df7 ("accel/qaic: Handle DBC deactivation if the
owner went away")' fixes the scenario it was intended for by walking the
message and only decoding QAIC_TRANS_DEACTIVATE_FROM_DEV, if present, it
skipped over the bounds checking code that is included in decode_message().
This could lead to issues such as reading past the slab allocation's end,
infinite loops or kernel panics. For those issues to happen, a malformed
wire message is needed to be sent from the device.
Instead of duplicating the bounds checking code already present in
decode_message(), use the function inside resp_worker().

In encode_message() the per-transaction lower-bound check compares
trans_hdr->len against sizeof(trans_hdr), i.e. the size of the pointer,
instead of sizeof(*trans_hdr), the size of struct qaic_manage_trans_hdr.
Every other length check in this file (encode_message() at the loop
guard, decode_message(), etc.) correctly uses sizeof(*trans_hdr), so
this is an inconsistency. On 64-bit builds the pointer and the struct
are both 8 bytes, so the check is correct by coincidence and there is
no behavioural change. On 32-bit builds the pointer is 4 bytes, which
weakens the minimum-length check below the 8-byte header size.
Use sizeof(*trans_hdr) so the check validates against the actual
transaction header size on all builds.

When a DBC is released, the device sends a QAIC_TRANS_DEACTIVATE_FROM_DEV
transaction to the host over the QAIC_CONTROL MHI channel. QAIC handles
this by calling decode_deactivate() to release the resources allocated for
that DBC. Since that handling is done in the qaic_manage_ioctl() context,
if the user goes away before receiving and handling the deactivation, the
host will be out-of-sync with the DBCs available for use, and the DBC
resources will not be freed unless the device is removed. If another user
loads and requests to activate a network, then the device assigns the same
DBC to that network, QAIC will "indefinitely" wait for dbc->in_use = false,
leading the user process to hang.
As a solution to this, handle QAIC_TRANS_DEACTIVATE_FROM_DEV transactions
that are received after the user has gone away.

This converts some of the visually simpler cases that have been split
over multiple lines. I only did the ones that are easy to verify the
resulting diff by having just that final GFP_KERNEL argument on the next
line.
Somebody should probably do a proper coccinelle script for this, but for
me the trivial script actually resulted in an assertion failure in the
middle of the script. I probably had made it a bit _too_ trivial.
So after fighting that far a while I decided to just do some of the
syntactically simpler cases with variations of the previous 'sed'
scripts.
The more syntactically complex multi-line cases would mostly really want
whitespace cleanup anyway.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

MHI stack offers the 'auto_queue' feature, which allows the MHI stack to
auto queue the buffers for the RX path (DL channel). Though this feature
simplifies the client driver design, it introduces race between the client
drivers and the MHI stack. For instance, with auto_queue, the 'dl_callback'
for the DL channel may get called before the client driver is fully probed.
This means, by the time the dl_callback gets called, the client driver's
structures might not be initialized, leading to NULL ptr dereference.
Currently, the drivers have to workaround this issue by initializing the
internal structures before calling mhi_prepare_for_transfer_autoqueue().
But even so, there is a chance that the client driver's internal code path
may call the MHI queue APIs before mhi_prepare_for_transfer_autoqueue() is
called, leading to similar NULL ptr dereference. This issue has been
reported on the Qcom X1E80100 CRD machines affecting boot.
So to properly fix all these races, drop the MHI 'auto_queue' feature
altogether and let the client driver (QRTR) manage the RX buffers manually.
In the QRTR driver, queue the RX buffers based on the ring length during
probe and recycle the buffers in 'dl_callback' once they are consumed. This
also warrants removing the setting of 'auto_queue' flag from controller
drivers.
Currently, this 'auto_queue' feature is only enabled for IPCR DL channel.
So only the QRTR client driver requires the modification.

After subsystem of the device has crashed it sends a message with
command DEBUG_TRANSFER_INFO to kernel(host). Send ACK for that message
and then prepare to collect the ramdump of the subsystem
Steps of crashdump collection is as follows,
1) Device sends DEBUG_TRANSFER_INFO message indicating that device wants
to send crashdump.
2) Send an acknowledgment to that message either ACK or NACK.
a) NACK will inform the device that host will not download the
crashdump
b) ACK will inform the device that host will download the crashdump
3) Along with the DEBUG_TRANSFER_INFO we receive a table base address and
its length, use that to download that table from device.
a) This table is meta data of the crashdump and not the actual
crashdump.
4) After we respond as ACK for message received on step 1) we start
downloading the table. Use series of MEMORY_READ/MEMORY_READ_RSP SSR
commands to download the entire table.
5) Each entry in the table represents a segment of crashdump. Once the
table downloading is complete, iterate through each entry of table
and download each crashdump segment(same as table itself). Table entry
contains the memory base address and length along with other info.
6) After the entire crashdump is downloaded send DEBUG_TRANSFER_DONE
which marks that host is terminating the crashdump transfer. This
message can be send in both success or error case.
7) After receiving DEBUG_TRANSFER_DONE_RSP hand over the crashdump to
dev_coredumpv() and free all the necessary memory.

Use check_add_overflow instead of size_add in sahara when
64b types are being added to ensure compatibility with 32b
systems. The size_add function parameters are of size_t, so
64b data types may be truncated when cast to size_t on 32b
systems. When using check_add_overflow, no type casts are made,
making it a more portable option.

expectations of how READ_DATA is performed. Larger data requests are

struct qaic_perf_stats is defined to have a DBC specified in the header,
followed by struct qaic_perf_stats_entry instances, each pointing to a BO
that is associated with the DBC. Currently, qaic_perf_stats_bo_ioctl() does
not check if the entries belong to the DBC specified in the header.
Therefore, add checks to ensure that each entry in the request is sliced
and belongs to hdr.dbc_id.

Found via code inspection that when encode_message() fails in the middle
of processing, instead of returning the actual error code, it always
returns -EINVAL. This is because the entire message length has not been
processed, and the error code is set to -EINVAL.

to accommodate the whole message, the function sleeps and tries again.

Currently, if find_and_map_user_pages() takes a DMA xfer request from the
user with a length field set to 0, or in a rare case, the host receives
QAIC_TRANS_DMA_XFER_CONT from the device where resources->xferred_dma_size
is equal to the requested transaction size, the function will return 0
before allocating an sgt or setting the fields of the dma_xfer struct.
In that case, encode_addr_size_pairs() will try to access the sgt which
will lead to a general protection fault.
Return an EINVAL in case the user provides a zero-sized ALP, or the device
requests continuation after all of the bytes have been transferred.

When a BO is created, qaic will use the page allocator to request the
memory chunks that the BO will be composed of in-memory. The number of
chunks increases when memory is segmented. For example, a 16MB BO can
be composed of four 4MB chunks or 4096 4KB chunks.
A BO is then sliced into a single or multiple slices to be transferred
to the device on the DBC's xfer queue. For that to happen, the slice
needs to encode its memory chunks into DBC requests and keep track of
them in an array, which is allocated using kcalloc(). Knowing that the
BO might be very fragmented, this array can grow so large that the
allocation may fail to find contiguous memory for it.
Replace kcalloc() with kvcalloc() to allocate the DBC requests array
for a slice.

As soon as we queue MHI buffers to receive the bootlog from the device,
we could be receiving data. Therefore all the resources needed to
process that data need to be setup prior to queuing the buffers.
We currently initialize some of the resources after queuing the buffers
which creates a race between the probe() and any data that comes back
from the device. If the uninitialized resources are accessed, we could
see page faults.
Fix the init ordering to close the race.
