Pull RISC-V updates from Paul Walmsley:
- Add support for crash hotplug
- Improve user copy performance on cores with fast misaligned accesses
- Optimize code paths involving pgtable_l{4,5}_enabled() by patching in
the return values during early boot (since these don't change during
runtime), or by specifying the return values directly in Kconfig
files (for purpose-built kernels)
- Change the PCIe bus reassignment behavior to depend on the
PCI_REASSIGN_ALL_BUS PCI flag (as ARM64 does)
- Avoid an unnecessary sstatus CSR read during context switch
- Make the sbi_ecall() macro variadic, improving code clarity
- Refactor __switch_to_vector() to prepare for upcoming vector context
switch optimizations
- Add a kselftest for vectorized user copy
- Add bounds checking on the shadow stack restore token address to
avoid it being used as an attack vector
- Fix the shadow stack and indirect branch landing pad control
functions to only update the CPU's envcfg CSR when operating on the
current task
- For MIPS RISC-V systems, add support for early boot-applied errata;
and for P8700 RISC-V systems, avoid WFI usage in the kernel (since it
is buggy)
- Add the "B" RISC-V ISA extension to hwcap and hwprobe reporting
- Add support for specifying and reporting the "Zic64b" RISC-V ISA
extension, and add it to the SpacemiT K1, K3, and Sophgo SG2044 DT
files
- Require the block size of cache management operations to be specified
in DT schema validation for the RISC-V ISA extensions Zicbom, Zicbop,
and Zicboz
- Some miscellaneous fixes: fix an incorrect bitfield width in the
RVG_SYSTEM_CSR_MASK bitmask macro; make RISCV_ALTERNATIVE mandatory,
now that XIP kernel support has been removed; and remove some
unnecessary includes in kernel/smp.c

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/mm
Pull more MM updates from Andrew Morton:
- "mm: make VMA flag semantics explicit, eliminate VM_SPECIAL" (Lorenzo
Stoakes):
Replace VM_SPECIAL with helpers describing mapping ownership and
behavior. Enforce the mmap flag rules and convert affected drivers,
removing ambiguous tests shared by driver mappings and ordinary
memory.
- "support kselftest on nommu platform" (Hajime Tazaki):
Add opt-in mmap and mremap tests for NOMMU systems. Teach the runner
to avoid its fork-dependent timeout command and document the build
and runtime requirements.
- "mm/collapse: separate a collapse from its callers" (Kiryl
Shutsemau):
Separate huge-page collapse from caller policy. Replace khugepaged
identity checks with explicit permissions, and separate scanning from
collapse with the mmap_lock drop in one place.
- "mm: implement and use vma_has_anon_rmap(), silence KCSAN" (Lorenzo
Stoakes):
Provide a common helper for testing whether a VMA has anonymous
reverse mappings. Document the locking rules, annotate intentional
concurrent reads for KCSAN, and convert the core MM callers.
- "mm/sparse: remove SECTION_MARKED_PRESENT and further cleanups"
(David Hildenbrand):
Remove SECTION_MARKED_PRESENT in favor of the early-section flag.
Simplify sparse memory initialization, section metadata handling and
related PFN validity checks.
- "sh: remove NUMA and SPARSEMEM support" (Mike Rapoport):
Remove SuperH NUMA and SPARSEMEM support. The extra memory banks have
been unusable since the NO_BOOTMEM conversion, leaving only the code
and data overhead.
- "mm: Unify device DAX and HugeTLB vmemmap population paths" (Muchun
Song):
Unify the generic device DAX and HugeTLB vmemmap population paths and
shared tail-page handling. Remove the duplicate DAX machinery while
retaining the powerpc radix implementation.
- "kselftest: mm: fix some failure of split_huge_page_test" (Yeoreum
Yun):
Fix huge-page split tests racing with khugepaged recollapse. Use
pagemap and page flags instead of VMA-boundary assumptions which fail
when glibc has already enabled THP.
- "memcg: move memcgid refcount to objcg to unpin dying memcgs"
(Bingfang Guo):
Let dying memcgs be freed while swapped-out shmem still holds their
IDs. Move ID references to reparentable objcgs, with the necessary
swap accounting and RCU lifetime changes.
- "mm/truncate: fix data loss when truncating straddling large folios"
(Zhang Yi):
Preserve out-of-range data when truncating straddling large folios.
Fix a lookup race and split-failure handling, and handle minimum
folio orders for the forthcoming ext4 iomap buffered I/O path.
- "mm/damon: introduce damos quota goal target metric complement flag"
(SJ Park):
Let DAMOS quota goals use a metric's complement, so utilization can
also express free-memory goals without adding separate metrics. Add
the sysfs interface, documentation and tests.
- "arm64/mm: Standardize printing for pgtable entries" (Anshuman
Khandual):
Use the generic formatter for arm64 page-table entries, ready for
future wider entries. Move the safe-PTE-update check out of the
header to avoid an include cycle.
- "mm: kmsan: fix iounmap metadata teardown" (Dima Koziuk):
Fix KMSAN metadata leaks on iounmap and failed ioremap allocations.
Free backing pages before removing their mappings, and share the
teardown with partial-allocation cleanup.
- "mm/damon/core: preserve quota state when constructing schemes" (Karl
Mehltretter):
Preserve running DAMOS quota state while validating parameter
updates. Even rejected updates could reset accounting and exceed the
quota window; add tests for both accepted and rejected updates.
- "mm/vmalloc: fix vmalloc_dump_obj VA lookup" (Ye Liu):
Fix vmalloc_dump_obj() lookups for last-page addresses and
allocations spanning vmap zones. These allocations were being missed
in diagnostic output.
- "mm: various (urgent?) fixes" (David Hildenbrand):
Fix mmap charge leaks and hugetlb use-after-free, wrong-address
unmapping, stuck locks and endless faults. Also preserve reservations
on failed mremap and handle stale userfaultfd bits.
- "maple_tree: fix maple_range_64 crashes in RCU mode" (Dimitris
Charisis):
Fix pointer and metadata confusion during RCU destruction of
maple_range_64 nodes, avoiding double frees and invalid accesses. Add
a regression test; no in-tree user currently uses this combination.
- "mm: fix hugetlb NR_HUGETLB accounting on folio migration" (Hongfu
Li):
Fix hugetlb migration and preallocation accounting so /proc/vmstat
retains the correct count and memory.numa_stat follows the folio to
its new node.
- "mm/damon: fix a minor bug, clean code, and add a test" (SJ Park):
Fix 32-bit DAMON age overflow which made old regions look young.
Share hugetlb folio acquisition code and add a regression test for
the previously fixed last-region skipping bug.
- "mm/damon/core: cleanup code, reduce stack usage, and add kunit" (SJ
Park):
Reduce kdamond stack usage and remove unused enums. Add deterministic
PSI quota-goal tests which do not depend on the machine's current
memory pressure.
- "mm/damon: fix the temporal goal tuner's size quota conversion"
(Donggeun Yoo):
Bound the temporal tuner's quota conversion to prevent overflow and
zero effective quotas, which could stop schemes making progress. Add
boundary tests.
- "Don't use GFP_DMA when calling dma_alloc_coherent" (Baoquan He):
Remove redundant GFP_DMA flags from coherent DMA allocation calls.
The DMA API already selects the zone from device limits and ignores
the caller's flag.
- "kselftest: mm: fix intermittent failure khugepaged test" (Yeoreum
Yun):
Propagate child-process failures in the khugepaged tests and prevent
background collapse from racing their checks. This removes false
passes and intermittent failures.
- "MAINTAINERS: cover all hugetlb headers under HUGETLB SUBSYSTEM"
(Enze Li):
Cover all hugetlb headers in MAINTAINERS so get_maintainer.pl finds
the right maintainers. Also label the closing hugetlb_cgroup.h
include guard.
Summary of the 65 singletons in this merge:
The singletons include a few worthwhile performance fixes. Avoiding
unnecessary reverse-map tree updates gave a reported 15.9% improvement
in UnixBench's execl test on a 192-core x86 system. A reclaim retry
fix stops defrag_mode from spinning under memory.low protection; a
reported file-creation stress test ran 5.7 times faster, with far less
memory pressure. Narrower hugetlb invalidations also spare KVM guests
needless refaults: the reported Redis-in-VM P99 QPS penalty while
punching holes fell from 7.09% to 1.45%.
Several fixes prevent lost data or corrupted memory. Lazyfree
huge-page races with mremap()/munmap() could lose data or access freed
memory, and MADV_COLD could lose a concurrent write's dirty bit.
Another fix prevents stale migration entries from outliving large
folios. On filesystems with blocks smaller than a page, extending a
file by 4 GiB or more could expose bytes written past the old EOF
through mmap instead of zeroes. That is fixed, along with
use-after-free races in PAGEMAP_SCAN during process exit and in
memory-cgroup accounting on PREEMPT_RT kernels.
Other fixes stop UFFDIO_MOVE spinning forever on pinned large folios,
which could wedge other memory operations, and stop mremap() leaking
commit charges until allocations fail under strict overcommit. A
further fix keeps userfaultfd tracking intact on neighboring mappings.
NUMA binding no longer prevents long-term pins when the chosen node
has only movable memory, fixing QEMU/VFIO startup and io_uring buffer
registration failures. MGLRU also gets a fix for early-boot crashes
with memory cgroups disabled at boot, notably in small crash kernels.

The is_vm_hugetlb_page() predicate is badly named - the mapping can span
more than a page and it is inconsistent with other VMA predicates that
typically are prefixed by vma_.
Rename to vma_is_hugetlb() for consistency, and while we're here update
some VM_BUG_ON_VMA() to VM_WARN_ON_ONCE_VMA() as to avoid unnecessary
oopses.
No functional change intended.

kvm_riscv_vcpu_aia_imsic_put() can run from the scheduler preemption
notifier while the raw runqueue lock is held. Taking vsfile_lock, an
rwlock_t, there violates the lockdep wait-context rules.
Protect the CPU/HGEI pair with a separate raw spinlock. All updates to
that pair retain vsfile_lock and take the new lock, while scheduler-out
uses only the new lock around the HGEIE update. This keeps the wakeup
setup serialized with VS-file publication and release without bringing
wider IMSIC operations into a raw critical section.

Defining KVM_MMIO is not flexible enough for multi-KVM systems where one
KVM implements MMIO but others do not. Therefore, remove KVM_MMIO from the
config space and use the macro __KVM_NO_MMIO instead. Define __KVM_NO_MMIO
for KVM/s390 and for HV-only 64-bit Book3s (aka pSeries/sPAPR) configurations.
In particular, for PowerPC configurations:
* KVM_BOOK3S_32 got KVM_MMIO via KVM_BOOK3S_32_HANDLER and KVM_BOOK3S_PR_POSSIBLE
* KVM_BOOK3S_64 got KVM_MMIO via KVM_BOOK3S_PR_POSSIBLE if !KVM_BOOK3S_HV_POSSIBLE
* KVM_BOOK3S_64 + KVM_BOOK3S_64_PR got KVM_MMIO via KVM_BOOK3S_PR_POSSIBLE
* likewise for KVM_BOOK3S_64 + KVM_BOOK3S_64_PR + KVM_BOOK3S_64_HV
* KVM_E500V2 and KVM_E500MC directly selected KVM_MMIO
but KVM_BOOK3S_64 + KVM_BOOK3S_64_HV didn't and therefore needs __KVM_NO_MMIO.
coalesced_mmio.c is now always compiled and linked. However, for
architectures/configurations defining __KVM_NO_MMIO this effectively
collapses to an empty object with no mmio code.
No functional changes.

The imsic_eix_read/swap/write/set accessors use a family of macros
that expand into a switch with 128 cases covering the EIP and EIE
register windows. This mirrors the csr_read_num() idiom required where
a CSR number must be encoded as a csrr instruction immediate (e.g.
drivers/perf/riscv_pmu.c), but here the register number is merely
written to vsiselect as data, so the expansion solves no real
constraint. It costs ~90 lines of nested macros and trips ~30
checkpatch errors and warnings.
Since the generated cases form two contiguous windows, [IMSIC_EIP0,
IMSIC_EIP63] and [IMSIC_EIE0, IMSIC_EIE63], the same behavior is
expressed with a simple range check. Introduce imsic_eix_ireg_is_valid()
and use it in the four accessors, removing the macros along with the
~30 checkpatch errors and warnings they caused.
No functional change intended. Compile tested with riscv64-linux-gnu-gcc
and tested on QEMU (RISC-V virt, AIA).

The SBI IPI handler walks vCPUs with kvm_for_each_vcpu(), which
iterates by vcpu_idx (creation order) rather than vcpu_id order.
Since vcpu_id can be assigned out of order by userspace, a vCPU whose
hart_bit falls outside the XLEN-bit hart_mask range may be reached
before vCPUs the mask actually targets. In that case the handler jumps
to "done" and stops sending IPIs, leaving valid target vCPUs without
an interrupt.
Replace the early "goto done" with "continue" so vCPUs outside the
hart_mask range are skipped without aborting the loop.
Reproduced with a minimal userspace VMM driving KVM inside a QEMU
(RISC-V virt) guest: three vCPUs are created with ids 100, 0, 1 (in
creation order) and sbi_send_ipi(hart_mask=bit0, hbase=0) is called
from vcpu_id 1. Before this change the IPI is dropped and the ecall
returns SBI_ERR_INVALID_PARAM; with this change the IPI is delivered
and the ecall returns SBI_SUCCESS.

AIA initialization sets up per-vCPU IMSIC state by iterating over all
online vCPUs. Creating another vCPU afterwards leaves it without
initialized IMSIC state, but KVM currently permits that sequence.
Reject KVM_CREATE_VCPU once AIA initialization succeeds. Both paths are
serialized by kvm->lock, so checking the initialized state from
kvm_arch_vcpu_precreate() freezes the vCPU set used by AIA.

pass the actual numbers of arguments for each SBI function.
The remaining trailing 0 are intentional as they represent an argument.

The generic KVM_PRE_FAULT_MEMORY ioctl lets userspace populate KVM page
tables before running a vCPU over a GPA range. x86 already supports the
ioctl, but RISC-V does not expose the capability and has no arch hook.
Add the RISC-V arch hook and reuse the existing G-stage fault mapping
path with a read access. Report progress using the G-stage mapping
returned by the map path, so the ioctl can advance by the actual leaf
size that covers the requested GPA. Retry until a mapping is installed
or a signal, VM-dead request, or real error is observed.

The kvm_vcpu_check_block() calls kvm_arch_vcpu_runnable() before
checking whether a timer is pending. On RISC-V, kvm_arch_vcpu_runnable()
already checks all pending guest interrupts through

Drop the repeated IRQ_VS_TIMER pending-interrupt check from
kvm_riscv_vcpu_timer_pending() and keep the helper focused on the timer

the timer path still injects IRQ_VS_TIMER and kicks the vCPU through the

kvm_sbi_hsm_vcpu_get_status() returns SBI_ERR_INVALID_PARAM when
the requested hart does not exist. However, the HART_STATUS case
returns from the SBI handler without storing this error in
retdata->err_val.
As a result, a guest querying the status of a non-existent hart
observes SBI_SUCCESS instead of SBI_ERR_INVALID_PARAM.
Use the common SBI error handling path for HART_STATUS after
saving a valid hart state in retdata->out_val. This preserves
the returned error when kvm_sbi_hsm_vcpu_get_status() fails.

pmu_ctr_read() adds the event count returned by perf_event_read_value()
to counter_val, which can accumulate the same count repeatedly across
reads. kvm_riscv_vcpu_pmu_ctr_stop() also leaves counter_val stale by
not folding the current event count into it.
Make reads of perf-backed counters side-effect free, and use
perf_event_pause() when stopping a counter to fold the current event
count into counter_val while resetting it. This preserves the counter

A guest may call SBI_PMU_SNAPSHOT_SET_SHMEM repeatedly. Each call
overwrites kvpmu->sdata without freeing the old buffer (memory leak),
and if a later kvm_vcpu_write_guest() fails, the error path frees
sdata but leaves snapshot_addr stale. A subsequent
SBI_PMU_COUNTER_START then passes the INVALID_GPA check and crashes
the host with a NULL buffer in kvm_vcpu_read_guest().
Fix this by clearing the previously installed snapshot area before
installing a new one, which keeps sdata and snapshot_addr consistent.
The SBI spec suggests a single invocation but defines no error code
for repeated calls, so KVM must tolerate them.

The SBI v3.0 specification (section 15.1.2) requires a nested HFENCE
entry to be populated as follows:
1) find an unused entry with Config.Pending == 0
2) update the Page_Number and Page_Count words
3) update the Config word with Config.Pending set
__kvm_riscv_nacl_hfence() writes the Config word first, so the SBI
implementation (or NACL hardware) can observe a pending entry with
pnum/pcount values left over from the previous use of that entry,
resulting in incorrect TLB flush ranges.
Write pnum and pcount first and the Config word last. Since the
consumer is an external agent on coherent shared memory, use
WRITE_ONCE() to stop the compiler from reordering the stores and
smp_wmb() to make the parameter words globally visible before the

KVM device ioctls are not serialized against KVM_RUN. As a result,
kvm_riscv_aia_imsic_rw_attr() can snapshot the physical CPU and HGEI of
an IMSIC VS-file before a concurrent vCPU migration releases it.
The HGEI can then be allocated to another vCPU before imsic_vsfile_rw()
uses the stale tuple. A GET or SET attribute may consequently access the
new owner's interrupt file.
Serialize the entire IMSIC attribute operation with the target vCPU
mutex. This prevents the VS-file from being migrated and recycled until
the attribute access completes. Acquire the mutex killably so that the
device ioctl remains interruptible while waiting for KVM_RUN to finish.

The non-Sstc hrtimer callback clears next_set before its final uses of
the enclosing vCPU. If teardown observes next_set as false while the
callback is still running, kvm_riscv_vcpu_timer_cancel() skips
hrtimer_cancel() and kvm_destroy_vcpus() can free the vCPU before the
callback enters kvm_riscv_vcpu_set_interrupt().
A guest can arm the timer with SBI TIME and request shutdown with SBI
legacy shutdown or SRST. A VMM that honors KVM_EXIT_SYSTEM_EVENT and
destroys the VM supplies the teardown side of the race; no post-launch
host ioctl is needed to arm or request teardown.

For deterministic validation, I added mdelay(1000) immediately after
the existing next_set = false assignment. This only widens the
existing post-clear callback window. A no-delay trace build naturally
reached the callback-after-teardown-start/before-deinit ordering in 12

- Eager page splitting when enabling dirty logging
- Optimize hfence request handling for SMP Guests
- Improve dirty log clearing by skipping zero bits in mask

- AI triggered fixes all over
- diag9c tracing

x86:
- Perform spring cleaning on x86.{c,h} and asm/kvm_host.h, by adding
regs.c (the kvm_cache_regs.h => regs.h is already applied) and
msrs.{c,h}, and moving relevant code out of x86.c
- Split kvm_mmu in three parts, respectively to describe the format
of page tables, walking the guest page tables and building the page
tables. Always use the same page table walker kvm->arch.gva_walk as
the entry point to convert a guest's virtual address, where the
previous code used two different kvm_mmu structs depending on
whether the walk included nested EPT/NPT or not. Make page fault
vmexits reuse the permission checking machinery that is used for
guest page faults. This is both a cleanup and a baby step towards
supporting XS/XU memory permissions
- Document some of the "fun" gotchas with the APIC base when creating
IRQCHIPs on x86
- Remove a defunct masterclock update from kvm_xen_shared_info_init().
It could result in incorrect kvmclock due to triggering an
unnecessary switch to/from masterclock mode
- Skip Xen runstate time updates if time has effectively gone
backwards, so that the guest doesn't report 100% steal time for
a very, very long time
- Drop KVM's runtime updates of the Xen PV timing CPUID leaf, as KVM
was updating the wrong sub-leaf, and upstream KVM will soon provide
all the information needed by userspace to populate the CPUID field
itself
- Fix a bug where KVM would walk a newly created rmap without holding
the rmap lock (or mmu_lock) during aging
- Fix a bug where aging TDP MMU SPTEs could clobber FROZEN SPTEs
- Fix a variety of #DB priority bugs
- Fix a class of races related to enabling Hyper-V emulation on a
vCPU after the vCPU is visible to the rest of KVM
- Use static calls for nested virtualization ops
- Move more KVM-internal code out of x86's kvm_host.h
- Enumerate support for a variety of Zhaoxin instructions that don't
require explicit virtualization
- Fix missing EFER validation bugs, including in the KVM_SET_SREGS*
path
- Harden kvm_vcpu_map() against double-mapping and thus leaking
references
- Misc fixes and cleanups, e.g. for largely benign syzkaller splats
x86 (Intel):
- Zero a vCPU's entry in VMX's Posted Interrupt Descriptor table used
for IPI virtualization when the vCPU is freed, to fix a
use-after-free where hardware will write to a freed vCPU's PID
- Service local TLB flushes on a failed nested VM-Enter to fix a bug
where KVM could miss a TLB on a future, successful VM-Enter with
the same L2 VPID
- Cap the maximum value shoved into the VMX Preemption Timer to
workaround an erratum that affects all existing Intel CPUs that
support CPUID 0x15
- Fix VPID virtualization bugs where KVM would fail to flush hardware
TLBs
- Harden the TDX "populate" ioctls against bad input, and to prepare
for supporting in-place private<=>shared conversion
x86 (AMD):
- Forcefully invalidate SNP VMSA pages if their backing guest_memfd
page is zapped/invalidated, e.g. due to a PUNCH_HOLE in response to
a Page-State Change request
- Remove a dying VM from the GA Log notifier list before the VM is
actually destroyed, to fix a potential use-after-free
- While FOLL_WRITE was needed in the past to trigger CoW unsharing,
nowadays FOLL_LONGTERM does that already even without FOLL_WRITE,
and in fact, get_user_pages() actually disallows FOLL_WRITE
together with FOLL_LONGTERM. So don't pass FOLL_WRITE when
registering encrypted memory regions, i.e. when pinning SEV/SEV-ES
guest memory, to fix a regression with file-backed memory
introduced by KVM's (correct) usage of long-term pins
(This was reviewed by mm maintainers; for more information, see
commit ee1a586dd1fa "KVM: SEV: Drop FOLL_WRITE for encrypted region
registration")
- Allocate full pages for SEV/SEV-ES {DE,EN}CRYPT ops on SNP-enabled
hosts to fix a data corruption issue due to the PSP driver
assigning to-be-written pages to firmware (as required by the SNP
specs)
- Unconditionally intercept ICBEP so that KVM generates the correct
guest RIP when handling an ICEBP-induced TASK_SWITCH #VMEXIT
- Harden the SNP "populate" ioctls against bad input, and to prepare
for supporting in-place private<=>shared conversion
Generic:
- Remove kvm_debugfs_dir if kvm_init() fails after creating KVM's
debugfs
- Add a per-VM bitmap to track which vCPU IDs have been "claimed" but
for which the vCPU isn't yet online, and use the bitmap to reject
duplicate IDs before calling into arch code. This allows arch code
to consume vcpu_id without having to worry about cross-vCPU
clobbering (at least s390 and x86 have had related bugs)
- Rework the so called "prepare" and "invalidate" guest_memfd hooks
to prepare for in-place private<=>shared conversion, and clean up a
few warts along the way
Selftests:
- Automatically allocate a full page for L2 guest stacks on x86
instead of requiring test-specific L1 guest code to carve out a
portion of the L1 stack for L2 usage, and to ensure the L2 stack
also adheres to the x86-64 calling convention ABI
- Add a selftest to verify {Guest,Host}-Only behavior in x86's
mediated PMU
- Clean up nested SVM's handling of GPRs on L2<=>L1 transitions,
reuse the functionality for nested VMX, and drop the ucall hack
that was fudging around the lack of GPR switching on nVMX
- Add a stress test to verify KVM doesn't clobber/drop #PF state,
e.g. CR2, across save/restore, including when L2 is active
- Add a test to verify KVM_CREATE_VM accepts exactly what is reported
by KVM_CAP_VM_TYPES
- Misc selftests fixes and cleanups
- Fix several issues with seeding the pRNG, and rework the pRNG APIs
to that the pRNG can be sanely used in host code, not just guest
code
- Add an IRQ test to validate virtual IRQ deliverty for IRQs wired up
via KVM_IRQFD + KVM_SET_GSI_ROUTING, with optional support for
triggering IRQs via writes to an assigned VFIO device
- Add syscall wrappers to assert success on a variety of pthreads and
CPU affinity APIs
- Set vCPU pthread affinity as early as possible to reduce contention
issues that were surfaced by PREEMPT_LAZY, which result in runtimes
of over a minute on large hosts, versus the expected ~5 seconds
- Rework the PMU counters test to run each testcase using a single VM
with many vCPUs for each sub-testcase, instead of using a unique VM
for each sub-testcase. This cuts the runtime by ~20x

- MAINTAINERS updates for vfio-ap, guest_memfd, kvm-x86. Mostly

Running vector workloads like perf + mcf on KVM can result in an
unexpected termination due to a vtype corruption. This happens because
the kernel-mode vector (KMV) misattributes the guest's vcpu context as
the user's context and source from a wrong status.VS.
The simplified call chain that results in this problem is shown as
follow:
__riscv_sys_ioctl()
kvm_arch_vcpu_ioctl_run()
kvm_riscv_vcpu_exit()
kvm_riscv_vcpu_sbi_ecall()
kvm_riscv_vcpu_pmu_ctr_stop()
kvm_vcpu_write_guest()
__copy_to_user()
enter_vector_usercopy()
kernel_vector_begin()
kernel_vector_begin() should use the sstatus.VS from guest's vcpu
context instead of task_pt_reg(current). Also, it should not save
guest's v-reg into the user's context memory.
To resolve this, the vcpu context must be correctly saved when KMV is
serving a guest. However, invoking KVM functions directly from generic
RISC-V architecture code introduces a reverse dependency, breaking
builds when KVM is configured as N or M.
Address this by registering an RCU-protected callback for context
flushing. KVM registers this callback at module initialization and
unregisters it on exit. When KMV starts a kernel context, it can now
safely flush the vector context via the callback.

Register a CPU_PM notifier to restore hypervisor CSR content during CPU
non-retention idle states. When a CPU enters a deep idle state that
powers off the CPU domain, hypervisor CSRs and VS CSRs lose their state
and must be saved before entry and restored after exit.
This completes KVM's power management coverage for RISC-V:
- CPU hotplug: handled by kvm_online_cpu/kvm_offline_cpu (cpuhp callbacks)
- System suspend: handled by kvm_suspend/kvm_resume (syscore ops)
- CPU idle (retention): no action needed, CSRs are retained
- CPU idle (non-retention): handled by this CPU_PM notifier

When a CPU is taken offline or enters deep idle states, hypervisor CSR
state is lost. The kvm_former_vcpu fast-path optimization caches the
last VCPU that ran on each CPU to avoid expensive CSR restoration when
the same VCPU is re-scheduled on the same CPU. However, if this cache
is not cleared when CSR state is lost, the next VCPU entry will
incorrectly skip CSR restoration, leading to corrupt hypervisor state.
Add kvm_riscv_clear_former_vcpu() to invalidate the per-CPU cache and
call it from kvm_arch_disable_virtualization_cpu() to ensure proper CSR
restoration after CPU offline or system suspend events.

KVM already treats a NULL hart-mask pointer in SBI v0.1 calls as all
harts, matching OpenSBI's legacy handling. The current handler builds that
target set as (1UL << online_vcpus) - 1 before iterating the mask.
That expression shifts by the type width once the VM has BITS_PER_LONG
online vCPUs, and a single word cannot represent larger VMs. A count-based
mask also selects the wrong IDs when vCPU IDs are sparse.
Handle SEND_IPI with a NULL hart-mask by iterating all online vCPUs
directly. For remote fence calls, use the existing hbase == -1UL
convention so the common fence request helper targets the whole VM
without consulting hmask.
Non-NULL guest hart masks keep the existing v0.1 behavior.

The local HFENCE range helpers build the loop end with addr + size and
then step through the range by the requested page order. If addr + size
wraps, a small range near the top of the address space can be treated as
empty and skip the intended fence. The final loop step can also wrap
before the loop condition is evaluated again.
Treat wrapped ranges conservatively as full-range HFENCE requests and stop
each bounded loop before the next step can wrap past the computed end. This
keeps the existing large-range fallback and only changes local GVMA/VVMA
range construction.

KVM lets userspace configure the IMSIC guest, HART, group-width, and
group-shift fields independently. The individual bounds allow a layout
such as guest_bits=7, hart_bits=6, group_bits=1, and group_shift=24.
That layout places the group index bit at bit 24 while the lower
guest+HART field also extends through bit 24. The IMSIC address helpers
later consume these values as one address layout: aia_imsic_ppn() masks
the lower guest+HART field and the group field, while
aia_imsic_hart_index() combines the group and HART index. Allowing an
overlapping configuration therefore gives one address bit two different
meanings.

The existing kvm_riscv_gstage_wp_range() walks the entire [start, end)
range to apply write protection for dirty log clearing, even when the
provided mask has zero bits (i.e., many GFNs do not need protection).
This leads to unnecessary page table walks when the mask is sparse.
Replace the range-based approach with a new function
kvm_riscv_gstage_wp_pt_masked() that iterates only over the set bits in
the mask. For each set bit, it looks up the leaf PTE and applies write
protection. Once a huge page is encountered, the entire huge-page range
is processed in one go, and the corresponding bits in the mask are cleared
using bitmap_clear().
Performance was measured with KVM selftests dirty_log_perf_test on a
Spacemit k3 host with the following configuration:
- vCPUs: 2 (-v 2)
- Memory: 1GB (-b 1G)
- Iterations: 3 (-i 3)
- Write percentage varied via -w parameter to simulate different
dirty mask densities.
The following data shows the time spent in the clear-dirty-log phase
(i.e., the KVM_CLEAR_DIRTY_LOG ioctl) under each configuration.
+------------------+------------------+------------------+-------------+
| Write Percentage | Original (s) | Patched (s) | Improvement |
+------------------+------------------+------------------+-------------+
| 10% | 0.012905 | 0.009213 | +28.6% |
| 30% | 0.014217 | 0.010287 | +27.6% |
| 50% | 0.014606 | 0.011772 | +19.4% |
| 70% | 0.014735 | 0.013199 | +10.4% |
| 100% | 0.014759 | 0.015294 | -3.6% |
+------------------+------------------+------------------+-------------+
The performance improvement is most significant when the dirty mask is
sparse (low write percentage), which is common in real-world scenarios
with low to moderate memory write intensity. In the worst-case scenario
where the mask is fully set (100% write), the optimization introduces
a slight 3.6% overhead due to the additional bit operations, which is
acceptable given the substantial gains in common cases.
This change significantly reduces the number of page-table walks when
the dirty mask has many zero bits, improving the efficiency of
KVM_CLEAR_DIRTY_LOG and related ioctls.

When handling hfence requests in make_xfence_request(), the current code
uses a single 'actual_req' variable and a single vcpu_mask. If any VCPU
fails to enqueue the hfence data (because its queue is full), the request
falls back to 'fallback_req' for all VCPUs, even if other VCPUs still
have available queue space.
This can cause unnecessary fallback for healthy VCPUs, and more seriously,
those healthy VCPUs will not process their already-enqueued hfence
requests because no 'req' is set for them. As a result, their queues will
quickly become full as well, degrading performance for SMP guests.
Fix this by maintaining two separate bitmaps: one for VCPUs that
successfully enqueued the hfence data (req_vcpu_mask) and another for
those that failed (fallback_req_vcpu_mask). Then send the appropriate
requests to each group. This ensures that fallback is only applied to
VCPUs that actually need it, preserving the efficiency of the normal
path for others.

the same approach as on x86. This parameter controls whether eager

When eager page splitting is enabled, KVM proactively splits large
