The ON Semiconductor PCA9655E is a 16-bit I2C GPIO expander that the
pca953x driver handles as a PCA9555: both entries of its OF match
table carry OF_953X(16, PCA_INT), and onnn,pca9655 has been there since
commit 6d49b3a0f351 ("gpio: pca953x: Add support for the On Semi

Add a Devicetree binding for the SGPIO controller found on the
Axiado AX3005 SoC.
Each SGPIO position provides one fixed-direction input GPIO and one
fixed-direction output GPIO. Input GPIOs support edge-triggered
interrupts.
The controller serializes output values and samples input values over
dedicated data, clock, and latch signals.

Some QE GPIO pins have an associated interrupt line in the QE PIC to
signal state changes on the pin. Add the corresponding
interrupt-controller / nexus properties to the QE GPIO binding.
Because the GPIO controller does not perform any interrupt handling
itself, a nexus node (interrupt-map) is used to map each GPIO line
supporting IRQ to the parent QE PIC interrupt domain.
As the QE PIC can be configured to generate an interrupt on either a
high-to-low transition or any change in signal state, three
interrupt-map entries are needed per GPIO pin that can yield an
interrupt (falling, both, and the "none" case which defaults to both in
QE PIC). This overhead is necessary because the interrupt-map-pass-thru
property is not part of the DT specification.
The interrupt-map property is optional: it is not required for GPIO
banks that have no interrupt capable GPIO line (e.g. port D on MPC8323),
or when interrupt functionality is not used.
Update the example to show a scenario where each bank supports a
different numbers of IRQs, or no IRQs at all.

EIO (Extended IO) GPIO is a Xilinx IP block that exposes
multiplexed I/O pins through an EIO interface.
The EIO GPIO block has 2 banks with 26 GPIOs each (52 total).
The GPIO width cannot be determined from the hardware registers,
the driver relies on the compatible string to select the correct
bank/pin configuration. A new compatible is therefore required.
The block is currently present on xa2ve3288 silicon.
The compatible string uses version 1.0 matching the IP core version.

The 74HC595 and 74LVC594 shift registers latch their outputs until the
first serial write, so boards that depend on a specific power-on pattern
(for example active-low indicators, reset lines, or other signals that
must come up non-zero) have no way to express that today: the Linux
driver always writes zeros from its zero-initialised buffer during
probe.
Document support for the existing lines-initial-states bitmask, already
defined for nxp,pcf8575, so the same convention covers this output-only
device. Bit N corresponds to GPIO line N. Because the 74HC595/74LVC594
family is push-pull output only (no input mode, no high-impedance state
under software control), bit=0 drives the line low and bit=1 drives it
high; this differs from nxp,pcf8575, where the 0/1 polarity reflects the
quasi-bidirectional nature of that part.
The bitmask covers up to 32 lines, which fits the typical 1-4 chip
cascades that appear in tree. Should longer chains require seeding in
the future, the property can be extended to a uint32-array without
breaking the bit-N-equals-line-N convention.

Pull gpio updates from Bartosz Golaszewski:
"For this merge window we have two new drivers: support for
GPIO-signalled ACPI events on Intel platforms and a generic
GPIO-over-pinctrl driver using the ARM SCMI protocol for
controlling pins.
Several things have been reworked in GPIO core: we unduplicated GPIO
hog handling, reduced the number of SRCU locks and dereferences,
improved support for software-node-based lookup and removed more
legacy code after converting remaining users to modern alternatives.
There's also a number of driver reworks and refactoring, documentation
updates, some bug-fixes and new tests.
GPIO core:
- defer probe on software node lookups when the remote software node
exists but has not been registered as a firmware node yet
- unify GPIO hog handling by moving code duplicated in OF and ACPI
modules into GPIO core and allow setting up hogs with software
nodes
- allow matching GPIO controllers by secondary firmware node if
matching by primary does not succeed
- demote deferral warnings to debug level as they are quite normal
when using software nodes which don't support fw_devlink yet
- disable the legacy GPIO character device uAPI v1 supprt in Kconfig
by default
- rework several core functions in preparation for the upcoming
Revocable helper library for protecting resources against sudden
removal, this reduces the number of SRCU dereferences in GPIO core
- simplify file descriptor logic in GPIO character device code by
using FD_PREPARE()
- introduce a header defining symbols used by both GPIO consumers and
providers to avoid having to include provider-specific headers from
drivers which only consume GPIOs
- replace snprintf() with strscpy() where formatting is not required
New drivers:
- add the gpio-by-pinctrl generic driver using the ARM SCMI protocol
to control GPIOs (along with SCMI changes pulled from the pinctrl
tree)
- add a driver providing support for handling of platform events via
GPIO-signalled ACPI events (used on Intel Nova Lake and later
platforms)
Driver changes:
- extend the gpio-kempld driver with support for more recent models,
interrupts and setting/getting multiple values at once
- improve interrupt handling in gpio-brcmstb
- add support for multi-SoC systems in gpio-tegra186
- make sure we return correct values from the .get() callbacks in
several GPIO drivers by normalizing any values other than 0, 1 or
negative error numbers
- use flexible arrays in several drivers to reduce the number of
required memory allocations
- simplify synchronous waiting for virtual drivers to probe and
remove the dedicated, a bit overengineered helper library
dev-sync-probe
- remove unneeded Kconfig dependencies on OF_GPIO in several drivers
and subsystems
- convert the two remaining users of of_get_named_gpio() to using
GPIO descriptors and remove the (no longer used) function along
with the header that declares it
- add missing includes in gpio-mmio
- shrink and simplify code in gpio-max732x by using guard(mutex)
- remove duplicated code handling the 'ngpios' property from
gpio-ts4800, it's already handled in GPIO core
- use correct variable type in gpio-aspeed
- add support for a new model in gpio-realtek-otto
- allow to specify the active-low setting of simulated hogs over the
configfs interface (in addition to existing devicetree support) in
gpio-sim
Bug fixes:
- clear the OF_POPULATED flag on hog nodes in GPIO chip remove path
on OF systems
- fix resource leaks in error path in gpiochip_add_data_with_key()
- drop redundant device reference in gpio-mpsse
Tests:
- add selftests for use-after-free cases in GPIO character device
code
DT bindings:
- add a DT binding document for SCMI based, gpio-over-pinctrl devices
- fix interrupt description in microchip,mpfs-gpio
- add new compatible for gpio-realtek-otto
- describe the resets of the mpfs-gpio controller
- fix maintainer's email in gpio-delay bindings
- remove the binding document for cavium,thunder-8890 as the
corresponding device is bound over PCI and not firmware nodes
Documentation:
- update the recommended way of converting legacy boards to using
software nodes for GPIO description
- describe GPIO line value semantics
- misc updates to kerneldocs
Misc:
- convert OMAP1 ams-delta board to using GPIO hogs described with
software nodes"

The microchip,mpfs-gpio binding suffered greatly due to being written
with a narrow minded view of the controller, and the interrupt bits
ended up incorrect. It was mistakenly assumed that the interrupt
configuration was set by platform firmware, based on the FPGA
configuration, and that the GPIO DT nodes were the only way to really
communicate interrupt configuration to software.
Instead, the mux should be a device in its own right, and the GPIO
controllers should be connected to it, rather than to the PLIC.
Now that a binding exists for that mux, try to fix the misconceptions
in the GPIO controller binding.
Firstly, it's not possible for this controller to have fewer than 14
GPIOs, and thus 14 interrupts also. There are three controllers, with
14, 24 & 32 GPIOs each. The fabric core, CoreGPIO, can of course have
a customisable number of GPIOs.
The example is wacky too - it follows from the incorrect understanding
that the GPIO controllers are connected to the PLIC directly. They are
not however, with a mux sitting in between. Update the example to use
the mux as a parent, and the interrupt numbers at the mux for GPIO2 as
the example - rather than the strange looking, repeated <53>.

Both CoreGPIO and the hardened versions of it on mpfs and pic64gx have a
reset pin. For the former, usually this is wired to a common fabric
reset not managed by software and for the latter two the platform
firmware takes them out of reset on first-party boards (or those using
modified versions of the vendor firmware), but not all boards may take
this approach. Permit providing a reset in devicetree for Linux, or

Extend the existing Tegra186 GPIO controller device tree bindings with
support for the GPIO controller found on Tegra264. The number of pins
is slightly different, but the programming model remains the same.
Add a new header, include/dt-bindings/gpio/nvidia,tegra264-gpio.h,
that defines port IDs as well as the TEGRA264_MAIN_GPIO() helper,
both of which are used in conjunction to create a unique specifier
for each pin.
On Tegra, GPIO wake events are latched and routed via the PMC.
Document the standard DT property, wakeup-parent, which is a phandle to
the PMC interrupt controller that provides the parent wake interrupt
domain for the GPIO controller. If the property is absent the driver
falls back to a compatible-based lookup.

In commit f48b5e8bc2e1 ("dt-bindings: gpio-mmio: Add compatible string
for opencores, gpio") we marked opencores, gpio to be allowed with
brcm,bcm6345-gpio. This was wrong, opencores, gpio is not compatible with
brcm,bcm6345-gpio. It has a different register map and is 8-bit vs
Broadcom which is 32-bit. Change opencores, gpio to be a separate
compatible string for MMIO GPIO.
Also, as this change rewrote the entire enum, I took this opportunity to
