When an skb with unreadable fragments (such as from devmem TCP, where
skb_frags_readable(skb) returns false) is processed by the u32 module,
skb_copy_bits() will safely return a negative error code [..]
xt_u32: bail out with hotdrop in this case.
gather_frags: return -1, just as if we had no fragment header.
nfnetlink_queue: restrict to the linear part.
nfnetlink_log: restrict to the linear part.

nf_ct_frag6_reasm() slides the packet head forward to drop the IPv6
fragment header and then unconditionally advances skb->mac_header:
skb->mac_header += sizeof(struct frag_hdr);
On the NF_INET_LOCAL_OUT defrag path the skb has no link-layer header
yet, so skb->mac_header is still the "not set" sentinel (u16)~0U. Adding
sizeof(struct frag_hdr) wraps it to a small value (0xffff + 8 == 7),
after which skb_mac_header_was_set() wrongly reports a MAC header is
present and skb_mac_header() points into the headroom.
The reassembler has done this unconditional add since it was introduced;
it was harmless while mac_header was a bare pointer, but wrong once
mac_header became a u16 offset whose unset state is the ~0U sentinel
tested by skb_mac_header_was_set(). The sibling net/ipv6/reassembly.c
does the same relocation and does guard the adjustment; mirror the
guard here.

The ah, hbh and rt matches check that the fixed extension header is
present, then use the header length field to derive the advertised
extension header length for matching.
For the ah match, add the missing advertised-length check. For hbh
and rt, update the existing advertised-length checks. In all three
cases, set hotdrop to true before returning false when the advertised
extension header length exceeds the available skb data.
Returning false treats the packet as a rule mismatch. Set hotdrop to
true and drop malformed packets so they cannot bypass rules intended
to drop packets with these IPv6 extension headers.

For NFT_FIB_RESULT_OIFNAME the destination register is declared with
len = IFNAMSIZ (four 32-bit registers), but on the lookup-fail,
RTN_LOCAL and oif-mismatch paths nft_fib{4,6}_eval() only writes one
register via "*dest = 0". The remaining three registers are left as
whatever was on the stack in nft_do_chain()'s struct nft_regs, and a
downstream expression that loads the register span can leak that
uninitialised kernel stack to userspace.
The NFTA_FIB_F_PRESENT existence check has the same shape: it is only
meaningful for NFT_FIB_RESULT_OIF, yet it was accepted for any result type
while the eval stores a single byte via nft_reg_store8(), leaving the rest
of the declared span stale.
Fix both:
- replace the bare "*dest = 0" in the eval with nft_fib_store_result(),
which strscpy_pad()s the whole IFNAMSIZ for OIFNAME (and is already
used on the other early-return path), and
- restrict NFTA_FIB_F_PRESENT to NFT_FIB_RESULT_OIF and declare its
destination as a single u8, so the marked span matches the one byte
the eval writes.

The native and compat get-entries paths copy the fixed rule entry header
from the kernelized rule blob to userspace before overwriting the entry's
counter fields with a sanitized counter snapshot.
On SMP kernels, entry->counters.pcnt contains the percpu allocation
address used by x_tables rule counters. A caller can provide a userspace
buffer that faults during the initial fixed-header copy after pcnt has
been copied but before the later sanitized counter copy runs. The syscall
then returns -EFAULT while leaving the raw percpu pointer in userspace.
Copy only the fixed entry prefix before counters from the kernelized rule
blob, then copy the sanitized counter snapshot into the counter field.
Apply this ordering to the IPv4, IPv6, and ARP native and compat
get-entries implementations so a fault cannot expose the internal percpu
counter pointer.

This was reported by Sashiko [1].
The RCU walk over rt->fib6_siblings can spin forever if rt is unlinked
mid-iteration: rt->fib6_siblings.next still points into the old ring,
so the loop never meets &rt->fib6_siblings as its terminator.
fib6_purge_rt() always does WRITE_ONCE(rt->fib6_nsiblings, 0) before
list_del_rcu(), so readers can use rt->fib6_nsiblings == 0 as the
detach signal. The same pattern is used in fib6_info_uses_dev() and
rt6_nlmsg_size().

Similar to a few other subsystems: add a new config toggle to
enable netfilter gcov profiling in netfilter, including ebtables,
arptables and so on.
ipset and ipvs gain their own, dedicated toggles.

This feature is required to use 32bit arp/ip/ip6/ebtables binaries on
64bit kernels. I don't think there are many users left.
Support has been a compile-time option since 2021 and defaults to off
since 2023.
The XTABLES_COMPAT config option is already off in many distributions
including Debian and Fedora.
Give a few more months before complete removal but disable support in
user namespaces already.

nft_fib6_info_nh_uses_dev() runs from nft_fib6_eval() in softirq under
rcu_read_lock(). fib6_siblings is modified by writers that hold
tb6_lock but do not wait for RCU readers, so the sibling walk should
use list_for_each_entry_rcu(): it adds READ_ONCE() on the ->next
pointer and lets CONFIG_PROVE_RCU_LIST validate the locking.
No functional change for non-debug builds.

struct ip6t_opts stores at most IP6T_OPTS_OPTSNR option descriptors,
but hbh_mt6_check() does not reject larger optsnr values supplied from
userspace.
Validate optsnr in the rule setup path so only match data that fits the
fixed-size opts array can be installed. This follows the existing xtables
pattern of rejecting invalid user-provided counts in checkentry() and
keeps the packet matching path unchanged.
`struct ip6t_opts` has a fixed `opts[IP6T_OPTS_OPTSNR]` array,
where `IP6T_OPTS_OPTSNR` is 16, then off-by-one array access is possible:

Previous change added xtables_unregister_table_pre_exit to detach the
table from the packetpath and to unlink it from the active table list.
In case of rmmod, userspace that is doing set/getsockopt for this table
will not be able to re-instantiate the table:
1. The larval table has been removed already
2. existing instantiated table is no longer on the xt pernet table list.
This adds the second stage helper:
unlink the table from the dying list, free the hook ops (if any) and do
the audit notification. It replaces xt_unregister_table().

When the module is going away we need to zap the template
first. Else there is a small race window where userspace
could instantiate a new table after the pernet exit function
has removed the current table.

Remove the copypasted variants of _pre_exit and add one single
function in the xtables core. ebtables is not compatible with
x_tables and therefore unchanged.
This is a preparation patch to reduce noise in the followup
bug fixes.

arp/ip(6)t_register_table() add the table to the per-netns list via
xt_register_table() before allocating the per-netns hook ops copy
via kmemdup_array(). This leaves a window where the table is
visible in the list with ops=NULL.
If the pernet exit happens runs concurrently the pre_exit callback finds
the table via xt_find_table() and passes the NULL ops pointer to
nf_unregister_net_hooks(), causing a NULL dereference:

Fix by moving the ops allocation into the xtables core so the table is
never in the list without valid ops. Also ensure the table is no longer
processing packets before its torn down on error unwind.
nf_register_net_hooks might have published at least one hook; call
synchronize_rcu() if there was an error.
audit log register message gets deferred until all operations have
passed, this avoids need to emit another ureg message in case of
error unwinding.

Both nft_socket and xt_socket relies on L4 headers to perform socket
lookup in the slow path. For fragmented packets, while the IP protocol
remains constant across all fragments, only the first fragment contains
the actual L4 header.
As the expression/match could be attached to a chain with a priority
lower than -400, it could bypass defragmentation.
Add a check for fragmentation in the lookup functions directly so the
problem is handled for both nft_socket and xt_socket at the same time.
In addition, future users of the functions would not need to care about
this.

path doesn't use the original nf_hook_ops that are used to register the
callbacks.
However, in v5.14 I added the ability to dump the active netfilter
hooks from userspace.
This code will peek back into the nf_hook_ops that are available
at the tail of the pointer-array blob used by the datapath.
The nat hooks are special, because they are called indirectly from
the central nat dispatcher hook. They are currently invisible to
the nfnl hook dump subsystem though.
But once that changes the nat ops structures have to be deferred too."

from error path which can be also an issue for nfnetlink_hook.

`ip6t_eui64`, `xt_mac`, the `bitmap:ip,mac`, `hash:ip,mac`, and
`hash:mac` ipset types, and `nf_log_syslog` access `eth_hdr(skb)`
after either assuming that the skb is associated with an Ethernet
device or checking only that the `ETH_HLEN` bytes at
`skb_mac_header(skb)` lie between `skb->head` and `skb->data`.
Make these paths first verify that the skb is associated with an
Ethernet device, that the MAC header was set, and that it spans at
least a full Ethernet header before accessing `eth_hdr(skb)`.

`eui64_mt6()` derives a modified EUI-64 from the Ethernet source address
and compares it with the low 64 bits of the IPv6 source address.
The existing guard only rejects an invalid MAC header when
`par->fragoff != 0`. For packets with `par->fragoff == 0`, `eui64_mt6()`
can still reach `eth_hdr(skb)` even when the MAC header is not valid.
Fix this by removing the `par->fragoff != 0` condition so that packets
with an invalid MAC header are rejected before accessing `eth_hdr(skb)`.

Reject rt match rules whose addrnr exceeds IP6T_RT_HOPS.
rt_mt6() expects addrnr to stay within the bounds of rtinfo->addrs[].
Validate addrnr during rule installation so malformed rules are rejected
before the match logic can use an out-of-range value.

Existing code works but it requires a temporary dst object that is
released again right away.
Switch to fib6_lookup + RT6_LOOKUP_F_DST_NOREF: no need for temporary dst
objects and refcount overhead anymore.

This facility was disabled in commit
9e539c5b6d9c ("netfilter: nf_tables: disable expression reduction infra"),
because not all nft_exprs guarantee they will update the destination
register: some may set NFT_BREAK instead to cancel evaluation of the
rule.
This has been dead code ever since.
There are no plans to salvage this at this time, so remove this.

tcp reject code won't reply to a tcp reset.
But the icmp reject 'netdev' family versions will reply to icmp
dst-unreach errors, unlike icmp_send() and icmp6_send() which are used
by the inet family implementation (and internally by the REJECT target).
Check for the icmp(6) type and do not respond if its an unreachable error.
Without this, something like 'ip protocol icmp reject', when used
in a netdev chain attached to 'lo', cause a packet loop.
Same for two hosts that both use such a rule: each error packet
will be replied to.
Such situation persist until the (bogus) rule is amended to ratelimit or
checks the icmp type before the reject statement.
As the inet versions don't do this make the netdev ones follow along.

These socket lookup functions required struct inet_hashinfo because
they are shared by TCP and DCCP.

DCCP has gone, and we don't need to pass hashinfo down to them.
Let's fetch net->ipv4.tcp_death_row.hashinfo directly in the above

This is because blamed commit forgot about loopback packets.
Such packets already have a dst_entry attached, even at PRE_ROUTING stage.
Instead of checking hook just check if the skb already has a route
attached to it.

The seqcount xt_recseq is used to synchronize the replacement of
xt_table::private in xt_replace_table() against all readers such as
ipt_do_table()
To ensure that there is only one writer, the writing side disables
bottom halves. The sequence counter can be acquired recursively. Only the
first invocation modifies the sequence counter (signaling that a writer
is in progress) while the following (recursive) writer does not modify
the counter.
The lack of a proper locking mechanism for the sequence counter can lead
to live lock on PREEMPT_RT if the high prior reader preempts the
writer. Additionally if the per-CPU lock on PREEMPT_RT is removed from
local_bh_disable() then there is no synchronisation for the per-CPU
sequence counter.
The affected code is "just" the legacy netfilter code which is replaced
by "netfilter tables". That code can be disabled without sacrificing
functionality because everything is provided by the newer
implementation. This will only requires the usage of the "-nft" tools
instead of the "-legacy" ones.
The long term plan is to remove the legacy code so lets accelerate the
progress.
Relax dependencies on iptables legacy, replace select with depends on,
this should cause no harm to existing kernel configs and users can still
toggle IP{6}_NF_IPTABLES_LEGACY in any case.
Make EBTABLES_LEGACY, IPTABLES_LEGACY and ARPTABLES depend on
NETFILTER_XTABLES_LEGACY. Hide xt_recseq and its users,
xt_register_table() and xt_percpu_counter_alloc() behind
NETFILTER_XTABLES_LEGACY. Let NETFILTER_XTABLES_LEGACY depend on
!PREEMPT_RT.
This will break selftest expecing the legacy options enabled and will be
addressed in a following patch.

nf_skb_duplicated is a per-CPU variable and relies on disabled BH for its
locking. Without per-CPU locking in local_bh_disable() on PREEMPT_RT
this data structure requires explicit locking.
Due to the recursion involved, the simplest change is to make it a
per-task variable.
Move the per-CPU variable nf_skb_duplicated to task_struct and name it
in_nf_duplicate. Add it to the existing bitfield so it doesn't use
additional memory.

fib has two modes:
1. Obtain output device according to source or destination address
2. Obtain the type of the address, e.g. local, unicast, multicast.
'fib daddr type' should return 'local' if the address is configured
in this netns or unicast otherwise.
'fib daddr . iif type' should return 'local' if the address is configured
on the input interface or unicast otherwise, i.e. more restrictive.
However, if the interface is part of a VRF, then 'fib daddr type'
returns unicast even if the address is configured on the incoming
interface.
This is broken for both ipv4 and ipv6.
In the ipv4 case, inet_dev_addr_type must only be used if the
'iif' or 'oif' (strict mode) was requested.
Else inet_addr_type_dev_table() needs to be used and the correct
dev argument must be passed as well so the correct fib (vrf) table
is used.
In the ipv6 case, the bug is similar, without strict mode, dev is NULL
so .flowi6_l3mdev will be set to 0.
Add a new 'nft_fib_l3mdev_master_ifindex_rcu()' helper and use that
to init the .l3mdev structure member.
For ipv6, use it from nft_fib6_flowi_init() which gets called from
both the 'type' and the 'route' mode eval functions.
This provides consistent behaviour for all modes for both ipv4 and ipv6:
If strict matching is requested, the input respectively output device
of the netfilter hooks is used.
Otherwise, use skb->dev to obtain the l3mdev ifindex.
Without this, most type checks in updated nft_fib.sh selftest fail:

With a VRF, ipv4 and ipv6 FIB expression behave differently.
fib daddr . iif oif
Will return the input interface name for ipv4, but the real device
for ipv6. Example:
If VRF device name is tvrf and real (incoming) device is veth0.
First round is ok, both ipv4 and ipv6 will yield 'veth0'.
But in the second round (incoming device will be set to "tvrf"), ipv4
will yield "tvrf" whereas ipv6 returns "veth0" for the second round too.
This makes ipv6 behave like ipv4.
A followup patch will add a test case for this, without this change
it will fail with:

nf_sk_lookup_slow_v4 does the conntrack lookup for IPv4 packets to
restore the original 5-tuple in case of SNAT, to be able to find the
right socket (if any). Then socket_match() can correctly check whether
the socket was transparent.
However, the IPv6 counterpart (nf_sk_lookup_slow_v6) lacks this
conntrack lookup, making xt_socket fail to match on the socket when the
packet was SNATed. Add the same logic to nf_sk_lookup_slow_v6.
IPv6 SNAT is used in Kubernetes clusters for pod-to-world packets, as
pods' addresses are in the fd00::/8 ULA subnet and need to be replaced
with the node's external address. Cilium leverages Envoy to enforce L7
policies, and Envoy uses transparent sockets. Cilium inserts an iptables
prerouting rule that matches on `-m socket --transparent` and redirects
the packets to localhost, but it fails to match SNATed IPv6 packets due
to that missing conntrack lookup.

In case the fib match is used from the input hook we can avoid the fib
lookup if early demux assigned a socket for us: check that the input
interface matches sk-cached one.
Rework the existing 'lo bypass' logic to first check sk, then
for loopback interface type to elide the fib lookup.
This speeds up fib matching a little, before:
93.08 GBit/s (no rules at all)
75.1 GBit/s ("fib saddr . iif oif missing drop" in prerouting)
75.62 GBit/s ("fib saddr . iif oif missing drop" in input)
After:
92.48 GBit/s (no rules at all)
75.62 GBit/s (fib rule in prerouting)
90.37 GBit/s (fib rule in input).
Numbers for the 'no rules' and 'prerouting' are expected to
closely match in-between runs, the 3rd/input test case exercises the
the 'avoid lookup if cached ifindex in sk matches' case.
Test used iperf3 via veth interface, lo can't be used due to existing
loopback test.

In the following patch, we no longer assume inet_frag_kill()
callers own a reference.
Consuming two refcounts from inet_frag_kill() would lead in UAF.
Propagate the pointer to the refs that will be consumed later
by the final inet_frag_putn() call.

I got a syzbot report without a repro [1] crashing in nf_send_reset6()
I think the issue is that dev->hard_header_len is zero, and we attempt
later to push an Ethernet header.
Use LL_MAX_HEADER, as other functions in net/ipv6/netfilter/nf_reject_ipv6.c.

This option makes legacy Netfilter Kconfig user selectable, giving users
the option to configure iptables without enabling any other config.
Make the following KConfig entries user selectable:
* BRIDGE_NF_EBTABLES_LEGACY
* IP_NF_ARPTABLES
* IP_NF_IPTABLES_LEGACY
* IP6_NF_IPTABLES_LEGACY

We need to init l3mdev unconditionally, else main routing table is searched
and incorrect result is returned unless strict (iif keyword) matching is
requested.
Next patch adds a selftest for this.
