Pull more liveupdate updates from Mike Rapoport:
"Make boot time huge page allocation work nicely with kexec handover.
Today allocation of gigantic pages in HugeTLB cannot work reliably
with kexec handover (KHO):
- HugeTLB allocates gigantic pages using memblock and autoscaling of
KHO scratch accounts for these allocations. When gigantic pages
occupy half of the memory of more, KHO fails to allocate its
scratch memory.
- After kexec handover, memblock allocations exclusively use KHO
scratch that is not supposed to contain preserved memory. This
essentially blocks preservation of HugeTLB with gigantic pages.
Extend early memory pools available for KHO kernel with areas that are
guaranteed not to contain preserved memory"

than spinning unproductively.

Optimize and fix lockdep tracking for zram devices by consolidating
per-entry lockmaps and isolate lock classes across multiple instances
This reduces memory overhead by replacing per-entry lockdep_map
instances with a single map per struct zram, and assigns a dynamic
lock_class_key to each instance to prevent false deadlock reports
when different zram devices are backed by distinct filesystems.

- Drop BUG_ON() assertions from two functions
While I don't recall any bug reports from either of these assertions
in recent memory, neither of these checks warrant the kernel panic
that could result from BUG_ON(). One of the BUG_ON() calls is
converted to a WARN_ON_ONCE() and the other to a lockdep assertion.
- Fix an audit tree reference counting problem
Fix a corner case where audit could end up unintentionally dropping
the last reference to an audit tree while the tree was still in use.
We should probably revisit the audit tree handling code in full, but
this patch works, and should be easy to backport to stable trees and
downstream kernels.
- Update the audit syscall classification tables
Add some missing syscalls to the PERM class

Pull treewide timer related cleanups from Thomas Gleixner:
- Remove the leftover CLOCK_TICK_RATE which has been scheduled for
removal more than a decade ago along with some now empty asm/timex.h
files.
- Consolidate delay timer calibration
The construct of having a define in a header requires that
architectures provided asm/timex.h for no reason. Also the function
name for reading the delay timer is confusing at best.
Use a config switch to enable that functionality and rename the
function to delay_read_timer() to make the purpose clear.
This removes some more now empty asm/timex.h files as well.

Pull generic entry code updates from Thomas Gleixner:
- Make syscall user dispatching configurable
Not all architectures can makes use of syscall user dispatching.
Allow them to disable the feature completely.
- Consolidate stack randomization for the generic entry code and the
architectures using it.
Stack randomization on syscall entry was sprinkled throughout the
architecture specific low level entry code and in some cases at the
wrong points, e.g. before establishing state, which violates the
non-instrumentable constraints of that code.
Clean this up by integrating stack randomization into the generic
entry code helpers so that it is invoked at the earliest possible
point right after establishing state and converting all generic entry
code using architecture over.
- Clean up the syscall number handling in the generic entry code. It
works correctly for architectures which have a separate return value
storage in pt_regs, but fails to distinguish the case where user
space handed in -1 as syscall number from the case where the entry
code rejects it by returning -1 to the callers. Aside of that the
return value functionality of those interfaces is not really
intuitive.
Fix this by separating the decision to reject a syscall (user
dispatch, ptrace, seccomp ...) from the potential modification of the
syscall number through these mechanisms.
This solves most of the problems for architectures which do not have
a separate return value storage in pt_regs except for the case where
a tracepoint has a BPF script or a probe attached which overwrite
both the syscall number and the return value. But that's a problem
which cannot be solved in the generic code, that only can be
addressed by separating the storage model in the affected
architectures.

Some code, for example clocksource drivers, may want to use the vDSO
clockmode constants even when CONFIG_GENERIC_GETTIMEOFDAY=n.
But the symbols are completely hidden in that case, making ugly
ifdeffery necessary.
Always provide the enum definitions.
As not all architectures provide asm/vdso/clocksource.h,
provide an empty stub in asm-generic for it.

In order to use preempt_count() to track the interrupt disable nesting
level, __preempt_count_{add,sub}_return() are introduced, as their names
suggest, these primitives return the new value of the preempt_count()
after changing it. The following example shows the usage of it in

Unlike mutex and rw_semaphore, qspinlock has no owner field, so "perf
lock contention --lock-owner" cannot attribute a contended spinlock to
its holder. The waiter-side contention_begin event records that a
spinlock is contended, but not by whom. Firing contended_release in the
holder's context at unlock is the only way to capture the holder of a
contended spinlock.
Combine the contention check, trace call and release in an out-of-line
queued_spin_release_traced() so the compiler need not preserve the lock
pointer in a callee-saved register across the call.
The check in queued_spin_unlock() is paid on every unlock, even while
the tracepoint is disabled: a static-branch NOP on x86_64, and a few
more instructions to manage a stack frame elsewhere. Gate it behind
CONFIG_QUEUED_SPINLOCKS_TRACE_CONTENDED_RELEASE (default n) so nobody
pays for a tracepoint they do not use. Sleeping locks fire
contended_release regardless.
On x86 this generic path is used only with PARAVIRT_SPINLOCKS=n (e.g.
defconfig). PARAVIRT_SPINLOCKS=y kernels keep the paravirt static_call
unlock and are wired up separately.
All below are with the QUEUED_SPINLOCKS_TRACE_CONTENDED_RELEASE option
enabled.
_raw_spin_unlock(), x86_64 defconfig, GCC 11, tracepoint compiled in but
disabled. The unlock is the single 'movb'. The only instruction added to
the executed path is the 2-byte static-branch NOP. The CALL to the
traced helper and the JMP back are emitted out of line and are reached
only once the static branch is patched on:

Baseline is the same stream without the NOP and the out-of-line
CALL/JMP: 31 bytes vs 40 (+9 bytes).
Binary size impact on x86_64, defconfig: +680 bytes (+0.00%), since all
standard configs out-of-line unlock. Architectures with inlined unlock
(s390 (always), csky and loongarch (both when !PREEMPTION)) will see a
bigger increase in binary size.
On the same path (x86_64, PARAVIRT_SPINLOCKS=n) with the tracepoint
disabled, a _raw_spin_unlock()-heavy nginx workload [1] shows no
measurable difference between baseline and patched kernels in
throughput, latency, cycles, instructions, IPC, or L1 instruction-cache
misses (kernel and total): all deltas stay within run-to-run noise.
Unlike x86, on arm64 the frame setup code (STP, MOV and LDP) lands on
the executed path in addition to static-branch NOP. Binary size impact
on arm64, defconfig: +932 bytes (+0.00%).
The _raw_spin_unlock()-heavy nginx workload reflects the larger hot
path: L1 instruction-cache misses rise ~1.4% (kernel and total) and
instruction count ~0.4%, consistent with the per-unlock frame.
cpu_cycles, throughput and latency show no measurable change and are
within run-to-run noise.
Architectures with fully custom qspinlock implementations (e.g.
PowerPC) are not covered by this change.

The contended_release tracepoint needs to hook queued_spin_unlock(), but
architectures with a custom unlock define queued_spin_unlock() directly,
leaving no single generic place to add the tracing.
Introduce queued_spin_release() as the arch-overridable release
primitive and make queued_spin_unlock() a generic wrapper around it.
An architecture that only customizes the release can then override
queued_spin_release() and inherit the generic wrapper.
Rename the MIPS override to queued_spin_release() accordingly. x86
paravirt overrides queued_spin_unlock() directly and is left unchanged.
No functional change intended.

Userfaultfd RWP will reuse the uffd-wp PTE bit to mark access-tracking
PTEs, alongside the write-protected ones it already marks. The bit's
meaning now depends on the VMA flag (WP or RWP), not on its name.
Rename the kernel-internal names that describe the bit:
- pte/pmd/huge_pte accessors (and swap variants)
- pgtable_supports_uffd() capability query
- SCAN_PTE_UFFD khugepaged enum
The ftrace string emitted by mm_khugepaged_scan_pmd for this enum is
kept as "pte_uffd_wp" so existing trace-based tooling keeps matching.
Pure mechanical rename -- no behavior change.

Livepatch identifies a duplicate-named symbol by its position (sympos)
among same-named kallsyms entries, which for vmlinux are counted in
ascending address order in the final linked kernel. That order can't be
reliably derived from vmlinux.o: the final link reorders sub-sections
(.text.unlikely*, .data..*, etc).
Bridge the gap with a new .klp.symid section which can be used to
correlate symbols between vmlinux.o and vmlinux so that klp-diff can
reliably determine the sympos.
The table can't survive --gc-sections: keeping it alive would keep every
duplicate-named symbol's section alive, so the reference kernel would
stop matching the one which ships. klp-build rejects
CONFIG_LD_DEAD_CODE_DATA_ELIMINATION instead. Nothing is lost today:
x86_64 is the only HAVE_KLP_BUILD arch and doesn't select
HAVE_LD_DEAD_CODE_DATA_ELIMINATION, arm64 and s390 have never selected
it either, and on powerpc, it's still EXPERIMENTAL and disabled by every
distro kernel.
This is the build-time half of reliable vmlinux sympos computation;
"objtool klp diff" will consume the table in a subsequent commit.

KCSAN reports a data race between page_to_nid()/folio_pgdat() reading
page->flags and folio_trylock()/folio_lock() concurrently doing
test_and_set_bit_lock(PG_locked, ...) on the same word, e.g.:
BUG: KCSAN: data-race in __lruvec_stat_mod_folio / shmem_get_folio_gfp
The race is benign: nid/zone bits are set once at page init and never
overlap with PG_locked. However, ASSERT_EXCLUSIVE_BITS() inside
memdesc_nid/zonenum() was checking a by-value copy of the flags word, not
the live page->flags, so it failed to annotate the real access.
Change memdesc_nid(), memdesc_zonenum(), memdesc_section(), and
memdesc_is_zone_device() to take a const memdesc_flags_t * and update all
callers to pass &page->flags / &folio->flags, so ASSERT_EXCLUSIVE_BITS()
operates on the actual shared word.
Guard the ASSERT_EXCLUSIVE_BITS() call in memdesc_zonenum() under
ZONES_WIDTH != 0 to avoid a zero-mask check on configs where the zone
field is absent. memdesc_section() needs no such guard, since
SECTIONS_WIDTH is never 0 wherever SECTION_IN_PAGE_FLAGS is defined.
Under CONFIG_NUMA=n, memdesc_nid() itself is stubbed to "return 0" instead
of reading page->flags, since NODES_MASK is 0 and the check can never
fire; page_to_nid()/folio_nid() now just call memdesc_nid()
unconditionally and rely on that stub, instead of duplicating the
CONFIG_NUMA split at each call site.

Runtime constify the read-only after init data __futex_shift(shift_32),
__futex_mask(mask_32), and __futex_queues(ptr) used in __futex_hash()
hot path to avoid referencing global variable.
This also allows __futex_queues to be allocated dynamically to
"nr_node_ids" slots instead of reserving config dependent MAX_NUMNODES
(1 << CONFIG_NODES_SHIFT) worth of slots upfront.
Runtime constants are initialized before their first access and
runtime_const_init() provides necessary barrier to ensure subsequent
accesses are not reordered against their initialization.
No functional changes intended.

While the GCC and Clang compilers already define __ASSEMBLER__
automatically when compiling assembly code, __ASSEMBLY__ is a macro that
only gets defined by the Makefiles in the kernel. This can be very
confusing when switching between userspace and kernelspace coding, or when
dealing with uapi headers that rather should use __ASSEMBLER__ instead.
So let's standardize now on the __ASSEMBLER__ macro that is provided by
the compilers.
This is a completely mechanical patch (done with a simple "sed -i"
statement).

The *_bit_le functions use a signed integer for the bit number.
However, the *_bit functions can use an unsigned long. This causes
problems if there is a large bitmap and a bit number > 0x80000000 is
passed in. Since that is a negative int, it will get sign extended to a
long when getting passed to the *_bit function, turning it into a huge
bit number. This usually ends up with the memory address wrapping around
and the function accessing memory before the start of the bitmap.
Avoid this by making the *_bit_le functions take an unsigned long.
This can be triggered by faking an almost 4TB dm-mirror device, which
uses bitmaps to track the mirror regions:
$ dmsetup create bigzero --table '0 8589934590 zero'
$ dmsetup create mymirror --table '0 8589934590 mirror core 2 2 nosync 2 /dev/mapper/bigzero 0 /dev/mapper/bigzero 0'
This will access memory before the start of the sync_bits bitmap, and
likely hit the guard page of the previously allocated clean_bits bitmap,
causing a kernel panic with the old code.
I looked and didn't see any crazy code using the signed int to
intentionally try and access bits before some address within the bitmap.

The header define in asm/timex,h and the naming of the function to read the
delay timer are confusing at best.
Convert it to a config switch selected by the archictures which provide the
functionality and rename the function to delay_read_timer(), which makes
the purpose clear. Move the declaration to linux/delay.h where it belongs.
Remove the resulting empty asm/timex.h files as well.
No functional change.

ptrace_report_syscall_permit_entry()
The return value of that function is boolean and tells the caller whether
to permit the syscall processing or not.
Rename the function so the purpose is clear and make the return type bool.

x86 asm/setup.h includes linux/kexec_handover.h. This is because it is
used by setup.c and kaslr.c. But this inclusion is problematic. The
header is included in many places, so it results in the KHO header being
propagated there. Also, the setup header is used by realmode code. If
KHO header includes things like mm.h, it causes a big dump of
compilation failures.
Nothing in setup.h uses anything from KHO. Remove the header from
setup.h, and directly include it in setup.c. which does use things from
KHO. Since kaslr.c is a part of the decompressor, avoid including linux
headers there directly. Instead, split out struct kho_scratch, which is
the only thing the kaslr.c uses, and move it to
include/asm-generic/kexec_handover.h.
This should also help reduce files recompiled when kexec_handover.h
changes.

Add missing file metadata syscalls to the audit PERM class tables,
addressing gaps where certain file operations were not properly
classified for audit rule matching.
Changes:
- audit_change_attr.h: Add file_setattr
- audit_read.h: Add quotactl_fd, file_getattr, stat, stat64, lstat,
lstat64, fstat, fstat64, newfstatat, fstatat64, and statx
- audit_write.h: Add quotactl_fd
Architecture-specific and conditionally-compiled syscalls are guarded
with #ifdef.

"The robust futex unlock mechanism is racy in respect to the
clearing of the robust_list_head::list_op_pending pointer because
unlock and clearing the pointer are not atomic.
The race window is between the unlock and clearing the pending op
pointer. If the task is forced to exit in this window, exit will
access a potentially invalid pending op pointer when cleaning up
the robust list.
That happens if another task manages to unmap the object
containing the lock before the cleanup, which results in an UAF.
In the worst case this UAF can lead to memory corruption when
unrelated content has been mapped to the same address by the time
the access happens.
User space can't solve this problem without help from the kernel.
This series provides the kernel side infrastructure to help it
along:
1) Combined unlock, pointer clearing, wake-up for the
contended case
2) VDSO based unlock and pointer clearing helpers with a
fix-up function in the kernel when user space was interrupted
within the critical section.

raw_res_spin_unlock_irqrestore() calls raw_res_spin_unlock() and then
restores interrupts, this means preemption is enabled when interrupts
are still disabled (as part of raw_res_spin_unlock()) so this cannot
trigger an actual preemption.
This is inconsistent with other spinlock implementations
(raw_spin_unlock_irqrestore() and bpf_res_spin_unlock_irqrestore()
itself).
Adjust the macro to ensure interrupts are enabled before enabling
preemption, allowing to schedule at that point. Make the same
modification in the error path of raw_res_spin_lock_irqsave().

The CONFIG_PROPELLER_CLANG option currently depends on
ARCH_SUPPORTS_PROPELLER_CLANG, but this dependency seems unnecessary.
Remove ARCH_SUPPORTS_PROPELLER_CLANG and allow users to control
Propeller builds solely through CONFIG_PROPELLER_CLANG. This simplifies
the kconfig and avoids potential confusion.
Move the .llvm_bb_addr_map sections grouping to
include/asm-generic/vmlinux.lds.h.
The Propeller documentation has been updated to reflect the most
recent tool location and now includes instructions for arm64.

Slapping __percpu_qual into the next available header is sloppy at best.
It's required by __percpu which is defined in compiler_types.h and that is
meant to be included without requiring a boatload of other headers so that
a struct or function declaration can contain a __percpu qualifier w/o
further prerequisites.
This implicit dependency on linux/percpu.h makes that impossible and causes
a major problem when trying to separate headers.
Create asm/percpu_types.h and move it there. Include that from
compiler_types.h and the whole recursion problem goes away.
Fix up UM so it uses the generic header and includes it in the UM_HOST
build, which pulls in compiler_types.h. The USER_CFLAGS fix was suggested
by Richard.

For CONFIG_NR_CPUS < 16K, _Q_PENDING_BITS is 8 and the pending
field occupies bits 8-15 of the lock word. The current comment
documents bit 8 as pending and bits 9-15 as unused, which describes
the pending flag value rather than the field layout.
Describe bits 8-15 as the pending byte so the layout description
is consistent with the lock byte.

The kernel allows arches to select between inline and outline
implementations of the copy_{from,to}_user() by defining individual
INLINE_COPY_FROM_USER and INLINE_COPY_TO_USER, correspondingly. However,
all arches enable or disable them always together.
Without the real use-case for one helper being inlined while the other
outlined, having independent controls is excessive and error prone.
Switch the codebase to the single unified INLINE_COPY_USER control.

Page tables are always accessed via the linear mapping with a match-all
tag, so HW-tag KASAN never checks them. For page-allocated tables (PTEs
and PGDs etc), avoid the tag setup and poisoning overhead by using
__GFP_SKIP_KASAN. SLUB-backed page tables are unchanged for now. (They
aren't widely used and require more SLUB related skip logic. Leave it
later.)

On real hardware, panic and machine reboot may not flush hardware cache
to memory. This means the persistent ring buffer, which relies on a
coherent state of memory, may not have its events written to the buffer
and they may be lost. Moreover, there may be inconsistency with the
counters which are used for validation of the integrity of the
persistent ring buffer which may cause all data to be discarded.
To avoid this issue, stop recording of the ring buffer on panic and
flush the cache of the ring buffer's memory.

When kprobe_add_area_blacklist() iterates through a section like
.kprobes.text, the start address may not correspond to a named symbol.
On ARM64 with CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_CALL_OPS=y (introduced by
commit baaf553d3bc3 ("arm64: Implement
HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_CALL_OPS")), the compiler flag
-fpatchable-function-entry=4,2 inserts 2 NOPs before each function entry
point for ftrace call_ops. These pre-function NOPs sit at the section base
address, before the first named function symbol. The compiler emits a $x
mapping symbol at offset 0x00 to mark the start of code, but
find_kallsyms_symbol() ignores mapping symbols.
Without CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_CALL_OPS (e.g. defconfig), no
pre-function NOPs are inserted, the first function starts at offset
0x00, and the bug does not trigger.
This only affects modules that have a .kprobes.text section (i.e. those
using the __kprobes annotation). Modules using NOKPROBE_SYMBOL() instead
(like kretprobe_example.ko) blacklist exact function addresses via the
_kprobe_blacklist section and are not affected.
For kprobe_example.ko on ARM64 with -fpatchable-function-entry=4,2,
the .kprobes.text section layout is:
offset 0x00: $x + 2 NOPs (mapping symbol + ftrace preamble)
offset 0x08: handler_post (64 bytes)
offset 0x50: handler_pre (68 bytes)
kprobe_add_area_blacklist() starts iterating from the section base
address (offset 0x00), which only has the $x mapping symbol.
kprobe_add_ksym_blacklist() then calls kallsyms_lookup_size_offset()
for this address, which goes through:
kallsyms_lookup_size_offset()
-> module_address_lookup()
-> find_kallsyms_symbol()
find_kallsyms_symbol() scans all module symbols to find the closest
preceding symbol.
Since no named text symbol exists at offset 0x00,
find_kallsyms_symbol() picks __UNIQUE_ID_vermagic (a .modinfo symbol
whose address is in the temporary image) as the "best" match. The
computed "size" = next_text_symbol - modinfo_symbol spans across
these two unrelated memory regions, creating a blacklist entry with
a bogus range of tens of terabytes.
Whether this causes a visible failure depends on address randomization,
here is what happens on Raspberry Pi 4/5:
- On RPi5, the bogus size was ~35 TB. start + size stayed within
64-bit range, so the blacklist entry covered the entire kernel
text. register_kprobe() in the module's own init function failed
with -EINVAL.
- On RPi4, the bogus size was ~75 TB. start + size overflowed
64 bits and wrapped to a small address near zero. The range
check (addr >= start && addr < end) then failed because end
wrapped around, so the bogus entry was accidentally harmless
and kprobes worked by luck.
The same bug exists on both machines, but randomization determines whether
the integer overflow masks it or not.
Fix this by adding notrace to the __kprobes macro. Functions in
.kprobes.text are kprobe infrastructure handlers that should never be
traced by ftrace. With notrace, the compiler stops inserting them and the
non-symbol gap at the section start disappears entirely.

After a kexec the logical processors and virtual processors already
exist in the hypervisor because they were created by the previous
kernel. Attempting to add them again causes either a BUG_ON or
corrupted VP state leading to MCEs in the new kernel.
Add hv_lp_exists() to probe whether an LP is already present by
calling HVCALL_GET_LOGICAL_PROCESSOR_RUN_TIME. When it succeeds the
LP exists and we skip the add-LP and create-VP loops entirely.
Also add hv_call_notify_all_processors_started() which informs the
hypervisor that all processors are online. This is required after
adding LPs (fresh boot) and is a no-op on kexec since we skip that
path.

"The XOR library used for the RAID5 parity is a bit of a mess right
now. The main file sits in crypto/ despite not being cryptography
and not using the crypto API, with the generic implementations
sitting in include/asm-generic and the arch implementations
sitting in an asm/ header in theory. The latter doesn't work for
many cases, so architectures often build the code directly into
the core kernel, or create another module for the architecture
code.
Change this to a single module in lib/ that also contains the
architecture optimizations, similar to the library work Eric
Biggers has done for the CRC and crypto libraries later. After
that it changes to better calling conventions that allow for
smarter architecture implementations (although none is contained
here yet), and uses static_call to avoid indirection function call

"Kernel symbol flags:
- Replace the separate *_gpl symbol sections (__ksymtab_gpl and
__kcrctab_gpl) with a unified symbol table and a new __kflagstab
section.
This section stores symbol flags, such as the GPL-only flag, as an
8-bit bitset for each exported symbol. This is a cleanup that
simplifies symbol lookup in the module loader by avoiding table
fragmentation and will allow a cleaner way to add more flags later
if needed.
Module signature UAPI:
- Move struct module_signature to the UAPI headers to allow reuse by
tools outside the kernel proper, such as kmod and
scripts/sign-file.
This also renames a few constants for clarity and drops unused
signature types as preparation for hash-based module integrity
checking work that's in progress.
Sysfs:
- Add a /sys/module/<module>/import_ns sysfs attribute to show the
symbol namespaces imported by loaded modules.
This makes it easier to verify driver API access at runtime on
systems that care about such things (e.g. Android).
Cleanups and fixes:
- Force sh_addr to 0 for all sections in module.lds. This prevents
non-zero section addresses when linking modules with 'ld.bfd -r',
which confused elfutils.
- Fix a memory leak of charp module parameters on module unload when
the kernel is configured with CONFIG_SYSFS=n.
- Override the -EEXIST error code returned by module_init() to
userspace. This prevents confusion with the errno reserved by the
module loader to indicate that a module is already loaded.
- Simplify the warning message and drop the stack dump on positive
returns from module_init().
- Drop unnecessary extern keywords from function declarations and
synchronize parse_args() arguments with their implementation"
