IPQ5424 has more BM ports than IPQ9574, so the BM used, reacted and
overflow-drop counter tables have more entries on IPQ5424, and the used
and reacted counter tables are located at different addresses. The BM
silent-drop counter table on the other hand has only 4 entries on IPQ5424,
versus 8 on IPQ9574.

Multicast queues are dedicated per PPE port. IPQ5424 has only 3 physical

IPQ5424 integrates the same PPE switch core as IPQ9574, but has only 3
Ethernet ports plus the EDMA FIFO, without the EIP FIFO. The PPE clock runs
at 375 MHz instead of IPQ9574's 353 MHz, and IPQ5424 requires a different,

PPE queues 0-255 are unicast queues and queues from 256 onwards are
multicast queues. The multicast queue configuration table has its own
index, starting from 0 for the first multicast queue, and each entry
has 3 words.
The driver uses the absolute queue ID as the index of this table, which
is out of range for every multicast queue. As a result, the multicast
queue thresholds are never configured, and unrelated QM registers are
written instead. The driver also accesses 5 words per entry instead
of 3.
Fix it by converting the queue ID to the index of the multicast queue
configuration table and accessing only the 3 words of the entry.

rmnet_fill_info() used rmnet_get_port_rtnl(), and thus required
RTNL.
Now that priv->mux_id and port->data_format are properly
annotated, rmnet_fill_info() can simply fetch the port under
rcu_read_lock().
rmnet_get_port_rcu() was only used from the data path and thus
used rcu_dereference_bh(). Relax its lockdep condition so that it
can also be called from process context under a plain
rcu_read_lock(), and use it from rmnet_fill_info().
Note that rmnet_get_port_rcu() checks real_dev->rx_handler before
returning rx_handler_data: this is what makes the lockless lookup
safe against rmnet_unregister_real_device(), which clears
rx_handler, waits for a grace period in
netdev_rx_handler_unregister(), and only then frees the port.

priv->mux_id is written under RTNL from rmnet_vnd_newlink() and
rmnet_changelink(), but rmnet_egress_handler() reads it from the
transmit path without any lock.
Likewise ep->mux_id is written under RTNL from rmnet_changelink(),
while rmnet_get_endpoint() reads it from the receive path under
RCU only.
Add the missing READ_ONCE()/WRITE_ONCE() annotations.
While at it, publish ep->mux_id before inserting the endpoint in
its new bucket in rmnet_changelink(). Otherwise a concurrent

port->data_format is written under RTNL from rmnet_newlink() and
rmnet_changelink(), but it is read from the data path without any
lock, both from RX (rmnet_rx_handler() context) and TX
(rmnet_egress_handler() context).
Note that rmnet_newlink() can be called for a real_dev which is
already hooked to rmnet: the rx_handler is live and traffic can
already be flowing when port->data_format is overwritten.
Add the missing READ_ONCE()/WRITE_ONCE() annotations.
While at it, sample port->data_format only once per packet and pass
the value down, so that all the decisions taken for a given packet
are based on a single consistent value.
Otherwise the two ends of a packet transformation could disagree.
On TX, rmnet_map_egress_handler() sized the headroom from one read
while rmnet_map_add_map_header() decided on MAP_NEXT_HEADER_FLAG
from another one, so a concurrent rmnet_changelink() could produce
a MAP header announcing a v5 csum header that was neither reserved
nor written. On RX, rmnet_map_validate_packet_len() and
__rmnet_map_ingress_handler() could likewise disagree on the
expected layout, and rmnet_map_send_ack() could trim a dl csum
trailer that the ingress path never accounted for.
rmnet_map_add_map_header(), rmnet_map_command(),
rmnet_map_deaggregate(), rmnet_map_send_ack(),
rmnet_map_validate_packet_len() and __rmnet_map_ingress_handler()
therefore get the value from their caller instead of re-reading it.
rmnet_changelink() now computes the new value in a local variable
and publishes it with a single store, instead of letting the data
path observe the intermediate (old_data_format & ~flags->mask)
value.
rmnet_vnd_headroom() is left alone, all its callers hold RTNL.

config ops
An rmnet device may be created with its real device in a different
netns than the rmnet device itself (rmnet_newlink() resolves it in
link_net), and the config paths below only check CAP_NET_ADMIN against
dev_net(dev), while mutating rmnet port state attached to the real
device:
- rmnet_changelink() rewrites the endpoint mux table and
port->data_format and, via rmnet_vnd_update_dev_mtu(), can shrink the
MTU of the rmnet endpoint netdevs.
- rmnet_add_bridge() and rmnet_del_bridge(), reachable via
ndo_add_slave/ndo_del_slave through RTM_SETLINK IFLA_MASTER, flip
port->rmnet_mode and port->bridge_ep on the real device's port; with
bridge_ep pointing at a caller-owned device, rmnet_rx_handler() then
forwards real-device ingress frames to it.
- rmnet_set_coalesce() rewrites the port aggregation parameters via
ETHTOOL_SCOALESCE (ioctl) or ETHTOOL_MSG_COALESCE_SET (netlink),
whose capability checks likewise only cover dev's netns.
A caller privileged only in the rmnet device's netns can therefore
rewrite the shared cellular data-path state owned by another netns, and
steer its ingress traffic.
Gate the rtnl paths with rtnl_dev_link_net_capable(), matching the
"require CAP_NET_ADMIN in the device netns for changelink" series
(vxlan/geneve, CVE-2026-68432), and gate the ethtool setter with
ns_capable() in the real device netns, mirroring the check dev_ethtool()
already applies to dev's netns. Report the new rejections through
extack where one is available.
The gates cover the configuration paths only. Teardown (RTM_DELLINK
reaching rmnet_dellink(), and rmnet_config_notify_cb() unregistering
the bridge when the slave device is deleted) is intentionally left
ungated: link deletion is normal netdev lifecycle behaviour, and the
changelink series this matches (vxlan/geneve, CVE-2026-68432) gated
only the configuration paths.

rmnet_map_deaggregate() allocates each sub-frame with alloc_skb() and
leaves skb->dev NULL. __rmnet_map_ingress_handler() assigns
skb->dev = ep->egress_dev only on the data path, but a MAP command frame
is dispatched to rmnet_map_command() before that, so rmnet_map_send_ack()
runs netif_tx_lock(skb->dev) on a NULL device. An unprivileged user
reaches this by unsharing a user+net namespace, creating an rmnet link
over a tap device with INGRESS_DEAGGREGATION and INGRESS_MAP_COMMANDS,
and writing an aggregated frame carrying a flow-control command to the
tap fd.
Restore the assignment dropped by 378e25357ac7, so every skb leaving
rmnet_map_deaggregate() has a valid device.

rmnet_get_endpoint() is shared by packet receive paths and
RTNL-protected control paths. The receive paths already run under RCU/BH
context through the RX handler, while the control paths reach
rmnet_get_endpoint() after obtaining the rmnet port with
rmnet_get_port_rtnl().
The helper walks port->muxed_ep[] with hlist_for_each_entry_rcu(). Pass
lockdep_rtnl_is_held() as the non-RCU protection condition so
CONFIG_PROVE_RCU_LIST can see the RTNL-protected control-path calls
while preserving the existing RCU-reader behavior for data paths.
This was found by our static analysis tool and then manually reviewed
against the current tree. The dynamic triage evidence is a
target-matched CONFIG_PROVE_RCU_LIST warning; the change is limited
to documenting the existing protection contract.
This is a lockdep annotation cleanup. It does not change endpoint
lifetime or hash updates.

When ingress deaggregation is disabled, rmnet_map_ingress_handler() passes
the skb straight to __rmnet_map_ingress_handler(), skipping the length

qca_tty_receive() consumes each input byte before checking whether a
completed frame needs a fresh receive skb. When the current byte completes
a frame, the driver delivers that frame and then allocates a new skb for
the next one.
If that allocation fails, the current code returns i even though data[i]
has already been consumed and may already have completed the delivered
frame. Since serdev interprets the return value as the number of accepted
bytes, this under-reports progress by one byte and can replay the final
byte of the completed frame into a fresh parser state on the next call.
Return i + 1 in that failure path so the accepted-byte count matches the
actual receive-state progress.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

The PPE hardware counters maintain counters for packets handled by the
various functional blocks of PPE. They help in tracing the packets
passed through PPE and debugging any packet drops.
The counters displayed by this debugfs file are ones that are common
for all Ethernet ports, and they do not include the counters that are
specific for a MAC port. Hence they cannot be displayed using ethtool.
The per-MAC counters will be supported using "ethtool -S" along with
the netdevice driver.
The PPE hardware various type counters are made available through the
debugfs files under directory "/sys/kernel/debug/ppe/".

Initialize the L2 bridge settings for the PPE ports to only enable
L2 frame forwarding between CPU port and PPE Ethernet ports.
The per-port L2 bridge settings are initialized as follows:
For PPE CPU port, the PPE bridge TX is enabled and FDB learning is
disabled. For PPE physical ports, the default L2 forwarding action
is initialized to forward to CPU port only.
L2/FDB learning and forwarding will not be enabled for PPE physical
ports yet, since the port's VSI (Virtual Switch Instance) and VSI
membership are not yet configured, which are required for FDB
forwarding. The VSI and FDB forwarding will later be enabled when
switchdev is enabled.

PPE's packet processing stages, as per the network functions required

For packet being sent out by ARM cores on Ethernet ports, The service

to bypass most of packet processing stages of the PPE before the packet

There are 4 net namespaces involved when creating links:
- source netns - where the netlink socket resides,
- target netns - where to put the device being created,
- link netns - netns associated with the device (backend),
- peer netns - netns of peer device.
Currently, two nets are passed to newlink() callback - "src_net"
parameter and "dev_net" (implicitly in net_device). They are set as
follows, depending on netlink attributes in the request.
+------------+-------------------+---------+---------+
| peer netns | IFLA_LINK_NETNSID | src_net | dev_net |
+------------+-------------------+---------+---------+
| | absent | source | target |
| absent +-------------------+---------+---------+
| | present | link | link |
+------------+-------------------+---------+---------+
| | absent | peer | target |
| present +-------------------+---------+---------+
| | present | peer | link |
+------------+-------------------+---------+---------+
When IFLA_LINK_NETNSID is present, the device is created in link netns
first and then moved to target netns. This has some side effects,
including extra ifindex allocation, ifname validation and link events.
These could be avoided if we create it in target netns from
the beginning.
On the other hand, the meaning of src_net parameter is ambiguous. It
varies depending on how parameters are passed. It is the effective
link (or peer netns) by design, but some drivers ignore it and use
dev_net instead.
To provide more netns context for drivers, this patch packs existing
newlink() parameters, along with the source netns, link netns and peer
netns, into a struct. The old "src_net" is renamed to "net" to avoid
confusion with real source netns, and will be deprecated later. The use
of src_net are converted to params->net trivially.

The module parameter qcaspi_pluggable controls if QCA7000 signature

this could fail in case the chip is temporary in reset, which isn't under

Storing the maximum clock speed in module parameter qcaspi_clkspeed
has the unintended side effect that the first probed instance
defines the value for all other instances. Fix this issue by storing
it in max_speed_hz of the relevant SPI device.
This fix keeps the priority of the speed parameter (module parameter,
device tree property, driver default). Btw this uses the opportunity
to get the rid of the unused member clkspeed.

The commit 92717c2356cb ("net: qca_spi: Avoid high load if QCA7000 is not

but introduced sync delays for some corner cases like buffer errors.
So add the reset requests to the atomics flags, which are polled by
the SPI thread. As a result reset requests and sync state are now
separated. This has the nice benefit to make the code easier to

To prepare for constifying the following old driver core API:
struct device *device_find_child(struct device *dev, void *data,
int (*match)(struct device *dev, void *data));
to new:
struct device *device_find_child(struct device *dev, const void *data,
int (*match)(struct device *dev, const void *data));
The new API does not allow its match function (*match)() to modify
caller's match data @*data, but emac_sgmii_acpi_match(), as the old
API's match function, indeed modifies relevant match data, so it is
not suitable for the new API any more, solved by implementing the same
finding sgmii_ops function by correcting the function and using it
as parameter of device_for_each_child() instead of device_find_child().
By the way, this commit does not change any existing logic.
