Add a pointer to const struct v4l2_subdev_client_info to the get_fmt,
set_fmt, get_selection and set_selection sub-device pad ops. The client
info struct will soon be used to differentiate UAPI based on client
capabilities.

csi2dc_of_parse() ends up calling csi2dc_prepare_notifier(), which
registers the V4L2 async notifier with v4l2_async_nf_register(). The
probe error label csi2dc_probe_cleanup_notifier is reached after
csi2dc_of_parse() has already succeeded (e.g. when media entity init,
csi2dc_power() or v4l2_async_register_subdev() fail), but it calls only
v4l2_async_nf_cleanup() and never v4l2_async_nf_unregister().
The notifier therefore stays chained in the global notifier_list while
the enclosing struct csi2dc_device is freed, leading to list corruption
and a use-after-free when the list is next walked.
Unregister the notifier before cleaning it up on the error path,
matching the teardown already done in csi2dc_remove().

isc_clk_is_enabled() calls pm_runtime_resume_and_get() and
pm_runtime_put_sync(), which can sleep and are not safe here, as
.is_enabled must run in atomic context. clk_disable_unused() calls it so
at boot, and CONFIG_DEBUG_ATOMIC_SLEEP reports a "sleeping function
called from invalid context" BUG.
Use the atomic-safe pm_runtime_get_if_active() and pm_runtime_put()
instead. A suspended ISC has its clocks gated, so report the clock
disabled when the device is not already active.

pfe_cfg0_bps held a pre-shifted BPS value (ISC_PFE_CFG0_BPS_EIGHT was

like cfa_baycfg store the bare field value and position it at the write,
so this one was inconsistent.

isc_s_awb_ctrl() called isc_update_awb_ctrls() unconditionally, writing
the white balance registers even when the device is runtime suspended;
on many ARM platforms accessing the unclocked registers is an external
abort. The write was also done without awb_lock, racing isc_awb_work(),
which holds it so the DMA done IRQ cannot latch a half-updated pipeline.
Write the registers only while streaming and not stopping, under
awb_lock, and update the profile there. The isc->stop check covers the
window where isc_stop_streaming() has gated the clocks but vb2 still
reports streaming. Otherwise the new values stay cached and
isc_configure() programs them at the next stream start.

isc_stop_streaming() and the isc_start_streaming() error path dropped the
runtime PM reference with the histogram still enabled. A HISDONE firing
just before the stop, or a failed isc_update_profile() on the start path,
can queue isc_awb_work(), which reads the histogram registers before
taking its own PM reference and faults on the unclocked device.
Disable the histogram, synchronize the IRQ and flush the work before the
device is left unclocked. isc_configure() is the one enabling the
histogram and then calling isc_update_profile(), so do the cleanup in its
own failure path; isc_stop_streaming() does the same on teardown.
synchronize_irq() must come before cancel_work_sync(), so an in-flight
handler cannot re-queue awb_work after it is cancelled.

isc_stop_streaming() masks the DMA interrupt and then drops the runtime
PM reference, which disables the ISC clocks. microchip_isc_interrupt()
may still be executing on another CPU at that point; it reads ISC_INTSR
over regmap, and touching the unclocked registers triggers an external
abort.
Store the IRQ number at probe and call synchronize_irq() after masking
the interrupt, before dropping the PM reference.

for_each_endpoint_of_node() drops the reference on the current node as
it advances. xisc_parse_dt() and isc_parse_dt() store the node in
subdev_entity->epn and release it later with of_node_put(), but never
took their own reference, so the stored pointer refers to an
already-released node. This underflows the refcount and can
use-after-free, reachable through the camera device tree overlay.
Take a reference with of_node_get() when storing the node, and drop it
in microchip_isc_subdev_cleanup() so the entities the bind loop never
reaches on an early exit do not leak it.

isc->lock and awb_mutex were initialised in isc_async_complete() and
destroyed in isc_async_unbind(), tying their lifetime to the subdev
bind/unbind cycle instead of the device:
- isc_async_unbind() destroyed awb_mutex before cancel_work_sync(),
which takes it;
- a failed .complete() left them initialised, and isc->lock was
destroyed only on the .complete() error path, so the normal unbind
path leaked it;
- a rebind runs .complete() again and reinitialises a live mutex.
Initialise both with devm_mutex_init() at probe so they live for the
whole device lifetime and are freed at remove, and drop the init and
destroy from the .complete()/.unbind() callbacks.
isc_async_complete_err then only returned ret, so drop the label and
return directly at each error site.

Since commit 88785982a19d ("media: vb2: use lock if wait_prepare/finish
are NULL") it is no longer needed to set the wait_prepare/finish
vb2_ops callbacks as long as the lock field in vb2_queue is set.
Since the vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finish callbacks already rely on that field,
we can safely drop these callbacks.
This simplifies the code and this is a step towards the goal of deleting
these callbacks.

device link, we can just drop the v4l2_subdev_link_validate() to avoid

The isc_try_fse() function, called from isc_validate(), takes two
parameters, an isc_device pointer, and a v4l2_subdev_state pointer. The
isc_device is accessed but not modified by the function. The state is
modified, including the struct v4l2_subdev_pad_config array it points
to, but they are then never used by the caller. Furthermore, the V4L2
subdev operation called by isc_try_fse() doesn't modify the subdev it is
called on. The isc_try_fse() function has thus no effect, and can just

The subdev .init_cfg() operation is affected by two issues:
- It has long been extended to initialize a whole v4l2_subdev_state
instead of just a v4l2_subdev_pad_config, but its name has stuck
around.
- Despite operating on a whole subdev state and not being directly
exposed to the subdev users (either in-kernel or through the userspace
API), .init_cfg() is categorized as a subdev pad operation.
This participates in making the subdev API confusing for new developers.
Fix it by renaming the operation to .init_state(), and make it a subdev
internal operation.

Set the v4l2_device already in async notifier init, so struct device
related to it will be available before the notifier is registered. This
requires separating notifier initialisation into two functions, one that
takes v4l2_device as its argument, v4l2_async_nf_init and
v4l2_async_subdev_nf_init, for sub-device notifiers. Registering the
notifier will use a single function, v4l2_async_nf_register.
This is done in order to make struct device available earlier, during
construction of the async connections, for sensible debug prints.

Rename v4l2_async_subdev as v4l2_async_connection, in order to
differentiate between the sub-devices and their connections: one
sub-device can have many connections but the V4L2 async framework has so
far allowed just a single one. Connections in this context will later
translate into either MC ancillary or data links.
This patch prepares changing that relation by changing existing users of
v4l2_async_subdev to switch to v4l2_async_connection. Async sub-devices
themselves will not be needed anymore
Additionally, __v4l2_async_nf_add_subdev() has been renamed
__v4l2_async_nf_add_connection().

Structures passed to subdev pad operations are all zero-initialized when
declaring variables. In most cases, this is done with designated
initializers to initialize some of the fields to specific values, but in
a minority of cases the structures are zero-initialized by assigning
them to '{ 0 }' or '{ }'.
Improve coding style consistency by using designated initializers where
possible, always initializing the 'which' field.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored
and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a
quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this
quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns
void.

As a top MC video driver, the microchip-isc should not propagate the format
to the subdevice, it should rather check at start_streaming() time if the
subdev is properly configured with a compatible format.
Removed the whole format finding logic, and reworked the format
verification at start_streaming time, such that the ISC will return an
error if the subdevice is not properly configured.
To achieve this, media_pipeline_start is called and a link_validate
callback is created to check the formats.
With this being done, the module parameter 'sensor_preferred' makes no
sense anymore. The ISC should not decide which format the sensor is using.
The ISC should only cope with the situation and inform userspace if the
streaming is possible in the current configuration.
The redesign of the format propagation has also risen the question of the
enumfmt callback. If enumfmt is called with an mbus_code, the enumfmt
handler should only return the formats that are supported for this
mbus_code. Otherwise, the enumfmt will report all the formats that the ISC
could output.
With this rework, the dynamic list of user formats is removed. It makes no
more sense to identify at complete time which formats the sensor could
emit, and add those into a separate dynamic list.
The ISC will start with a simple preconfigured default format, and at
link validate time, decide whether it can use the format that is
configured on the sink or not.

Prepare the support for media-controller.
This means that the capabilities of the driver have changed and now it's
capable of media controller operations.
The driver will register its media device, and add the video entity to this
media device. The subdevices are registered to the same media device.
The ISC will have a base entity which is auto-detected as
microchip_isc_base.
It will also register a subdevice that allows cropping of the incoming
frame to the maximum frame size supported by the ISC.
The ISC will create a link between the subdevice that is asynchronously
registered and the microchip_isc_scaler entity.
Then, the microchip_isc_scaler and microchip_isc_base are connected
through another link.
This patch does not change the previous capability of the driver, the
fact that the format is still being propagated from the top video node
down to the sensor.

The Atmel ISC driver will be moved to staging to support old users that
are not using the media controller paradigm.
The ISC driver was converted to media controller in the public patch
series:
https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/20220503095127.48710-1-eugen.hristev@microchip.com/T/#m2c320fa8153c01379a1c35b1d90a00903949513a
However the conversion cannot be done directly as it would affect existing
users by breaking the old way of configuration for sama5d2 platforms.
After discussions with the media maintainers, the decision is to move
Atmel ISC to staging as-is, to keep the Kconfig symbols and the users
to the driver in staging. Thus, all the existing users of the non
media-controller paradigm will continue to be happy and use the old config
way.
The converted driver would support both sama5d2 and sama7g5 platforms with
media controller paradigm, but it requires userspace configuration of the
pipeline for all the pipeline modules.
In a simple configuration sensor ==> isc , the old isc driver used to call
subdev s_fmt and control the sensor directly.
This was achieved by having a lot of code inside the driver that was
querying the subdev at probe time and made a list of formats which are
usable.
Basically the user had nothing to configure, as the isc would handle
everything at the top level. This was an easy way to capture, but also came
with the drawback of lack of flexibility.
In a more complicated pipeline
sensor ==> controller 1 ==> controller 2 ==> isc
this would not be achievable, as controller 1 and controller 2 might be
media-controller configurable, and will not propagate the formats down to
the sensor.
The new driver Microchip ISC would solve all these problems and exposes pads
entities and links to userspace.
For the ease of tracking, the patches that convert to media controller come
on top of this patch that simply readds the driver to the new location under
the new Kconfig symbols.
To differentiate between the old driver and the new driver, I have renamed
the new driver to Microchip ISC, renaming the Kconfig symbols as well, and
all the mentions inside the driver.
The only thing that remains common is the file
include/linux/atmel-isc-media.h which is the ABI for the v4l2 custom
controls that the ISC exposes.
This file is used by both driver, so I kept it as-is.
To further avoid confusion all files have been renamed and all functions
named isc_* as well.
The exported symbols have been renamed with added microchip_ prefix, to
avoid symbol duplication with the old driver, and to avoid confusion.
Other than that, I have fixed small checkpatch issues when readding the
driver.

The Atmel ISC will be moved to staging thus the atmel platform will only
have the ISI driver.
The new media-controller converted ISC driver will be placed inside a
dedicated microchip platform directory.
It is then natural to have the microchip-csi2dc moved to this new platform
directory.
The next step is to add the Microchip ISC driver to the new platform
directory and reside together with the Microchip CSI2DC driver.
