2026-07-05iio: imu: inv_icm42600: fix timestamping by limiting FIFO readingJean-Baptiste Maneyrol
Timestamps are made by measuring the chip clock using the watermark interrupts. If we read more than watermark samples as done today, we are reducing the period between interrupts and distort the time measurement. Fix that by reading only watermark samples in the interrupt case. While being less compact, using named initializers allows to more easily see which members of the structs are assigned which value without having to lookup the declaration of the struct. And it's also more robust against changes to the struct definition. The mentioned robustness is relevant for a planned change to struct spi_device_id that replaces .driver_data by an anonymous union. This patch doesn't modify the compiled arrays, only their representation in source form benefits. The former was confirmed with x86 and arm64 builds. When we are switching odr and turning buffer off just afterward, we are losing the FIFO ODR change flag and ODR switch is blocked. Fix the issue by force applying any waiting ODR change when turning buffer off. When we are switching to the same odr value, we end up waiting for a FIFO ODR flag that is never happening. Fix the issue by doing nothing and exiting properly when we are switching to the same ODR value. 2025-09-10iio: imu: inv_icm42600: Simplify pm_runtime setupSean Nyekjaer
Rework the power management in inv_icm42600_core_probe() to use devm_pm_runtime_set_active_enabled(), which simplifies the runtime PM setup by handling activation and enabling in one step. Remove the separate inv_icm42600_disable_pm callback, as it's no longer needed with the devm-managed approach. Using devm_pm_runtime_enable() also fixes the missing disable of autosuspend. Update inv_icm42600_disable_vddio_reg() to only disable the regulator if the device is not suspended i.e. powered-down, preventing unbalanced disables. Also remove redundant error msg on regulator_disable(), the regulator framework already emits an error message when regulator_disable() fails. This simplifies the PM setup and avoids manipulating the usage counter unnecessarily. 2025-08-11iio: imu: inv_icm42600: change invalid data error to -EBUSYJean-Baptiste Maneyrol
Temperature sensor returns the temperature of the mechanical parts of the chip. If both accel and gyro are off, the temperature sensor is also automatically turned off and returns invalid data. In this case, returning -EBUSY error code is better then -EINVAL and indicates userspace that it needs to retry reading temperature in another context. 2025-07-14iio: imu: inv_icm42600: reorganize DMA aligned buffers in structureJean-Baptiste Maneyrol
Move all DMA aligned buffers together at the end of the structure. 1. Timestamp anynomous structure is not used with DMA so it doesn't belong after __aligned(IIO_DMA_MINALIGN). 2. struct inv_icm42600_fifo contains it's own __aligned(IIO_DMA_MINALIGN) within it at the end so it should not be after __aligned(IIO_DMA_MINALIGN) in the outer struct either. 3. Normally 1 would have been considered a bug, but because of the extra alignment from 2, it actually was OK, but we shouldn't be relying on such quirks. 2025-04-22iio: normalize array sentinel styleDavid Lechner
Use `\t(\{ ?\},|\{\}|\{\s*/\*.*\*/\s*\},?)$` regex to find and replace the array sentinel in all IIO drivers to the same style. For some time, we've been trying to consistently use `{ }` (no trailing comma, no comment, one space between braces) for array sentinels in the IIO subsystem. Still nearly 50% of existing code uses a different style. To save reviewers from having to request this trivial change as frequently, let's normalize the style in all existing IIO drivers. At least when code is copy/pasted to new drivers, the style will be consistent. When multiple ODR switch happens during FIFO off, the change could not be taken into account if you get back to previous FIFO on value. For example, if you run sensor buffer at 50Hz, stop, change to 200Hz, then back to 50Hz and restart buffer, data will be timestamped at 200Hz. This due to testing against mult and not new_mult. To prevent this, let's just run apply_odr automatically when FIFO is off. It will also simplify driver code. Update inv_mpu6050 and inv_icm42600 to delete now useless apply_odr. Add ODRs accessible only in low-power mode. Switch automatically to low-power or low-noise depending on the ODR set. Add channel attributes "power_mode" and "power_mode_available" for setting the power mode to use (low-noise or low-power) for ODRs supporting both mode. Reading "power_mode" when the sensor is on will return the actual mode and not the requested one. It will be different when using ODRs not supported by the requested mode. Use low-power mode by default.
