2026-02-20drm/xe/vf: Fix fs_reclaim warning with CCS save/restore BB allocationSatyanarayana K V P
CCS save/restore batch buffers are attached during BO allocation and detached during BO teardown. The shrinker triggers xe_bo_move(), which is used for both allocation and deletion paths. When BO allocation and shrinking occur concurrently, a circular locking dependency involving fs_reclaim and swap_guard can occur, leading to a deadlock such as: *===============================================================* * WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected * *---------------------------------------------------------------* * * * CPU0 CPU1 * * ---- ---- * * lock(fs_reclaim); * * lock(&sa_manager->swap_guard); * * lock(fs_reclaim); * * lock(&sa_manager->swap_guard); * * * * *** DEADLOCK *** * *===============================================================* To avoid this, the BB pointer and SA are allocated using xe_bb_alloc() before taking lock and SA is initialized using xe_bb_init() preventing reclaim from being invoked in this context. 2025-07-23drm/xe/vf: Attach and detach CCS copy commands with BOSatyanarayana K V P
Attach CCS read/write copy commands to BO for old and new mem types as NULL -> tt or system -> tt. Detach the CCS read/write copy commands from BO while deleting ttm bo from xe_ttm_bo_delete_mem_notify(). 2025-07-14drm/xe: Count dwords before allocatingLucas De Marchi
The bb allocation in emit_wa_job() is wrong in 2 ways: first it's allocating enough space for the 3DSTATE or hardcoding 4k depending on the engine. In the first case it doesn't account for the WAs and in the former it may not be sufficient. Secondly it's using the size instead of number of dwords, causing the buffer to be 4x bigger than needed: xe_bb_new() receives number of dwords as parameter and its declaration was also not following its implementation. Lastly, reword the debug message since it's not only about the LRC WAs anymore as it also include the 3DSTATE for render. While it's unlikely this is causing any real issue, let's calculate the needed space and allocate just enough. 2023-12-21drm/xe: standardize vm-less kernel submissionsDaniele Ceraolo Spurio
The current only submission in the driver that doesn't use a vm is the WA setup. We still pass a vm structure (the migration one), but we don't actually use it at submission time and we instead have an hack to use GGTT for this particular engine. Instead of special-casing the WA engine, we can skip providing a VM and use that as selector for whether to use GGTT or PPGTT. As part of this change, we can drop the special engine flag for the WA engine and switch the WA submission to use the standard job functions instead of dedicated ones. v2: rebased on s/engine/exec_queue Signed-off-by: Daniele Ceraolo Spurio <daniele.ceraolospurio@intel.com> Cc: Matthew Brost <matthew.brost@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Matthew Brost <matthew.brost@intel.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230822173334.1664332-4-daniele.ceraolospurio@intel.com Signed-off-by: Rodrigo Vivi <rodrigo.vivi@intel.com>
2023-12-21drm/xe: Rename engine to exec_queueFrancois Dugast
Engine was inappropriately used to refer to execution queues and it also created some confusion with hardware engines. Where it applies the exec_queue variable name is changed to q and comments are also updated. 2023-12-12drm/xe: Introduce a new DRM driver for Intel GPUsMatthew Brost
Xe, is a new driver for Intel GPUs that supports both integrated and discrete platforms starting with Tiger Lake (first Intel Xe Architecture). The code is at a stage where it is already functional and has experimental support for multiple platforms starting from Tiger Lake, with initial support implemented in Mesa (for Iris and Anv, our OpenGL and Vulkan drivers), as well as in NEO (for OpenCL and Level0). The new Xe driver leverages a lot from i915. As for display, the intent is to share the display code with the i915 driver so that there is maximum reuse there. But it is not added in this patch. This initial work is a collaboration of many people and unfortunately the big squashed patch won't fully honor the proper credits. But let's get some git quick stats so we can at least try to preserve some of the credits: Co-developed-by: Matthew Brost <matthew.brost@intel.com> Co-developed-by: Matthew Auld <matthew.auld@intel.com> Co-developed-by: Matt Roper <matthew.d.roper@intel.com> Co-developed-by: Thomas Hellström <thomas.hellstrom@linux.intel.com> Co-developed-by: Francois Dugast <francois.dugast@intel.com> Co-developed-by: Lucas De Marchi <lucas.demarchi@intel.com> Co-developed-by: Maarten Lankhorst <maarten.lankhorst@linux.intel.com> Co-developed-by: Philippe Lecluse <philippe.lecluse@intel.com> Co-developed-by: Nirmoy Das <nirmoy.das@intel.com> Co-developed-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Co-developed-by: José Roberto de Souza <jose.souza@intel.com> Co-developed-by: Rodrigo Vivi <rodrigo.vivi@intel.com> Co-developed-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com> Co-developed-by: Faith Ekstrand <faith.ekstrand@collabora.com> Co-developed-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Co-developed-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Rodrigo Vivi <rodrigo.vivi@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Matthew Brost <matthew.brost@intel.com>
