For DSI with DSC, drm_mode_to_intf_timing_params() scales the INTF
active width by bpp / (3 * bits_per_component) and rounds down. The DSI
host computes the same width with DIV_ROUND_UP, both for the pixel clock
(dsi_adjust_pclk_for_compression()) and for the active width it programs
(dsi_timing_setup(), from bytes per line). When the division is not
exact the INTF line is one pclk shorter than the DSI line, and the DSI
FIFO overflows.
Example: a bonded DSI video-mode panel, 952 pixels per link, DSC 8 bpp at
10 bpc: 952 * 8 / 30 = 253.87, so the INTF uses 253 and the DSI 254.
Round up, as the DSI host does. Qualcomm's downstream SDE driver also
rounds this width up, and Pengyu Luo needed the same rounding on the
Legion Y700 gen 4 [1].
Tested on a Lenovo Legion Tab Y700 gen 5 (SM8850) with that panel, with a
module parameter selecting the rounding: rounding down, DPMS off/on gives
no vblank and 14000-17000 DSI FIFO error interrupts per second
(dsi_err_worker: status=4); rounding up, the picture comes back and there
are no errors. Only tested on this device.

_dpu_core_perf_calc_bw() is called with the new CRTC state but sums
plane_fetch_bw over drm_atomic_crtc_for_each_plane(), i.e. the planes
of the committed state. When the CRTC is re-enabled (DPMS on, system
resume) the committed state has no planes attached, so the check
computes bw_ctl = 0 and the display runs without an average bandwidth
vote on the MDP path until some later commit changes a plane -- which
may not happen for a long time on a static screen such as a lock
screen.
Seen on a Lenovo TB323FU (SM8850) through the interconnect and DPU
tracepoints: after DPMS off/on or s2idle, dpu_perf_crtc_update reported
bw_ctl=0 and qnm_mdp was left at avg_bw=0 (peak 800000) instead of the
3728793 kBps voted before, until the next mode change.
Iterate the plane states of the CRTC state being checked instead.
drm_atomic_crtc_state_for_each_plane_state() falls back to the current
plane state for planes that are not part of the commit, so the result
is unchanged for commits that do touch the planes.
With this, bw_ctl is 3728793600 right after DPMS on and after resume.
Only tested on this device.

dpu_encoder_virt_atomic_disable() disables the physical encoders in
phys_encs[] order, i.e. the master first. With a split display (two
interfaces on one CTL, e.g. bonded DSI) the master's
dpu_encoder_helper_phys_cleanup() then resets the shared CTL while the
slave's timing engine is still running, and the source pipe is left
stalled half-way through the slave's next frame.
A power collapse of the MDSS core GDSC clears the stall, so it normally
goes unnoticed. When MDSS stays powered across the disable (a full
modeset, or an active DP controller), the next enable scans out
nothing: black screen with the backlight on.
Disable the slave before the master, as atomic_enable() enables them in
that order. The slave's cleanup still resets the CTL while the master is
running, but the last reset, from the master's cleanup, now happens with
both timing engines stopped.
Tested on a Lenovo Legion Tab Y700 gen 5 (SM8850, bonded DSI video-mode
panel) with MDSS kept active:
echo on > /sys/bus/platform/devices/9800000.display-subsystem/power/control
DPMS off/on: black 10/10 before, picture 10/10 after. Full modesets were
not retested with this version. Only tested on this device.

On platforms with multiple display subsystems, such as SA8775P, the GPU
binds to the first display subsystem that probes. This implicit binding
prevents subsequent display subsystems from probing successfully,
breaking multi-display support.
Use the tristate separate_gpu_kms module parameter with the default
value set to auto (-1). In auto mode, the driver selects the binding
behavior based on the number of GPUs and display subsystems. This allows
display subsystems to probe independently when required, while
preserving the existing single-card behavior on simpler systems.
The separate_gpu_kms module parameter has the following semantics:
-1 (auto, default):
Select the binding mode based on hardware topology. If exactly one
GPU and one display subsystem are present, bind them together to
form a single DRM device. Otherwise, expose the GPU and display
subsystems as separate DRM devices.
0:
Always bind the GPU and display together to form a single DRM
device.
1:
Always expose the GPU and display subsystems as separate DRM
devices.
Additionally, ensure that display subsystems are always exposed as
separate DRM devices when no recognized Adreno GPU is present,
regardless of the separate_gpu_kms setting.
This ensures correct probing on multi-display platforms without
affecting single-display, single-GPU systems.

dpu_hw_ctl_clear_pending_flush() resets the cached per-block state after a
flush transaction, but misses pending_periph_flush_mask.
The peripheral flush updater accumulates interface bits in this mask. A
later transaction which sets the top-level peripheral flush bit can write
stale interface bits to CTL_PERIPH_FLUSH together with the current state.
Peripheral flush support was added after the helper started clearing every
individual pending flush mask. Clear the peripheral mask together with the
other cached child masks.

The mdp5 crtc implementation provides a custom reset hook. However,
this hook only allocates the state, initializes it with
__drm_atomic_helper_crtc_reset(), and frees the previous state. It
does not perform any hardware reset.
Since this is exactly what the atomic_create_state hook is meant to
do, minus the old state cleanup which the caller handles, convert the
implementation to use atomic_create_state with

DP conveys YUV 420 colorimetry through a VSC SDP. A sink that advertises
a mode as YUV-420-only therefore cannot be driven at all unless the panel
supports VSC SDP, yet msm_dp_bridge_mode_valid() only used the VSC SDP
capability to decide whether to halve the pixel clock, otherwise letting
such modes through to be validated (and possibly accepted) at the full
RGB clock the sink cannot display.
Reject 420-only modes with MODE_NO_420 when the panel does not support
VSC SDP. With those modes filtered out, being a 420-only mode implies VSC
SDP support, so the YUV-420 test reduces to drm_mode_is_420_only(): drop
msm_dp_is_yuv_420_enabled() and call the DRM helper directly at its two
callers (the DPU encoder already has the connector from the atomic state).

When priv->kms_init() (mdp4_kms_init() / mdp5_kms_init()) fails partway
through, both display drivers already tear their KMS state down via
mdp4_destroy() / mdp5_kms_destroy() before returning the error. The
common error path in msm_drm_init() then runs msm_drm_uninit() ->
msm_drm_kms_uninit(), which tries to destroy the very same KMS a second
time, which causes a use-after-free crash.
Bring MDP4/MDP5 in line with the DPU driver whose dpu_kms_init() doesn't
perform error cleanup on the failure. Let the common path own the
cleanup, instead of freeing the KMS from their error paths.

On DPU v13, the DMA SSPP REC0 and REC1 blocks are located at
offsets 0x1000 and 0x3000 from the SSPP common base.
The existing DMA SSPP sub-block descriptor does not initialize
sspp_rec0_blk and sspp_rec1_blk, causing REC register accesses
to be performed at offset 0 instead of the corresponding REC
block. As a result, DMA SSPP pipes are not programmed correctly
and fail to produce output.
Introduce a DPU v13 specific DMA SSPP descriptor with the correct
REC block offsets and use it for all DMA SSPPs in the Kaanapali
catalog.

The snapshotting code internally aligns data segment to 16 bytes. This
works fine for DPU code (where most of the regions are aligned), but
fails for snapshotting of the DSI data (because DSI data region is

UTS_RELEASE evaluates to a static string and changes quite easily (e.g.
uncommitted changes in the source tree or new commits). So when checking
if a patch introduces changes to the resulting binary each usage of
UTS_RELEASE is source of annoyance.
Instead of using UTS_RELEASE directly use init_utsname()->release which
evaluates to the same string but with that a change of UTS_RELEASE
doesn't affect msm_disp_snapshot_util.o or msm_gpu.o.

The Kaanapali DPU catalog defines kaanapali_cwb[] with the correct
CWB base addresses for this platform (0x169200, 0x169600, 0x16a200,
0x16a600), but the dpu_kaanapali_cfg struct was mistakenly pointing
to sm8650_cwb instead. The SM8650 CWB blocks sit at completely
different offsets (0x66200, 0x66600, 0x7E200, 0x7E600), so using
them on Kaanapali would program CWB registers at wrong addresses,
corrupting unrelated hardware blocks and breaking writeback capture.
Fix this by pointing .cwb to the correct kaanapali_cwb array.

The KMS framework uses two slightly different definitions for the state
concept. For a given object (plane, CRTC, encoder, etc., so
drm_$OBJECT_state), the state is the entire state of that object.
However, at the device level, drm_atomic_state refers to a state update
for a limited number of objects.
Thus, drm_atomic_state isn't the entire device state, but only the full
state of some objects in that device. This has been an endless source of
confusion and thus bugs.
We can rename the drm_atomic_state structure to drm_atomic_commit to
make it less confusing.
This patch was created using:
rg -l drm_atomic_state | \
xargs sed -i 's/drm_atomic_state/drm_atomic_commit/g; s/drm_atomic_commit_helper/drm_atomic_state_helper/g'
mv drivers/gpu/drm/tests/drm_atomic_state_test.c drivers/gpu/drm/tests/drm_atomic_commit_test.c

The driver references CWB array from SM8650, but should use the Eliza
specific, which has different register space sizes. This should not
have noticeable impact on function but is indeed confusing, since the
Eliza table is used for .cwb_count.

Due to historical reasons we ended up with dummy values being specified
for MST-related interfaces some of them had INTF_NONE, others had
non-existing DP controller indices. Those workarounds are no longer
necessary. Fix types and indices for all DP-MST related INTF instances.
The only exception is INTF_3 on SC8180X, which has unique design. It can
be used either with INTF_0 / DP0 or with INTF_4 / DP1. This interface is
left with the dummy value until somebody implements necessary bits for
that platform.

Support for using a single CTL for flushing both interfaces was not in
use since the MDP5 driver dropped support for dual DSI configurations in
the commit df3c7899946c ("drm/msm/mdp5: drop split display support").
Having the MDP 3.x support migrated to the DPU driver the single CTL
flush is applicable to the platforms suspproted by the MDP5 driver. Drop
it alltogether.

The content of every half of screen is sent out via one interface in
dual-DSI case. The content for every interface is blended by a LM
pair in quad-pipe case, thus a LM pair should not blend any content
that cross the half of screen in this case. Clip plane into pipes per
left and right half screen ROI if topology is quad pipe case.
The clipped rectangle on every half of screen is futher handled by two
pipes if its width exceeds a limit for a single pipe.
For non-virtual-plane case, there is always one stage config to serve
a LM or LM pair. So the clipping does not occur when interating stages
in this case. The plane is mapped to 2 pipes only when width or clock
rate exceeds hardware constrain within stage check.

Currently, mapping plane to SSPP occurs during the plane check phase for
non-virtual plane case. The SSPP allocation and plane mapping occurs during
CRTC check phase for virtual plane case. Defer these SSPP operations until
CRTC check stage to unify the 2 cases, and ease later revisement for
quad-pipe change.
