Praveen Talari <praveen.talari@oss.qualcomm.com> says:
When operating in SPI target mode, the GENI controller relies on an
external GPIO to notify the SPI master about the target's active state.
Add support for an optional device GPIO that is asserted when a target
transfer begins and deasserted when the transfer completes, is aborted,
or hits a timeout. This allows the target to explicitly signal its
availability to the master and ensures the GPIO is released in all error
and completion paths, preventing the master from observing a stale or
incorrect target ready indication.
The ready GPIO is intentionally made optional and is requested only
when target mode is enabled. This preserves existing behaviour for
systems that do not require the signal and avoids regressions on
deployed platforms where the GPIO is already controlled from userspace.
Targets without a ready GPIO continue to operate unchanged by using
devm_gpiod_get_optional().

Convert the TI DaVinci/Keystone SPI controller binding from text format
to DT schema.
Changes during the conversion:
- Create a separate ti,davinci-spi-peripheral-props.yaml schema to
properly define the ti,spi-wdelay peripheral property.
- Add missing dmas and dma-names properties.
- Add constraints to ti,spi-wdelay based on the 6-bit width

Extend the existing MA35D1 QSPI binding to also describe the MA35D1 SPI
controller.
The SPI and QSPI controllers are separate hardware IPs. QSPI additionally
supports dual, quad and DTR transfers and a target-mode timeout function,
but these differences do not require additional controller-specific
Devicetree properties.
Both controllers expose the same Devicetree-visible resources and provide
up to two native chip-select signals. GPIO chip selects are supported
through the generic SPI controller binding. Since the MA35D1 QSPI driver
now supports GPIO chip selects, also remove the existing restriction
on cs-gpios for the QSPI compatible.
Add the nuvoton,ma35d1-spi compatible and update the binding description
and examples to cover both controllers.

Frieder Schrempf <frieder@fris.de> says:
"rx-sample-delay-ns" has been a generic SPI peripheral property since it
was moved to spi-peripheral-props.yaml, but the core has never looked at
it, and what it is meant to describe has become blurred along the way.
It was introduced in 2015 for Rockchip, to compensate "boards with
high-capacitance SPI lines". The wording now in the generic schema came
later, from a description of a DesignWare register, and lost its
controller-specific qualifier on the way. It says what the value does to
the controller, but not what a board should measure to arrive at it.
Patch 1 says what the property describes. Patch 2 parses it in the core,
so that a controller driver can act on it without open-coding the
property name, and patch 3 converts spi-dw, its only user that reads it
from the peripheral node as the binding intends.
Deliberately not converted: spi-rockchip and spi-mtk-snfi read
"rx-sample-delay-ns" from the *controller* node rather than the
peripheral node, which contradicts the binding but is what their device
trees rely on. Converting them would break those boards, so they keep
their private parsing. The controller-wide default that spi-dw reads
from its own node is left in place for the same reason - it lives in a
different node, which is not what the core parses when it looks at a
peripheral.
This is groundwork for letting SPI devices declare their datasheet
clock-to-output-valid time so that controllers can move their sampling
point instead of forcing a lower spi-max-frequency, posted as an RFC at
https://lore.kernel.org/r/20260303-fsl-qspi-rx-sampling-delay-v1-0-9326bbc492d6@kontron.de
Nothing in that work is needed to read this series, and nothing here
depends on it: the chip side is a separate quantity that composes with
this one, which is why patch 1 spends a paragraph on keeping them apart.
Link: https://patch.msgid.link/20260921-spi-sample-delay-cleanup-v2-0-b460d572fd32@kontron.de
|

The property is documented as an offset from the controller's default
sampling time. That says what the value does, but not what it is meant to
describe, and it leaves room for two readings: a delay that belongs to
the board, or a stand-in for the peripheral's own clock-to-output-valid
time, which has no other expression in a device tree today.
The first reading is the original one. The property was introduced for
Rockchip in commit 76b17e6e4923 ("spi/rockchip: Add device tree property
to configure Rx Sample Delay") to deal with "boards with high-capacitance
SPI lines", where "the controller samples the Rx data line too early".
The current wording arrived later, in commit 5ce78f4456a9 ("dt-bindings:
snps, dw-apb-ssi: Add sparx5 support, plus rx-sample-delay-ns property"),
where it described a DesignWare register and was qualified as such. That
qualification was dropped when the property was moved to the generic
schema in commit b658be56e867 ("spi: dt-bindings: Move
'rx-sample-delay-ns' to spi-peripheral-props.yaml"), leaving a register
description standing in for a definition.
The distinction matters because the two compose. A board delay is
specific to one design, while a datasheet timing parameter is the same
wherever the chip is soldered, so a mechanism that derives the chip side
from the chip would add to a value that already accounts for it.
Spell out that the property describes the board. Nothing changes in what
the value means or in how existing device trees are interpreted.

Robert Marko <robert.marko@sartura.hr> says:
This series adds QSPI support for the Microchip LAN969x which has two QSPI
controllers based on SAMA7G5.
It requires pad calibration, supports DMA, and supports 100 MHz operation.
It requires a different init sequence to SAMA7G5 so support for custom
.init per controller caps is added, and existing controllers relying on
checking gclk are converted to it.

Praveen Talari <praveen.talari@oss.qualcomm.com> says:
The Qualcomm automotive SA8255p SoC relies on firmware to configure
platform resources, including clocks, interconnects and TLMM.
The driver requests resources operations over SCMI using power
and performance protocols.
The SCMI power protocol enables or disables resources like clocks,
interconnect paths, and TLMM (GPIOs) using runtime PM framework APIs,
such as resume/suspend, to control power states(on/off).
The SCMI performance protocol manages SPI frequency, with each
frequency rate represented by a performance level. The driver uses
geni_se_set_perf_opp() API to request the desired frequency rate.
As part of geni_se_set_perf_opp(), the OPP for the requested frequency
is obtained using dev_pm_opp_find_freq_floor() and the performance
level is set using dev_pm_opp_set_opp().

Add DT bindings for the QUP GENI SPI controller on sa8255p platform.
SA8255p platform abstracts resources such as clocks, interconnect and
GPIO pins configuration in Firmware. SCMI power and perf protocols are
utilized to request resource configurations.
SA8255p platform does not require the Serial Engine (SE) common properties
as the SE firmware is loaded and managed by the TrustZone (TZ) secure
environment.

Pull spi fixes from Mark Brown:
"A small set of fixes that came in since -rc1, we have one core fix for
shutting down target mode properly if the system suspends while it's
running plus a small set of fairly unremarkable device specific fixes.
There's also a couple of pure DT binding changes for Renesas SoCs, the
power domains one allows some SoCs to be correctly described with
existing code"

This SPI controller likely belongs to a power domain for all the SoCs
listed. For sure, it belongs to one on the Renesas RZ/N1 SoC, so
enable the property to be able to describe its power domain in DTs.

Commit 164c05f03ffa ("spi: Convert DW SPI binding to DT schema") added
an RZ/N1 entry which was not in the original txt-file. It doesn't follow
the usual "<soc entry>, <soc family entry>" style for Renesas SoCs which
was properly added later with commit 029d32a892a8 ("spi: dw-apb-ssi:
Integrate Renesas RZ/N1 SPI controller"). In that commit, removing the
bogus entry was overlooked and is finally done now.
