Pull networking updates from Paolo Abeni:
"This includes a significant number of low-priority fixes - especially
in the NIC drivers area - that we deferred from the last few RCs in
the previous cycle, which can't be easily outlined in the synopsis
below.
Core & protocols:
- Continue the work on removing rtnl_lock dependencies:
- per-netns ARP and ND neighbour tables, with the default settings
now configurable per netns (inheritance from init_net is
controlled by the new net.core.neigh_inherit_init_net sysctl)
- RCU-protected configuration and rtnl_lock-less fill_info() for
hsr, netkit, sit, vlan and vxlan devices
- per-netns device unregistration for ip tunnel and gre devices
- use the netdev instance lock instead of rtnl_lock when reading
speed and duplex via sysfs
- batch the flushing of uncached routes at device unregistration
time, relieving rtnl_lock contention on netns dismantle.
- Add hardware pacing offload support, admin-controlled via a new
rtnetlink attribute, with sch_fq integration (implemented in idpf).
- Re-segment BIG TCP GSO packets into GSO packets fitting the egress
device limits instead of plain MSS-sized segments, improving
throughput for mixed BIG TCP / non-BIG TCP paths by up to 70%.
- Generate RSS keys that spread flows over all the RX queues; the
previous random keys could leave some queues unused.
- Optimize the bridge VLAN forwarding paths: cache the port-VLAN in
fdb entries and consider only VLAN members when flooding, for ~10%
more Mpps in the fdb forwarding path.
- A few TCP/IP performance improvements aimed at efficient cache
usage and reducing contention.
- Add the TCP ROCCET congestion control, a CUBIC variant aimed at
avoiding bufferbloat in cellular networks.
- Continue the conversion of getsockopt callbacks to sockopt_t.
- Add an ethtool command to list the front-facing ports of an
interface, including SFP cages and modules, using the phy_port
representation.
- Enable BIG TCP support for bareudp tunnels.
- Remove the IPV6_ADDRFORM socket option and disallow buggy TCP state
transitions (listen() + shutdown() + connect() and connect() +
connect(AF_UNSPEC) + listen()).
- Remove most BUG_ON()s from core packet processing, replacing them
with error paths.
Wireless:
- Latency improvements, including lockless station get/dump and
beacon updates, plus RTNL reduction and locking cleanups.
- Infrastructure for non-station TX/RX with MLO.
- NAN (Wi-Fi Aware) Instant Communication support and other NAN
improvements.
- Control frame Integrity Protocol (CIP) and protected TWT support.
- Improvements for AP regulatory checks.
Netfilter:
- Disable br_netfilter in user namespaces and schedule it for removal
in 2027.
- Restrict the raw table in nft_compat to the specific family, hook
and priority.
- Prepare the flowtable for mixed IPv4-over-IPv6 tunneling (and vice
versa).
- Use GFP_KERNEL_ACCOUNT for most netfilter allocations, for better
integration with memcg.
- Allow discovering conntrack zone filtering support in ctnetlink
dumps, and fix nfnetlink_hook handling of large dumps.
Deletions:
- Move the LLC type 2 sockets out of tree. There are no known users
and the code attracts a never-ending stream of LLM-driven fixes.
Device drivers:
- New drivers:
- Meta Platforms NIC (mpnic), the second-generation NIC from Meta
- initial skeleton of the Nebula-matrix NICs driver (nbl)
- X-Powers AC200/AC300 Fast Ethernet PHYs
- Ethernet high-speed NICs:
- Intel:
- i40e: XDP metadata support for RX hash and VLAN tag
- ice: expose the E825 TSPLL state via the DPLL subsystem
- nVidia/Mellanox:
- move the data direct infrastructure from IB to core, in
preparation for netdev support.
- reduce the memory used per offloaded TC rule
- Meta (fbnic):
- support large io_uring zero-copy RX buffers
- Microsoft vNIC (mana):
- add BQL support

The Rockchip GMAC binding needs to describe the PCS reference used by
the SGMII support added later in this series. The property will be
parsed by rk_pcs_init(), and a missing phandle fails the probe. Add it
and require it when phy-mode is "sgmii" on rockchip,rk3568-gmac, the
only SoC in this binding that has SGMII support.

Add device tree binding documentation for the Synopsys DesignWare
XPCS integrated on the Rockchip RK3568 SoC.
The XPCS is accessed over the APB3 bus and internally connected to
a Naneng Combo SerDes PHY. It supports 1000BASE-X, SGMII, and
QSGMII modes, with four MII ports.
The MII port used by the SGMII link is derived from the MAC it is
routed to: GMAC0 uses port 0, GMAC1 uses port 1. The port index is
not an independent board-level configuration, so the binding does
not describe the ports. If a future SoC needs per-port configuration
that cannot be derived, pcs-handle argument cells can be added then.
The CRU reset lines (SRST_XPCS*) are intentionally not described: no
in-tree user requests them, and bring-up relies on the PD_PIPE power
domain, the SerDes PHY and the in-IP soft reset. They can be added
later as optional without breaking ABI.

Describe the firmware-managed variant of the QCom DesignWare MAC. As the
properties here differ a lot from the HLOS-managed variant, lets put it
in a separate file. Since we need to update the maximum number of power
domains, let's update existing bindings referencing the top-level
snps, dwmac.yaml and limit their maxItems for power-domains to 1.

RTL8224 packages contain four PHYs at consecutive MDIO addresses and
share configuration registers. Unaligned packages need an explicit base
address to select the correct package registers and per-port MDI fields.
Introduce realtek,rtl8224-package so the package example selects a
dedicated schema while child PHYs retain their Clause 45 discovery
compatible. Validate package and child properties, document that
unaligned layouts require a package node, and preserve support for
existing aligned descriptions without package nodes.

IPQ5424 integrates the same PPE switch core as IPQ9574, but requires a
different, smaller set of interconnect paths, and has only 3 front panel
ports plus the EDMA FIFO interface, without the EIP FIFO.
Add the IPQ5424 compatible, describe the interconnect paths of each SoC,
and limit the Ethernet ports of IPQ5424 to ports 1-3. Also match all
Ethernet port nodes, so that ports out of the supported range are
rejected by the reg limits instead of being left unchecked.

The EDMA reset is described in the binding as a single reset, but the
hardware has two separate EDMA resets, the system reset and the APB reset.
The reset used in the example is a combined reset that covers both of them.
Describe the EDMA resets as two separate entries named "sys" and "apb", in
the same way as the EDMA clocks, and update the example accordingly.
The EDMA driver has not been merged upstream yet, and no in-tree device
tree uses the ethernet-dma node, so there is no existing user of this
binding and it is safe to update it without breaking the ABI.

The binding describes micrel,rmii-reference-clock-select-25-mhz as a
boolean. dt-schema requires properties ending in -mhz to contain an
unsigned integer value. A bare property therefore produces a
property-units.yaml type warning.
Describe 25 MHz selection as <1> and keep the property restricted to
KSZ8021, KSZ8031, KSZ8081 and KSZ8091 PHYs, which have the RMII
reference clock select bit. The driver checks only for the property
presence, so this does not change runtime behavior.

The Ethernet MDIO controllers in Realtek Otto switches support several
MDC frequencies. Document the supported clock-frequency values:
- RTL838x: 2.5 MHz or 10 MHz
- RTL839x, RTL930x and RTL931x: 1.25 MHz, 2.5 MHz or 5 MHz
RTL839x has a single frequency selector shared by both MDIO buses.
Require explicitly specified frequencies to be identical and document
that a bus without clock-frequency inherits the frequency selected by
the other available bus. Use 2.5 MHz if neither bus specifies a
frequency.
There is neither an official documentation nor any obvious registers that
indicate a dependency to one of the hardware clocks. The usable setup bits
are more like hardcoded values than dividers. Without further details do
not add a clock reference.

Existing users have no compatible or just "ethernet-phy-ieee802.3-c22"

The RAVB module on Gen4 have no gPTP clock as part of the RAVB module
itself, instead it relies on an external system wide gPTP clock. The
gPTP clock is shared with RTSN on V4H and RSWITCH on S4.
Add an optional phandle so that the RAVB driver can find and use the
gPTP clock. Ideally this should have been a mandatory property but for
backward compatible it is optional. The RAVB module is capable of
functioning without it, but can in such cases not provided PTP
functionality.

During the conversion, the following updates were made:
- Added the 'clocks' property. It was missing from the txt binding but
is used in device trees (omap3-n900.dts).
- Added 'spi-cpol' and 'spi-cpha'. These were present in the original
txt binding's example but missing from its property list.
- 'vio-supply' and 'spi-max-frequency' are no longer required. The txt
binding listed them as required, but they are only applicable when
the chip is connected via SPI.

The AC200 and AC300 contain compatible Fast Ethernet link PHYs which
report the same Clause 22 identifier and use the same link-side register
layout. Their package control paths differ: AC200 control registers are
accessed through the I2C register interface of the companion IC, while
the AC300 control range is at a second Clause 22 address fixed at 16 plus
the link address.
Describe both variants as Ethernet PHY packages. The package reg value is
the link PHY base address and the child supplies the documented PHY ID,
because the identification registers cannot be read until package setup
has completed. The AC300 driver reaches its control range with the PHY
package offset helpers. The AC200 package instead references the companion
IC described by the separately submitted x-powers,ac200 MFD binding. Its
I2C interface provides access to the package controls.
Give fixed hardware variant-specific compatibles. Also provide an ACx00
compatible for systems which can contain either package, with one packed
NVMEM field containing calibration in bits 3 through 0, the AC300 selector
in bit 8 and its low-calibration selector in bit 9. Such a description
contains the potential resources for both backends; the driver consumes
only those selected by the configuration field.
Document the little-endian encoding and two-byte full configuration,
while allowing a one-byte calibration value for fixed AC200 packages.
Describe the package clock, supply and optional xMII receive-clock
inversion needed by some integrations. A fixed AC200 package may omit the
NVMEM field and use its internal calibration copy. Limit both the package
and child link-PHY addresses in AC300-capable descriptions to 0 through 7
so the control address remains in the documented range 16 through 23.

WRT3200ACM and WRT32x routers always report a fixed US regulatory domain
from the mwifiex ROM, which conflicts with the platform regulatory
configuration on units sold outside the US market. For example:
- phy0 mwlwifi 5 GHz, hard-coded region 98 EU mapped to FR
- phy1 mwlwifi 2.4 GHz, hard-coded region 98 EU mapped to FR
- phy2 mwifiex 2.4 and 5 GHz, hard-coded region US
When the system boots, it detects a conflict between the user selected
region and the radios, e.g. BG FR US, and applies extreme restrictions,
preventing phy0 from starting on any DFS channel. phy2 works.
Add a device-tree flag, which allows affected devices, where the radio
conflicts with the platform to ignore the incorrect regulatory hint in
the ROM of the radio, so the platform regulatory domain can be used.
This does not allow the user to change the regulatory configuration of
any radio. It only allows phy0 to start and operate according to its
certified configuration.

The WFxxx device provides an SDIO interface. In addition to the usual
in-band SDIO IRQ, the device also supports an out-of-band IRQ line.
However, using the OOB IRQ with SDIO requires to poll the control
register during the device initialization. This polling is unreliable:
if an IRQ is raised while the host reads the control register, the
device is lost and only a reset allows to recover it.
There is no way to fix this in software. So, warn the user that this
setup should be reserved to debug.

generation-specific qcom,ath12k-calibration-variant binding as well as
the generation-agnostic qcom,calibration-variant binding to load

The lower end Realtek Otto switches provide 1G only and are divided into
two series:
- Maple : RTL838x up to 28 ports
- Cypress: RTL839x up to 52 ports
The Maple based devices have 3 different SoCs: RTL8380, RTL8381 and
RTL8382. The Cypress series consists of the RTL8391, RTL8392 and
RTL8393 SoCs. The MDIO controller of these switches works like the
existing RTL93xx logic but has different characteristics and different
registers. Add new compatibles in the device tree.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-next
Pull networking updates from Jakub Kicinski:
"One of the 'small improvements all over the place' releases for us.
It's hard to draw any direct comparisons because summer vacations
disrupted our patch processing (and presumably - generation) quite a
bit.
Quick and dirty count suggests we (Paolo and I) merged a very similar
number of net (632) and net-next (648) patches. This is not telling
the full story either because 1/3 to 1/2 of the net-next patches also
*seem* like AI-driven low priority fixes, cleanups and clarifications.
We are completely overwhelmed, of course. The glimmer of hope is that
we secured sufficient LLM budget and access (thank you Meta!) to run
reviews with multiple frontier models on each patch. This eliminates
some hallucinations. That said, in terms of review, the LLMs can only
do so much.
The sad truth is that our APIs (especially for rare events like PCIe
errors, timeouts etc) have always been racy, and now LLMs don't let us
ignore that. I expect our direction for the next release will be to
tweak the reviews a little bit more, but start shifting focus to
letting the LLMs take care of the busy work - managing patchwork,
automating common process complaints, editing commit messages, and
maybe applying patches which already got "reviewed-by" tags from
people we trust...

Add device tree bindings for the MediaTek MT7628 embedded Ethernet
Switch.
The Switch provides 5 external user ports and 1 internal CPU port, with
integrated 10/100 PHYs and fixed port to PHY mapping.
The CPU port is internally connected and uses port index 6.

Add a binding for the microcontroller (MCU) that fronts the PSE silicon
on a range of managed Realtek-based switches. The host talks only to the
MCU, over I2C/SMBus or UART, using a fixed message-based protocol; the
PSE chips behind it never appear on the bus.
The device is the MCU together with its Realtek firmware: the firmware
and its host protocol are what the binding describes, not the
general-purpose microcontroller they run on. The PSE silicon behind the
MCU (Realtek or Broadcom) is reported by the MCU and detected at runtime,
so it is not described here - hence the 'realtek' vendor prefix.
Two protocol generations exist, both Realtek's, selected by the
compatible: gen1 on older boards (fronting Broadcom PSE silicon) and gen2,
the altered protocol used with Realtek's own PSE silicon. On an I2C
attachment the framing the MCU firmware expects is part of the compatible
as well - '-smbus' or raw '-i2c'; a UART attachment carries no framing
suffix, as the transport is given by the parent serial node.
Each board additionally carries a device-specific compatible that falls
back to one of the protocol compatibles above. Drivers bind on the
protocol compatible; the device-specific string identifies the board and
reserves a place for a future per-board quirk without having to retrofit
device trees already in the field.
