Replace ternary (condition ? "enable" : "disable") syntax with helpers from string_choices.h because: 1. Simple function call with one argument is easier to read. Ternary operator has three arguments and with wrapping might lead to quite long code. 2. Is slightly shorter thus also easier to read. 3. It brings uniformity in the text - same string. 4. Allows deduping by the linker, which results in a smaller binary file. After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove() return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for platform drivers. Convert all platform drivers below drivers/usb to use .remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer. 2023-05-28usb: gadget: aspeed: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. In ast_vhub_epn_handle_ack() when the received data length exceeds the buffer, it does not check the case and just copies to req.buf and cause a buffer overflow, kernel oops on this case. This issue could be reproduced on a BMC with an OS that enables the lan over USB: 1. In OS, enable the usb eth dev, verify it pings the BMC OK; 2. In OS, set the usb dev mtu to 2000. (Default is 1500); 3. In OS, ping the BMC with `-s 2000` argument. Since commit fc274c1e9973 ("USB: gadget: Add a new bus for gadgets"), the gadget devices are proper driver core devices, which caused each device to request pinmux settings: aspeed_vhub 1e6a0000.usb-vhub: Initialized virtual hub in USB2 mode aspeed-g5-pinctrl 1e6e2080.pinctrl: pin A7 already requested by 1e6a0000.usb-vhub; cannot claim for gadget.0 aspeed-g5-pinctrl 1e6e2080.pinctrl: pin-232 (gadget.0) status -22 aspeed-g5-pinctrl 1e6e2080.pinctrl: could not request pin 232 (A7) from group USB2AD on device aspeed-g5-pinctrl g_mass_storage gadget.0: Error applying setting, reverse things back The vhub driver has already claimed the pins, so prevent the gadgets from requesting them too by setting the magic of_node_reused flag. This causes the driver core to skip the mux request. If the list representing the request queue does not contain the expected request, the value of the list_for_each_entry() iterator will not point to a valid structure. To avoid type confusion in such case, the list iterator scope will be limited to the list_for_each_entry() loop. In preparation to limiting scope of the list iterator to the list traversal loop, use a dedicated pointer to point to the found request object [1]. We had some dodgy code using the speed setting to decide whether a port reset would reset the device or just enable it. Instead, if the device is disabled and has a gadget attached, a reset will enable it. If it's already enabled, a reset will reset it. When stalling EP0, we need to wait for an ACK interrupt, otherwise we may get out of sync on the next setup packet data phase. Also we need to ignore the direction when processing that interrupt as the HW reports a potential mismatch. Implement this by adding a stall state to EP0. In some places, the code prints a human-readable USB endpoint transfer type (e.g. "bulk"). This involves a switch statement sometimes wrapped around in ({ ... }) block leading to code repetition. To make this scenario easier, here introduces usb_ep_type_string() function, which returns a human-readable name of provided endpoint type. 2018-07-17usb: gadget: aspeed-vhub: Fix SETUP packets with OUT data phaseBenjamin Herrenschmidt
A couple of bugs in the driver are preventing SETUP packets with an OUT data phase from working properly. Interestingly those are incredibly rare (RNDIS typically uses them and thus is broken without this fix). The main problem was an incorrect register offset being applied for arming RX on EP0. The other problem relates to stalling such a packet before the data phase, in which case we don't get an ACK cycle, and get the next SETUP packet directly, so we shouldn't reject it. 2018-05-15usb/gadget: Add driver for Aspeed SoC virtual hubBenjamin Herrenschmidt
The Aspeed BMC SoCs support a "virtual hub" function. It provides some HW support for a top-level USB2 hub behind which sit 5 gadget "ports". This driver adds support for the full functionality, emulating the hub standard requests and exposing 5 UDC gadget drivers corresponding to the ports. The hub itself has HW provided dedicated EP0 and EP1 (the latter for hub interrupts). It also has dedicated EP0s for each function. For other endpoints, there's a pool of 15 "generic" endpoints that are shared among the ports. The driver relies on my previous patch adding a "dispose" EP op to handle EP allocation between ports. EPs are allocated from the shared pool in the UDC "match_ep" callback and assigned to the UDC instance (added to the gadget ep_list). When the composite driver gets unbound, the new hook will allow the UDC to clean things up and return those EPs to the shared pool.
