2024-09-22drm/panel: nt35510: Make new commands optionalLinus Walleij
The commit introducing the Frida display started to write the SETVCMOFF registers unconditionally, and some (not all!) Hydis display seem to be affected by ghosting after the commit. Make SETVCMOFF optional and only send these commands on the Frida display for now. Reported-by: Stefan Hansson <newbyte@postmarketos.org> Fixes: 219a1f49094f ("drm/panel: nt35510: support FRIDA FRD400B25025-A-CTK") Acked-by: Jessica Zhang <quic_jesszhan@quicinc.com> Tested-by: Stefan Hansson <newbyte@postmarketos.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20240908-fix-nt35510-v2-1-d4834b9cdb9b@linaro.org

The initialization commands are taken from the STMicroelectronics driver found at [1]. To ensure backward compatibility, flags have been added to enable gamma correction setting and display control. In other cases, registers have been set to their default values according to the specifications found in the datasheet. 2023-07-21drm: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2022-07-09drm/mipi-dsi: Make remove callback return voidUwe Kleine-König
All implementations return 0 and the return value of mipi_dsi_drv_remove() is ignored anyhow. So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour. 2022-07-09drm/panel-novatek-nt35510: Emit an error message if power off failsUwe Kleine-König
Returning an error code from a mipi_dsi remove callback fails, this is silently ignored. (mipi_dsi_drv_remove() propagates the return value to device_remove() which ignores it.) So emit an error code in the driver remove function and return 0. 2021-06-28drm/panel: nt35510: Do not fail if DSI read failsLinus Walleij
Failing to read the MTP over DSI should not bring down the system and make us bail out from using the display, it turns out that this happens when toggling the display off and on, and that write is often still working so the display output is just fine. Printing an error is enough. Tested by killing the Gnome session repeatedly on the Samsung Skomer. 2021-03-04drm/mcde/panel: Inverse misunderstood flagLinus Walleij
A recent patch renaming MIPI_DSI_MODE_EOT_PACKET to MIPI_DSI_MODE_NO_EOT_PACKET brought to light the misunderstanding in the current MCDE driver and all its associated panel drivers that MIPI_DSI_MODE_EOT_PACKET would mean "use EOT packet" when in fact it means the reverse. Fix it up by implementing the flag right in the MCDE DSI driver and remove the flag from panels that actually want the EOT packet. 2020-02-29drm/panel: Add driver for Novatek NT35510-based panelsLinus Walleij
This adds a driver for panels based on the Novatek NT35510 display driver IC, such as the Hydis HVA40WV1 panel found in the Samsung GT-S7710. The NT35510 can be used with both internal and external backlight (such as GPIO backlight) so we support both: if no external backlight is found, we register a subdriver for the internal backlight.
