2015-03-19selftests: Set CC using CROSS_COMPILE once in lib.mkMichael Ellerman
This avoids repeating the logic in every Makefile. We mimic the top-level Makefile and use $(CROSS_COMPILE)gcc. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> Signed-off-by: Shuah Khan <shuahkh@osg.samsung.com>
2015-03-13selftests: Introduce minimal shared logic for running testsMichael Ellerman
This adds a Make include file which most selftests can then include to get the run_tests logic. On its own this has the advantage of some reduction in repetition, and also means the pass/fail message is defined in fewer places. However the key advantage is it will allow us to implement install very simply in a subsequent patch. The default implementation just executes each program in $(TEST_PROGS). We use a variable to hold the default implementation of $(RUN_TESTS) because that gives us a clean way to override it if necessary, ie. using override. The mount, memory-hotplug and mqueue tests use that to provide a different implementation. Tests are not run via /bin/bash, so if they are scripts they must be executable, we add a+x to several. 2014-12-02selftests/kcmp: Always try to build the testMichael Ellerman
Don't prevent the test building on non-x86. Just try and build it and let the chips fall where they may. Add support for CROSS_COMPILE while we're at it. Also we don't need a custom rule for building kcmp_test. 2014-12-02selftests/kcmp: Don't include kernel headersMichael Ellerman
The kcmp test mucks with the include path to bring in the kernel headers, and x86 headers too for reasons that are not clear. Now that kcmp.h is exported none of that should be necessary. 2012-12-17tools/testing/selftests/kcmp/kcmp_test.c: print reason for failure in kcmp_testDave Jones
I was curious why sys_kcmp wasn't working, which led me to the testcase. It turned out I hadn't enabled CHECKPOINT_RESTORE in the kernel I was testing. Add a decoding of errno to the testcase to make that obvious. In case kcmp_test exit non zero value it will cause make error. Better way is just print the test failure status. 2012-05-31syscalls, x86: add __NR_kcmp syscallCyrill Gorcunov
While doing the checkpoint-restore in the user space one need to determine whether various kernel objects (like mm_struct-s of file_struct-s) are shared between tasks and restore this state. The 2nd step can be solved by using appropriate CLONE_ flags and the unshare syscall, while there's currently no ways for solving the 1st one. One of the ways for checking whether two tasks share e.g. mm_struct is to provide some mm_struct ID of a task to its proc file, but showing such info considered to be not that good for security reasons. Thus after some debates we end up in conclusion that using that named 'comparison' syscall might be the best candidate. So here is it -- __NR_kcmp. It takes up to 5 arguments - the pids of the two tasks (which characteristics should be compared), the comparison type and (in case of comparison of files) two file descriptors. Lookups for pids are done in the caller's PID namespace only. At moment only x86 is supported and tested.
