'devtype' is an enum, thus cast of pointer on 64-bit compile test with
W=1 causes:
wm8904.c:2205:21: error: cast to smaller integer type 'enum wm8904_type' from 'const void *' [-Werror,-Wvoid-pointer-to-enum-cast]

The WM8904_ADC_TEST_0 register is modified as part of updating the OSR
controls but does not have a cache default, leading to errors when we try
to modify these controls in cache only mode with no prior read:
wm8904 3-001a: ASoC: error at snd_soc_component_update_bits on wm8904.3-001a for register: [0x000000c6] -16
Add a read of the register to probe() to fill the cache and avoid both the
error messages and the misconfiguration of the chip which will result.

The maple tree register cache is based on a much more modern data structure
than the rbtree cache and makes optimisation choices which are probably
more appropriate for modern systems than those made by the rbtree cache. In
v6.5 it has also acquired the ability to generate multi-register writes in
sync operations, bringing performance up to parity with the rbtree cache
there.
Update the wm8904 driver to use the more modern data structure.

After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new()
call-back type"), all drivers being converted to .probe_new() and then
03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter") convert

Restore volume after charge pump and PGA activation to ensure
that volume settings are correctly applied when re-enabling codec

CLASS_W, CHARGE_PUMP and POWER_MANAGEMENT_2 register configuration

As part of the ongoing i2c transition to the simple probe

snd_soc_dai_digital_mute() is internally using both
mute_stream() (1) or digital_mute() (2), but the difference between
these 2 are only handling direction.
We can merge digital_mute() into mute_stream

The simple-card tries to signal the codec to disable rate constraints,
see commit 2458adb8f92a ("SoC: simple-card-utils: set 0Hz to sysclk when
shutdown"). This wasn't handled by the codec, instead it would set the
FLL frequency to 0Hz which isn't working. Since we don't have any rate
constraints just ignore this request.

The current code assumes that the power is turned off in
SND_SOC_BIAS_OFF. If there are no actual regulator the codec isn't
turned off and the registers are not reset to their default values but
the regcache is still marked as dirty. Thus a value might not be written
to the hardware if it is set to the default value. Do a software reset
before turning off the power to make sure the registers are always reset
to their default states.

The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This
patch replaces cases of:
kmalloc(a * b, gfp)
with:
kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp)
as well as handling cases of:
kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp)
with:
kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp)
as it's slightly less ugly than:
kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp)
This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:
kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp)
though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.
Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.
The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own
implementation of kmalloc().
The Coccinelle script used for this was:
// Fix redundant parens around sizeof().

The correct values referred by a boolean control are
value.integer.value[], not value.enumerated.item[].
The former is long while the latter is int, so it's even incompatible
on 64bit architectures.

The WM8904 and WM8918 has the same data type, while the WM8912
has different data type. So, use the data in dt ids table to

For CODEC controls snd_kcontrol_chip() currently returns a pointer to the
CODEC that registered the control. With the upcoming consolidation of
platform and CODEC controls this will change. Prepare for this by introducing
the snd_soc_kcontrol_codec() helper function that will hide the implementation
details of how the CODEC for a control can be obtained. This will allow us to
change this easily in the future.
The patch also updates all CODEC drivers to use the new helper function.
