2023-03-03drm/virtio: Add option to disable KMS supportRob Clark
Add a build option to disable modesetting support. This is useful in cases where the guest only needs to use the GPU in a headless mode, or (such as in the CrOS usage) window surfaces are proxied to a host compositor. As the modesetting ioctls are a big surface area for potential security bugs to be found (it's happened in the past, we should assume it will again in the future), it makes sense to have a build option to disable those ioctls in cases where they serve no legitimate purpose. v2: Use more if (IS_ENABLED(...)) v3: Also permit the host to advertise no scanouts v4: Spiff out commit msg v5: Make num_scanouts==0 and DRM_VIRTIO_GPU_KMS=n behave the same v6: Drop conditionally building virtgpu_display.c and early-out of it's init/fini fxns instead Signed-off-by: Rob Clark <robdclark@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Dmitry Osipenko <dmitry.osipenko@collabora.com> Reviewed-by: Javier Martinez Canillas <javierm@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Dmitry Osipenko <dmitry.osipenko@collabora.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20230302233506.3146290-1-robdclark@gmail.com
2022-09-07drm/virtio: set fb_modifiers_not_supportedChia-I Wu
Without this, the drm core advertises LINEAR modifier which is incorrect. Also userspace virgl does not support modifiers. For example, it causes chrome on ozone/drm to fail with "Failed to create scanout buffer". 2022-06-20drm: Drop drm_edid.h from drm_crtc.hVille Syrjälä
drm_crtc.h has no need for drm_edid.h, so don't include it. Avoids useless rebuilds of the entire universe when touching drm_edid.h. 2020-11-10drm: Use state helper instead of CRTC state pointerMaxime Ripard
Many drivers reference the crtc->pointer in order to get the current CRTC state in their atomic_begin or atomic_flush hooks, which would be the new CRTC state in the global atomic state since _swap_state happened when those hooks are run. 2019-01-24drm: Split out drm_probe_helper.hDaniel Vetter
Having the probe helper stuff (which pretty much everyone needs) in the drm_crtc_helper.h file (which atomic drivers should never need) is confusing. Split them out. To make sure I actually achieved the goal here I went through all drivers. And indeed, all atomic drivers are now free of drm_crtc_helper.h includes. v2: Make it compile. There was so much compile fail on arm drivers that I figured I'll better not include any of the acks on v1. v3: Massive rebase because i915 has lost a lot of drmP.h includes, but not all: Through drm_crtc_helper.h > drm_modeset_helper.h -> drmP.h there was still one, which this patch largely removes. Which means rolling out lots more includes all over. This will also conflict with ongoing drmP.h cleanup by others I expect. v3: Rebase on top of atomic bochs. v4: Review from Laurent for bridge/rcar/omap/shmob/core bits: - (re)move some of the added includes, use the better include files in other places (all suggested from Laurent adopted unchanged). - sort alphabetically v5: Actually try to sort them, and while at it, sort all the ones I touch. v6: Rebase onto i915 changes. v7: Rebase once more. 2018-09-25drm/virtio: fix DRM_FORMAT_* handlingGerd Hoffmann
Use DRM_FORMAT_HOST_XRGB8888, so we are using the correct format code on bigendian machines. Also set the quirk_addfb_prefer_host_byte_order mode_config bit so drm_mode_addfb() asks for the correct format code. Both DRM_FORMAT_* and VIRTIO_GPU_FORMAT_* are defined to be little endian, so using a different mapping on bigendian machines is wrong. It's there because of broken drm_mode_addfb() behavior. So with drm_mode_addfb() being fixed we can fix this too. While wading through the code I've noticed we have a little issue in virtio: We attach a format to the bo when it is created (DRM_IOCTL_MODE_CREATE_DUMB), not when we map it as framebuffer (DRM_IOCTL_MODE_ADDFB). Easy way out: Support a single format only. Pick DRM_FORMAT_HOST_XRGB8888, it is the only one actually used in practice. Drop unused mappings in virtio_gpu_translate_format(). With this patch applied both ADDFB and ADDFB2 ioctls work correctly in the virtio-gpu.ko driver on big endian machines. Without the patch only ADDFB (which still seems to be used by the majority of userspace) works correctly. The old state is useful for drivers that need to perform operations at enable time that depend on the transition between the old and new states. While at it, rename the operation to .atomic_enable() to be consistent with .atomic_disable(), as the .enable() operation is used by atomic helpers only. 2017-02-12drm: Constify drm_mode_config atomic helper private pointerLaurent Pinchart
The drm_mode_config helper private field points to a structure of function pointers that don't need to be modified at runtime. Make it const. 2016-12-15drm/virtio: Call drm_helper_mode_fill_fb_struct() before drm_framebuffer_init()Ville Syrjälä
We want framebuffers to be mostly useable already before drm_framebuffer_init() get called, and so we will start demanding that all the interesting format/size/etc. information be filled in before drm_framebuffer_init(). drm_helper_mode_fill_fb_struct() will do that for us, so let's make sure it gets called before drm_framebuffer_init(). 2016-11-03virtio-gpu: fix vblank eventsGerd Hoffmann
virtio-gpu sends vblank events in virtio_gpu_crtc_atomic_flush, and because of that it must be called for disabled planes too. Ask drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes to do that. v2: update to use new drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes() API. 2016-08-29drm/atomic-helper: Add NO_DISABLE_AFTER_MODESET flag support for plane commitLiu Ying
Drivers may set the NO_DISABLE_AFTER_MODESET flag in the 'flags' parameter of the helper drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes() if the relevant display controllers(e.g., IPUv3 for imx-drm) require to disable a CRTC's planes when the CRTC is disabled. The helper would skip the ->atomic_disable call for a plane if the CRTC of the old plane state needs a modesetting operation. Of course, the drivers need to disable the planes in their CRTC disable callbacks since no one else would do that.
