2016-10-16tpm_crb: fix crb_req_canceled behaviorJarkko Sakkinen
commit 72fd50e14e46dc0edf360631bdece87c2f066a97 upstream. The req_canceled() callback is used by tpm_transmit() periodically to check whether the request has been canceled while it is receiving a response from the TPM. The TPM_CRB_CTRL_CANCEL register was cleared already in the crb_cancel callback, which has two consequences: * Cancel might not happen. * req_canceled() always returns zero. A better place to clear the register is when starting to send a new command. The behavior of TPM_CRB_CTRL_CANCEL is described in the section 5.5.3.6 of the PTP specification. 2016-10-07tpm_crb: fix mapping of the buffersJarkko Sakkinen

On my Lenovo x250 the following situation occurs: [18697.813871] tpm_crb MSFT0101:00: can't request region for resource [mem 0xacdff080-0xacdfffff] The mapping of the control area overlaps the mapping of the command buffer. The control area is mapped over page, which is not right. It should mapped over sizeof(struct crb_control_area). Fixing this issue unmasks another issue. Command and response buffers can overlap and they do interleave on this machine. According to the PTP specification the overlapping means that they are mapped to the same buffer. The commit has been also on a Haswell NUC where things worked before applying this fix so that the both code paths for response buffer initialization are tested. 2016-08-20random: add interrupt callback to VMBus IRQ handlerStephan Mueller
commit 4b44f2d18a330565227a7348844493c59366171e upstream. The Hyper-V Linux Integration Services use the VMBus implementation for communication with the Hypervisor. VMBus registers its own interrupt handler that completely bypasses the common Linux interrupt handling. This implies that the interrupt entropy collector is not triggered. This patch adds the interrupt entropy collection callback into the VMBus interrupt handler function. 2016-06-13ipmi: Remove smi_msg from waiting_rcv_msgs list before handle_one_recv_msg()Junichi Nomura
Commit 7ea0ed2b5be8 ("ipmi: Make the message handler easier to use for SMI interfaces") changed handle_new_recv_msgs() to call handle_one_recv_msg() for a smi_msg while the smi_msg is still connected to waiting_rcv_msgs list. That could lead to following list corruption problems: 1) low-level function treats smi_msg as not connected to list handle_one_recv_msg() could end up calling smi_send(), which assumes the msg is not connected to list. For example, the following sequence could corrupt list by doing list_add_tail() for the entry still connected to other list. handle_new_recv_msgs() msg = list_entry(waiting_rcv_msgs) handle_one_recv_msg(msg) handle_ipmb_get_msg_cmd(msg) smi_send(msg) spin_lock(xmit_msgs_lock) list_add_tail(msg) spin_unlock(xmit_msgs_lock) 2) race between multiple handle_new_recv_msgs() instances handle_new_recv_msgs() once releases waiting_rcv_msgs_lock before calling handle_one_recv_msg() then retakes the lock and list_del() it. Commit d61a3ead2680 ("[PATCH] IPMI: reserve I/O ports separately") changed the way I/O ports were reserved and includes this comment in log: Some BIOSes reserve disjoint I/O regions in their ACPI tables for the IPMI controller. This causes problems when trying to register the entire I/O region. Therefore we must register each I/O port separately. Every new architecture has to add itself to the growing list of those that do not support the legacy PC RTC driver. This replaces the long list of architectures that don't support it with a shorter list of those that do. The list is taken from those architectures that have a non-empty asm/mc146818rtc.h header file and were not explicitly blacklisted or select RTC_LIB. Alpha and Loongson64 can already choose between this driver and an rtc-class based one. mn10300 is actually the only architecture now that still requires this driver, and that should be fairly easy to change to use rtc-cmos if we want to kill off rtc.ko for good. There's a background article at LWN.net: https://lwn.net/Articles/643797/ The gist is that protection keys allow the encoding of user-controllable permission masks in the pte. So instead of having a fixed protection mask in the pte (which needs a system call to change and works on a per page basis), the user can map a (handful of) protection mask variants and can change the masks runtime relatively cheaply, without having to change every single page in the affected virtual memory range. This allows the dynamic switching of the protection bits of large amounts of virtual memory, via user-space instructions. It also allows more precise control of MMU permission bits: for example the executable bit is separate from the read bit (see more about that below). This tree adds the MM infrastructure and low level x86 glue needed for that, plus it adds a high level API to make use of protection keys - if a user-space application calls: mmap(..., PROT_EXEC); or mprotect(ptr, sz, PROT_EXEC); (note PROT_EXEC-only, without PROT_READ/WRITE), the kernel will notice this special case, and will set a special protection key on this memory range. It also sets the appropriate bits in the Protection Keys User Rights (PKRU) register so that the memory becomes unreadable and unwritable. So using protection keys the kernel is able to implement 'true' PROT_EXEC on x86 CPUs: without protection keys PROT_EXEC implies PROT_READ as well. Unreadable executable mappings have security advantages: they cannot be read via information leaks to figure out ASLR details, nor can they be scanned for ROP gadgets - and they cannot be used by exploits for data purposes either. We know about no user-space code that relies on pure PROT_EXEC mappings today, but binary loaders could start making use of this new feature to map binaries and libraries in a more secure fashion. There is other pending pkeys work that offers more high level system call APIs to manage protection keys - but those are not part of this pull request. Right now there's a Kconfig that controls this feature (CONFIG_X86_INTEL_MEMORY_PROTECTION_KEYS) that is default enabled (like most x86 CPU feature enablement code that has no runtime overhead), but it's not user-configurable at the moment.
