2014-10-29sh: fix sh770x SCIF memory regionsAndriy Skulysh
Resources scif1_resources & scif2_resources overlap. Actual SCIF region size is 0x10. This is regression from commit d850acf975be ("sh: Declare SCIF register base and IRQ as resources") Signed-off-by: Andriy Skulysh <askulysh@gmail.com> Acked-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Cc: Geert Uytterhoeven <geert@linux-m68k.org> Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2014-10-19Merge git://git.infradead.org/users/eparis/auditLinus Torvalds
Pull audit updates from Eric Paris: "So this change across a whole bunch of arches really solves one basic problem. We want to audit when seccomp is killing a process. seccomp hooks in before the audit syscall entry code. audit_syscall_entry took as an argument the arch of the given syscall. Since the arch is part of what makes a syscall number meaningful it's an important part of the record, but it isn't available when seccomp shoots the syscall... For most arch's we have a better way to get the arch (syscall_get_arch) So the solution was two fold: Implement syscall_get_arch() everywhere there is audit which didn't have it. Use syscall_get_arch() in the seccomp audit code. Having syscall_get_arch() everywhere meant it was a useless flag on the stack and we could get rid of it for the typical syscall entry. The other changes inside the audit system aren't grand, fixed some records that had invalid spaces. Better locking around the task comm field. Removing some dead functions and structs. Make some things static. 2014-10-09Merge tag 'gpio-v3.18-1' of ↵Linus Torvalds
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio Pull GPIO changes from Linus Walleij: "This is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v3.18 development cycle: - Increase the default ARCH_NR_GPIO from 256 to 512. This was done to avoid having a custom <asm/gpio.h> header for the x86 architecture - GPIO is custom and complicated enough as it is already! We want to move to a radix to store the descriptors going forward, and finally get rid of this fixed array size altogether. - Endgame patching of the gpio_remove() semantics initiated by Abdoulaye Berthe. It is not accepted by the system that the removal of a GPIO chip fails during eg reboot or shutdown, and therefore the return value has now painfully been refactored away. For special cases like GPIO expanders on a hot-pluggable bus like USB, we may later add some gpiochip_try_remove() call, but for the cases we have now, return values are moot. - Some incremental refactoring of the gpiolib core and ACPI GPIO library for more descriptor usage. - Refactor the chained IRQ handler set-up method to handle also threaded, nested interrupts and set up the parent IRQ correctly. Switch STMPE and TC3589x drivers to use this registration method. - Add a .irq_not_threaded flag to the struct gpio_chip, so that also GPIO expanders that block but are still not using threaded IRQ handlers. - New drivers for the ARM64 X-Gene SoC GPIO controller. - The syscon GPIO driver has been improved to handle the "DSP GPIO" found on the TI Keystone 2 SoC:s. - ADNP driver switched to use gpiolib irqchip helpers. - Refactor the DWAPB driver to support being instantiated from and MFD cell (platform device). - Incremental feature improvement in the Zynq, MCP23S08, DWAPB, OMAP, Xilinx and Crystalcove drivers. - Various minor fixes" * tag 'gpio-v3.18-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio: (52 commits) gpio: pch: Build context save/restore only for PM pinctrl: abx500: get rid of unused variable gpio: ks8695: fix 'else should follow close brace '}'' gpio: stmpe: add verbose debug code gpio: stmpe: fix up interrupt enable logic gpio: staticize xway_stp_init() gpio: handle also nested irqchips in the chained handler set-up gpio: set parent irq on chained handlers gpiolib: irqchip: use irq_find_mapping while removing irqchip gpio: crystalcove: support virtual GPIO pinctrl: bcm281xx: make Kconfig dependency more strict gpio: kona: enable only on BCM_MOBILE or for compile testing gpio, bcm-kona, LLVMLinux: Remove use of __initconst gpio: Fix ngpio in gpio-xilinx driver gpio: dwapb: fix pointer to integer cast gpio: xgene: Remove unneeded #ifdef CONFIG_OF guard gpio: xgene: Remove unneeded forward declation for struct xgene_gpio gpio: xgene: Fix missing spin_lock_init() gpio: ks8695: fix switch case indentation gpiolib: add irq_not_threaded flag to gpio_chip ...

2014-09-23SH: define syscall_get_arch() for superhEric Paris
This patch defines syscall_get_arch() for the superh platform. It does so in both syscall_32.h and syscall_64.h. I'm not certain if the implementation in syscall_64.h couldn't just be used in syscall.h as I can't really track the setting of CONFIG_64BIT... This way is safe, but we might be able to combine these if a superh person were able to review... 2014-09-10sh: get_user_pages_fast() must flush cacheStas Sergeev
This patch avoids fuse hangs on sh4 by flushing the cache on get_user_pages_fast(). This is not necessary a good thing to do, but get_user_pages() does this, so get_user_pages_fast() should too. Please note the patch for mips arch that addresses the similar problem: https://kernel.googlesource.com/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ralf/linux/+/linux-3.4.50%5E!/#F0 They basically simply disable get_user_pages_fast() at all, using a fall-back to get_user_pages(). 2014-08-08kexec: load and relocate purgatory at kernel load timeVivek Goyal
Load purgatory code in RAM and relocate it based on the location. Relocation code has been inspired by module relocation code and purgatory relocation code in kexec-tools. Also compute the checksums of loaded kexec segments and store them in purgatory. Arch independent code provides this functionality so that arch dependent bootloaders can make use of it. Helper functions are provided to get/set symbol values in purgatory which are used by bootloaders later to set things like stack and entry point of second kernel etc. Signed-off-by: Vivek Goyal <vgoyal@redhat.com> Cc: Borislav Petkov <bp@suse.de> Cc: Michael Kerrisk <mtk.manpages@gmail.com> Cc: Yinghai Lu <yinghai@kernel.org> Cc: Eric Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> Cc: H. 2014-08-08arm64,ia64,ppc,s390,sh,tile,um,x86,mm: remove default gate areaAndy Lutomirski
The core mm code will provide a default gate area based on FIXADDR_USER_START and FIXADDR_USER_END if !defined(__HAVE_ARCH_GATE_AREA) && defined(AT_SYSINFO_EHDR). This default is only useful for ia64. arm64, ppc, s390, sh, tile, 64-bit UML, and x86_32 have their own code just to disable it. arm, 32-bit UML, and x86_64 have gate areas, but they have their own implementations. This gets rid of the default and moves the code into ia64. This should save some code on architectures without a gate area: it's now possible to inline the gate_area functions in the default case. 2014-08-04Merge tag 'trace-3.17' of ↵Linus Torvalds
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rostedt/linux-trace Pull tracing updates from Steven Rostedt: "This pull request has a lot of work done. The main thing is the changes to the ftrace function callback infrastructure. It's introducing a way to allow different functions to call directly different trampolines instead of all calling the same "mcount" one. The only user of this for now is the function graph tracer, which always had a different trampoline, but the function tracer trampoline was called and did basically nothing, and then the function graph tracer trampoline was called. The difference now, is that the function graph tracer trampoline can be called directly if a function is only being traced by the function graph trampoline. If function tracing is also happening on the same function, the old way is still done. The accounting for this takes up more memory when function graph tracing is activated, as it needs to keep track of which functions it uses. I have a new way that wont take as much memory, but it's not ready yet for this merge window, and will have to wait for the next one. Another big change was the removal of the ftrace_start/stop() calls that were used by the suspend/resume code that stopped function tracing when entering into suspend and resume paths. The stop of ftrace was done because there was some function that would crash the system if one called smp_processor_id()! The stop/start was a big hammer to solve the issue at the time, which was when ftrace was first introduced into Linux. Now ftrace has better infrastructure to debug such issues, and I found the problem function and labeled it with "notrace" and function tracing can now safely be activated all the way down into the guts of suspend and resume Other changes include clean ups of uprobe code, clean up of the trace_seq() code, and other various small fixes and clean ups to ftrace and tracing" * tag 'trace-3.17' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rostedt/linux-trace: (57 commits) ftrace: Add warning if tramp hash does not match nr_trampolines ftrace: Fix trampoline hash update check on rec->flags ring-buffer: Use rb_page_size() instead of open coded head_page size ftrace: Rename ftrace_ops field from trampolines to nr_trampolines tracing: Convert local function_graph functions to static ftrace: Do not copy old hash when resetting tracing: let user specify tracing_thresh after selecting function_graph ring-buffer: Always run per-cpu ring buffer resize with schedule_work_on() tracing: Remove function_trace_stop and HAVE_FUNCTION_TRACE_MCOUNT_TEST s390/ftrace: remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop arm64, ftrace: Remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop Blackfin: ftrace: Remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop metag: ftrace: Remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop microblaze: ftrace: Remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop MIPS: ftrace: Remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop parisc: ftrace: Remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop sh: ftrace: Remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop sparc64,ftrace: Remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop tile: ftrace: Remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop ftrace: x86: Remove check of obsolete variable function_trace_stop ...

2014-07-23sh: also try passing -m4-nofpu for SH2A buildsGeert Uytterhoeven
When compiling a SH2A kernel (e.g. se7206_defconfig or rsk7203_defconfig) using sh4-linux-gcc, linking fails with: net/built-in.o: In function `__sk_run_filter': net/core/filter.c:566: undefined reference to `__fpscr_values' net/core/filter.c:269: undefined reference to `__fpscr_values' ... net/built-in.o:net/core/filter.c:580: more undefined references to `__fpscr_values' follow This happens because sh4-linux-gcc doesn't support the "-m2a-nofpu", which is thus filtered out by "$(call cc-option, ...)". As compiling using sh4-linux-gcc is useful for compile coverage, also try passing "-m4-nofpu" (which is presumably filtered out when using a real sh2a-linux toolchain) to disable the generation of FPU instructions and references to __fpscr_values[]. 2014-07-18sh: ftrace: Add call to ftrace_graph_is_dead() in function graph codeSteven Rostedt (Red Hat)
ftrace_stop() is going away as it disables parts of function tracing that affects users that should not be affected. But ftrace_graph_stop() is built on ftrace_stop(). Here's another example of killing all of function tracing because something went wrong with function graph tracing. Instead of disabling all users of function tracing on function graph error, disable only function graph tracing. To do this, the arch code must call ftrace_graph_is_dead() before it implements function graph. Cc: Paul Mundt <lethal@linux-sh.org> Signed-off-by: Steven Rostedt <rostedt@goodmis.org>

Because of the removal of the scsi_tgt kernel module, the kbuild variables CONFIG_SCSI_TGT, CONFIG_SCSI_SRP_TGT_ATTRS and CONFIG_SCSI_FC_TGT_ATTRS are obsolete. This patch removes these variables. 2014-07-17arch, locking: Ciao arch_mutex_cpu_relax()Davidlohr Bueso
The arch_mutex_cpu_relax() function, introduced by 34b133f, is hacky and ugly. It was added a few years ago to address the fact that common cpu_relax() calls include yielding on s390, and thus impact the optimistic spinning functionality of mutexes. Nowadays we use this function well beyond mutexes: rwsem, qrwlock, mcs and lockref. Since the macro that defines the call is in the mutex header, any users must include mutex.h and the naming is misleading as well. This patch (i) renames the call to cpu_relax_lowlatency ("relax, but only if you can do it with very low latency") and (ii) defines it in each arch's asm/processor.h local header, just like for regular cpu_relax functions. On all archs, except s390, cpu_relax_lowlatency is simply cpu_relax, and thus we can take it out of mutex.h. While this can seem redundant, I believe it is a good choice as it allows us to move out arch specific logic from generic locking primitives and enables future(?) archs to transparently define it, similarly to System Z. 2014-06-28ASoC: fsi: use SNDRV_DMA_TYPE_DEV for sound bufferKuninori Morimoto
Current fsi driver is using SNDRV_DMA_TYPE_CONTINUOUS for snd_pcm_lib_preallocate_pages_for_all(). But, it came from original dma-sh7760.c, and no longer needed. This patch exchange its parameter, and removed original dma mapping and un-needed dma_sync_single_xxx() from driver.
