assoc_array: move deletion's collapse into a function of its own

assoc_array_delete() is 177 lines: it finds the leaf, clears it, and
then spends some 90 lines collapsing the subtree around it into one
node, with two labels of its own inside an if.

Move the collapse into assoc_array_delete_collapse(), which returns
false when it cannot allocate the node; the caller cancels the edit as
before.

No functional change.
