This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook

'struct configfs_item_operations' and 'configfs_group_operations' are not modified in these drivers. Constifying these structures moves some data to a read-only section, so increases overall security, especially when the structure holds some function pointers. printer_read() and printer_write() guard against the race against disable() by checking the dev->interface flag, which in turn is guarded by a spinlock. These functions, however, drop the lock on multiple occasions. This means that the test has to be redone after reacquiring the lock and before doing IO. Add the tests. ida_alloc() and ida_free() should be preferred to the deprecated ida_simple_get() and ida_simple_remove(). Note that the upper limit of ida_simple_get() is exclusive, but the one of ida_alloc_max() is inclusive. So a -1 has been added when needed.
