This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook

scsi: Change the return type of the .queuecommand() callback

In clang version 21.1 and later the -Wimplicit-enum-enum-cast warning option has been introduced. This warning is enabled by default and can be used to catch .queuecommand() implementations that return another value than 0 or one of the SCSI_MLQUEUE_* constants. Hence this patch that changes the return type of the .queuecommand() implementations from 'int' into 'enum scsi_qc_status'. No functionality has been changed. s390: Remove KMSG_COMPONENT macro

The KMSG_COMPONENT macro is a leftover of the s390 specific "kernel message catalog" which never made it upstream. Remove the macro in order to get rid of a pointless indirection. Replace all users with the string it defines. In almost all cases this leads to a simple replacement like this: - #define KMSG_COMPONENT "appldata" - #define pr_fmt(fmt) KMSG_COMPONENT ": " fmt + #define pr_fmt(fmt) "appldata: " fmt Except for some special cases this is just mechanical/scripted work. scsi: Convert SCSI drivers to .sdev_configure()

The only difference between the .sdev_configure() and .slave_configure() methods is that the former accepts an additional 'limits' argument. Convert all SCSI drivers that define a .slave_configure() method to .sdev_configure(). This patch prepares for removing the .slave_configure() method. No functionality has been changed. scsi: Rename .slave_alloc() and .slave_destroy()

Rename .slave_alloc() into .sdev_init() and .slave_destroy() into .sdev_destroy(). The new names make it clear that these are actions on SCSI devices. Make this change in the SCSI core, SCSI drivers and also in the ATA drivers. No functionality has been changed. This patch has been created as follows: * Change the text "slave_alloc" into "sdev_init" in all source files except those in drivers/net/ and Documentation/. * Change the text "slave_destroy" into "sdev_destroy" in all source files except those in drivers/net/ and Documentation/. * Rename lpfc_no_slave() into lpfc_no_sdev(). * Manually adjust whitespace where necessary to restore vertical alignment (dc395x driver and include/linux/libata.h). scsi: zfcp: Change the type of all fsf request id fields and variables to u64

We use different integer types throughout zfcp to store the FSF request ID and related values; some places use 'unsigned long' and others 'u64'. On s390x these are effectively the same type, but this might cause confusions and is generally inconsistent. The specification for the used hardware specifies this value as a 64-bit number, and ultimately we use this value to communicate with the hardware, so it makes sense to change the type of all these variables to 'u64' where we can. The only exception being when we store it in the 'host_scribble' field of a 'struct scsi_cmnd'; for this case we add a build time check to make sure they are compatible.
