The definition of __used singled out gcc minor version 3, but didn't care what the major version was. This broke when unit-at-a-time was added and gcc started throwing out initcalls. This results in an early boot crash when ptrace tries to initialize a process with an empty, uninitialized register set. It turns out that there wasn't a definition of __used. Fixed this by copying the relevant stuff from compiler.h in the userspace case, and including compiler.h in the kernel case. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
